Hi everyone, just got a bfp this morning after over a year of trying, so excited whilst trying to keep calm as I recently had a mc. This will be my second baby, would love to chat to others who have just found out too!! Xxx

@emalady I think I'll need some lactulose soon. Seem to have swung from one to the other in the last week!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 08/06/2018 10:04

@Picklesandpies and @emalady. Congrats in the 3+ My dates are a few days behind you but I got a 2-3 this morning after a 1-2 on Monday, so 2-3 when I'm not 5 weeks yet is ok I think.

Celebelly · 08/06/2018 10:39

I'm 5 weeks today! I am exhausted today, like whole body exhaustion. Not even sleepy, just it feels like such an effort to move and be alive, haha

sleighride5 · 08/06/2018 11:01

HI Everyone, and Congratulations!

My first time posting, and my first pregnancy so a complete newbie here. The NHS site puts me at around 5 weeks so in a bit of a shock.

Been feeling a bit off for a couple of weeks but as I only came off the pill in Feb I hadn't really had a regular AF yet so dismissed everything as "something I ate last night".

Took a test yesterday just so I could stop overthinking every twinge and up came the lines! Feel a bit bad as was DH's birthday so I totally stole his thunder... ah well I'm sure he'll get over it (was beaming away this morning happy with his "potent sperm").

No real symptoms yet, but I'm a firm knicker-watcher at the moment. Will be happier once I'm all set up with the Docs/Midwife - first appointment next week.

Wishing everyone all the best.

Picklesandpies · 08/06/2018 11:54

@LookingAtTheStars89 2-3 is definitely fine! Good news all round. Fingers crossed!

Celebelly · 08/06/2018 12:14

@picklesandpies I'm still getting some period-type pain and I'm 5 weeks today. It's intermittent and seems more common in the middle of the night/first thing in morning and then is fine during day.

emalady · 08/06/2018 12:36

@lookingatthestars89 2-3 is def perfect if you want are less than 5 weeks, brilliant it's gone up from 1-2.
@picklesandpies what fun with bowels. I'm trying to up my fibre intake too but glad I have some back up.
@sleighride5 welcome and congratulations! Hope everything goes well with the midwife next week.

furandchandeliers · 08/06/2018 14:53

Had my first midwife appointment today, went really well, I've moved areas since having my last baby 5 years ago so it's a different team and a different hospital I'll be going to for scans etc.

I mentioned I want a home birth again and she was all for it, i was a bit worried they'd make a fuss as it's my 6th baby, but she said I've never had any issues before so should be fine.

It's so exciting, feels so real!

5Makes9 · 08/06/2018 16:51

Hi all. Really wasn’t expecting to be here. This will be number 5 for us. Don’t feel at all pregnant yet. According to NHS website I’m due 8th Feb.

5Makes9 · 08/06/2018 16:52

Oh fur that’s good to hear. I wondered if I’d face some resistance with this being my 5th. Had the last three at home. Wouldnt have made it to hospital in time with my 4th!

lanalawr · 08/06/2018 17:17

furandchandeliers and 5Makes9 DH and I were talking about home births the other day (very early to think about it I know but it something that's asked at the booking appointments here). How did you find it with your other DC around. Who looked after them and where? Did you have much support from midwives, etc straight after with bf (if you bf)? I'm not worried about the birth part as I was fine with DD (and I was close to an unplanned home birth with her). I'm more worried about the support afterwards. I didn't have great bf support in the midwife unit but at least people were there (even though that contributed significantly to us having to stop bf very early).

5Makes9 · 08/06/2018 18:00

None of my children were around for my home births, twice in middle of the night and one my eldest were with their dad (ex husband). I had three birth partners (husband, mum and sister) at the last two and that worked best for me. Had (now ex) husband and mum at my first home birth and that was fine too.
Found I had much more support with home birth - midwives stayed til I was settled and had fed baby. They came back every day for the first few days and I knew I could call a BF supporter if I needed.

