Daisy CBT

bumperlicious · 21/05/2007 15:43

Oooh, I'd mug someone for a nice chilled cocktail right now!

Daisy, great news about DH and impending move. Glad you'll be leaving your job. Did I see you say on another thread something about starting up your own business? Ages ago.

mytwocents · 21/05/2007 15:46

mmmmmmmmmm Rasberry martinis!!!!!!

Daisy CBT stands for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. If your PCT is up to date they may have CBT trained nurses, I know nurses in hampshire are all given the training. I've not qualified in this area ( -yet..) but have seen great benefits from it including a reduction in the need for ADs. The basic idea is you are treating the cause rather than just the symptoms, hopefully enabling you to help yourself before you become very unwell. I'll try and get a link to you this afternoon.....

mytwocents · 21/05/2007 15:47

Thanks Bumper!!

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 15:47

Cheers for that link bumper...it's basically what I was talking about with the mental health nurse last week, so that sounds positive.

Starting up my own business has always been a bit of a pipe dream and I would love a deli a la neal's yard cheese shop or that ilk....DH has pointed out that what os really lacking in the Boston area is decent childcare, so I may look into childminding as a short term solution......that's if they allow slightly anxious depressed loonies a licence to mind other people's children!!

Foxy, that site looks interesting. I think I am going to waddle down to Neals Yard and see what they can give me. I love that place, I know it's expensive, but I know all the staff there and they have seen me though this pg and are always so supportive, telling me I need to take time off, or that I look blooming and glamorous, I always feel like I get a bit of counseling every time I go there, people pay a fortune for that sort of pick me up! I'll settle for an overpriced bottle of massage oil!

bumperlicious · 21/05/2007 15:52

Hey they let worse people breed those children! They'll be letting me go home with this little one and I am a very anxious loonie! Sounds like a fab idea anyway. Or a little franchise or some sort would be great.

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 15:52

Mytwo....DH was stressing that point to the doctor, that he didn't think just throwing drugs at me was the answer (that's what happened after I had DS and although was a great sticking plaster, it didn't really resolve the underlying issues (i.e. that I'm a fruitcake ) and I've had several bouts of depression since then. My HV referred me to the mental health nurse that is attached to their team and I saw her last week. she's coming again on Thursday, so I'd better do my homework...
....do you know anything about Prozac and BF...I'm a bit concerned about the long term effects on the baby.

I meant to go yesterday to Neal's Yard, but got far too caught up in Fresh & Wild. I only went in for some humuus and jam tarts, came out with oils, massage ball, and lots of yummy stuff!

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 15:55

Mind you, if I was that concerned I could always FF from the off......

Wash your mouth out immediately!!!

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 15:57

I think I need a trip into town for some nice massage oils for labour (although the oil that my secret stork sent me is lovely, I've been putting it in the bath as well as rubbing it on my tum and it's going down fast......neroli is gorgeous). I think some clary sage is in order...
Pity we don't have Neal's yard up here though....although i think you can but their ready made stuff in Harvey Nicks.

You wanna be hoping your waters break whilst you are in there!

mytwocents · 21/05/2007 16:05

Bf is fine on Prozac. As I said before just be careful if you increase or decrease the dose - tell your nurse or GP.

Some docs suggest you express or feed 2 hours before you take your meds....only some mind. I reckon it's more important you take your prescribed meds than worry too much, only Lithium will harm a baby.

Ask your nurse about CBT though, sounds like you'd be perfect for it - just having an open mind is a brilliant start...

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 16:06

Apparently that's all just an urban myth Foxy......

That's not going to stop me from loitering in there Daisy!

mytwocents · 21/05/2007 16:11

some people may tell you that there may be long term damage from bf on prozac - I cant argue with this as prozac is only about 20 years old so long term studies have not yet been done.....If , however, there was any evidence that ads ,prozac in particular, harmed bf babies then we would DEFINITELY know about it by now.

NattyThomasandEllen · 21/05/2007 16:11

daisy hun feel for you having only just come out the other side, am very worried that i will develop PND as well as AND, we must exchange emails as i feel we have alot in common (DH's as useless as each others )

NattyThomasandEllen · 21/05/2007 16:13

confused.. WB and harvey nicks?

DaisysGotABigBump · 21/05/2007 16:24

Natty....my e-mail is daisybump at yahoo dot co dot uk.....

Apparently some woman was given Harvey Nicks vouchers when she went into labour in the Edinburgh store, but I read an article in The Scotsman (I think) saying that her waters had broken in the store and that th staff had been rather unhelpful. She then left, got in her car and drove herself to hospital....she complained to the store and was given a token gift voucher with an apology. This quickly translated through the grapevine to £500 of vouchers if you went into labour instore, and now they are fed up with pg women loitering with intent in the Edinburgh store.......
I'll try to find the article....
