Hi everyone, just got a bfp this morning after over a year of trying, so excited whilst trying to keep calm as I recently had a mc. This will be my second baby, would love to chat to others who have just found out too!! Xxx

@AKAlucy You sound like me - just eating whatever you can, no matter how random the combination! The doctor did say not to worry as the baby will take whatever it needs from you despite a less than ideal diet.

I'm already awake as I was in bed being sick with a blinding headache from 3pm yesterday. Joyous! Desperately hoping for a better day today. House is in need of some attention too!

Since2016 · 21/06/2018 06:29

@MrsY87 I am - back ache still and yesterday the first sign of the awful fatigue but otherwise nothing. But I wasn't ill until 8 weeks last time.

MrsY87 · 21/06/2018 08:54

@Since2016 nice to know I'm not the only one with few symptoms! Suppose I should be counting myself lucky!

Since2016 · 21/06/2018 09:51

@MrsY87 hard not to be anxious though! I suspect we still have time. Although I AM super bloated. Even got offered a seat by a man on the tube 😳 and then nearly cried - bloody hormones.

smellsofelderberries · 21/06/2018 12:02

@MrsY87 I haven't had too many symptoms but I think they're picking up now. DD didn't nap today so I didn't get any down time. Pilates class this morning plus play dates for DD this morning and this afternoon and I feel horrendous and am about to go to sleep (it's almost 9pm here). That's usually a pretty standard day for us so I obviously need to start slowing down a bit. I think I'm 6 weeks today which is when I remember it ramping up a bit with DD.

For all of those talking scans, we have one booked for 8 weeks (roughly). I don't want to pay for too many and for us that strikes the right balance of it feeling soon enough, but I'll also be far enough along that a healthy scan gives us excellent odds. With DD my 12 week scan was actually scan number 5 due to so much bleeding. I'll be glad to not have a reason to have so many early scans this time!

AKAlucy · 21/06/2018 13:08

Can we eat supermarket mozzarella and feta? The Morrison’s and M&S labels don’t state whether the milk used is pasteurised or unpasteurised so I was assuming it would be pasteurised unless it states otherwise? I really fancied the slow-roast tomato and feta pasta salad from M&S but was too chicken to buy it...

TheTittifersHaveSungTheirSong · 21/06/2018 14:16

@AKAlucy yeah they'd be fine I'm sure!
I've been eating mozzarella!!

MrsY87 · 21/06/2018 16:48

After saying this morning I was pretty symptomless I've had nausea all afternoon 🤢 I'm 6+1 today so probably right about it ramping up around now @smellsofelderberries

I've just collapsed on the sofa & stuck the kids in front of the tv...I feel like CBeebies May have a lot of airtime in my house over the next couple of months!

Picklesandpies · 21/06/2018 17:09

@MrsY87 Poor you. They do say 6 weeks don't they! It's truly grim - I'm just in survival mode. Hope yours doesn't get too bad. Horrible Histories is on constantly in our house after school at the moment. I can't even watch it with them as television makes me feel even worse! Doctor kindly informed me that it was likely to get worse between 9-11 weeks. Just feel as though that's an eternity!

Since2016 · 21/06/2018 17:35

Poor ladies with the sickness - I remember not getting Ill till 8 weeks last time so fx. Deffo thinking of a scan at 8/9 weeks if I can hold off that long x

LookingAtTheStars89 · 21/06/2018 17:39

😂😂😂 I just cried all the way through Olaf's Frozen Adventure!

Picklesandpies · 22/06/2018 13:09

How are we all feeling today? 7+2 here. Today and yesterday have been better days for me. Bought acupressure wristbands and it is probably a coincidence but I don't feel quite as bad as I have done. Was only sick a tiny bit yesterday and actually ate some pizza. Have found dry white toast (no butter) with some thin slices of banana on it is helping to control nausea and stop it reaching loo clutching levels! School summer fete tomorrow - I was meant to be doing something but my husband has now been tasked with that! Hoping it's not 'boiling' as I'll last five minutes if it is! Hope everyone is doing well!

Since2016 · 22/06/2018 16:52

Glad you're feeling a bit better @Picklesandpies boiling here, I've started to feel much more exhausted. Had awful hideous battle of wills with toddler over her nap - hideous. But eventually she caved and I also napped! Why oh why are two year old so bloody vile?

Officially 5 weeks now - hoorah.