AKAlucy · 08/06/2018 19:20

Thank you to everyone who advised about going straight to contacting midwife instead of GP. That is what happens in my area but I didn’t realise. It feels weird telling these people on the phone that I’m pregnant as I feel like they are not going to just take my word for it! I have a really short cycle (23 days) so she was struggling to decide how many weeks I was- she asked if I knew date of conception. I said no. I didn’t tell her that I had no idea as had made DP DTD for 10 straight days this month so we had given it a good ‘go’ !!

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 08/06/2018 19:53

@AKAlucy haha we did the exact same-10 days DTD in a row 😂 think it was a relief when I said fertile window is gone now!!

AKAlucy · 08/06/2018 20:08

😂 @TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong Hope it didn’t happen the night I couldn’t even be bothered to take my jumper off! Anyone else longing for their Friday night glass of wine? Ribena with Pringles is not quite the same...

WeeBump89 · 08/06/2018 21:33

Hi girlies. I'm joining your chat now as had an early scan this morning and it's looking like I'm a week out on dates so baby will be due start of February. Looking forward to the 12 week scan now! This is my first pregnancy and I'm a midwife would have thought I knew more but it's quite strange being on the other side for a change!

lanalawr · 08/06/2018 21:54

5makes9 Thank you for sharing your experience. My parents are likely to have DD for us but I don't want her to have to stay somewhere else or for my parents to be here while I'm giving birth (essentially only suits a daytime delivery so they can go out). Think I need to be less picky! I'd find a work around for that if the clinical/professional support after was enough though.

Welcome WeeBump89!

jeanzbeanz · 08/06/2018 22:11

Congrats @weebump89! Sounds like you are about as far on as me. I have an early scan on Friday next week and super nervous about it. (will it hurt... Will they find anything... Will it all be OK... Etc?!?!) Nice to see the pics you got :)

WeeBump89 · 08/06/2018 22:59

@jeanzbeanz it didn't hurt at all :) baby was really easy for them to find! OH looked so proud!

jeanzbeanz · 08/06/2018 23:28

@weebump89 aww that's so nice 😍 xx

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2018 03:54

So exciting wee!! I’m not having any morning sickness yet, little more tired. I never had bad sickness with DD either, but I also wasn’t working a huge amount with her and noticed I felt much worse on my busy days. Something tells me I may not get to lucky this time with a toddler to chase after!

MrsY87 · 09/06/2018 06:54

Hello!! Hope it's ok to join you! Got my bfp yesterday, it's still early days as only around 4+3 based on dates. EDD 13 Feb.

This will be our 3rd and final baby, DD is 3.5yrs and DS is 9m so all being well should have a 17m gap...eek! Anyone else having a small gap? It was very much planned but I didn't expect it to happen so quickly as DS took 10m to conceive and now I'm freaking out about how I'm going to cope with 3 under 5s!

No sickness etc here yet just a totally unquenchable thirst which was my main symptom when I was pregnant with DD too. I literally cannot drink enough!

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2018 09:36

Congratulations Mrs! My gap isn’t going to be that small (DD will be 2y3m when this one is born) but having been a nanny in my previous life I personally prefer a small one! It’s rough for the first year but once the youngest is 1 it gets much easier v fast. We would have started trying again much earlier but I had a v lengthy recovery from the birth of DD, wish I had another already!

OpenThatTrapDoor · 09/06/2018 18:33

Hello, can I tentatively dip my foot in here...?

Got a BFP earlier today, can’t quite believe it! Very early days, and I’m naturally a worrier so very nervous!

Pregnancy calculators give a EDD of 15th Feb, although I have a medical condition that means I’ll only go to 38weeks at the most.

Already have a three year old so all being well this’ll be number two!

Hello!

LookingAtTheStars89 · 09/06/2018 21:44

@OpenThatTrapDoor. That's a few days after me :-) I will probably only go to 37/38 weeks again too as I have a medical condition.