SpringfieldMummy · 22/06/2018 19:04

I'd forgotten about this lovely pregnancy symptom until it started this week, anyone got horrendous farts?? It seriously smells like something has died up there.

It reminded my I also had them with my daughter, but I can't remember how long they lasted

Picklesandpies · 22/06/2018 20:04

@Since2016 that sounds joyous! Not what you need right now...! I also had temper tantrums after school but from a 7 and 10 year old. Finding this evening a struggle - major nausea again. I seem to pay for it in the evening if it's not been so bad during the day and vice versa. @SpringfieldMummy Not suffering from wind but my piles are something else after 3 days of no action. I've never been so relieved to find my bottom was bleeding and nowhere else!

Mrscooper13 · 22/06/2018 21:18

Was just wondering who people have told??

Last time I told our parents and one person at work at 8 weeks but only because I had such bad toothache and couldn’t treat it.

This time we think we might wait until 12 weeks as a nice surprise unless anything crops up.

But then think we really should tell someone and work just in case

Confused

Since2016 · 22/06/2018 22:08

@Picklesandpies that sounds ghastly tbh. DD is pretty good generally but sleep is (and always has been!) a total war zone. Didn't sleep through till 15 months... still v hit and miss. Hope your sickness abates soon I abhor vomiting I get so upset by it!

@SpringfieldMummy no wind but the horrific bloating continues. So self conscious at swimming today!

@Mrscooper13 we've told my parents, and his mum, one friend (who has been v supportive through fertility issues / treatment) and his sister. Not intending to tell anyone else until 12 week scan and most definitely not work!!!

Bluebeee · 22/06/2018 23:31

@mrscooper13 I have told my best 4 friends. 2 of them were with me when I did the test (which I wouldn't have done had I thought I might be pg but wanted to make sure before going out drinking). One of my friends friends was there, then they told a guy who had come out for her birthday. Then one of my friends accidentally let it slip to two other guys Confused this is all before I told dh too. Terrible really but I was just so sure I had had a period, but turns out it wasn't. We won't tell anyone else until the 12 week scan. And if dh asks it's only me and him who know currently Hmm

OpenThatTrapDoor · 23/06/2018 06:33

@SpringfieldMummy - yep, same issue here Blush

@mrscooper13 - we’ve told a friend each (so by proxy their partners), his parents (and my work. Ideally wouldn’t have told work but I have so many extra appointments that it’s a bit unavoidable. Planning to not tell anyone else until 12 weeks but we’ll see. Kept it super quiet the first time round but feel less fixed on that this time.

Since2016 · 23/06/2018 06:50

Morning ladies. So, what are the views on job hunting while pregnant? I've had some v tentative discussions re a new job - all informal network etc but wondering if it does materialise do I declare? I have a 3 month notice period (😫) so probably wouldn't end up there long before going on mat leave???

Mrscooper13 · 23/06/2018 07:36

@bluebee that is hilarious!!

@since2016 we only told work because I so ill with this tooth ache and could only take paracetamol 🙈
Remember that your entitled to very little unless you’ve normally worked with a company for over 6 months so that the main downfall.

I feel a little mean not telling anyone now

MrsY87 · 23/06/2018 07:56

@Mrscooper13 we've told my parents & I've told a couple of close girl friends who I would tell & want there support if things go wrong. We are seeing my in laws when I'll be about 11w so we'll tell them then and then anyone else after 12w scan. I won't put anything on fb/insta til after 20w scan.

@Since2016 I'm job hunting! I resigned from my job last week and they've waived my notice as I'm still on mat leave! I think the only consideration is that with a new employer you prob won't qualify for any enhanced mat pay and you might not qualify for statutory mat pay either depending on when you leave your existing employer. You would still be able to get maternity allowance though! I'm just looking for a temp contract to see me through til the end of the year so a bit of a different situation.

Since2016 · 23/06/2018 08:57

Thanks girls. Pay isn't an issue as I work for the NHS so while I wouldn't get stat I would still get enhanced as it's not affected by changing Trust. Feels a bit naughty but I probably wouldn't take a full year again...

MrsY87 · 23/06/2018 10:00

@Since2016 in which case definitely go for it!!

Since2016 · 23/06/2018 12:56

Thanks @MrsY87 will keep you all posted. Everything is utterly unpredictable so don't want to pass up on something if whatever reason this pregnancy isn't viable. Adult life is hard!
