Hi everyone, just got a bfp this morning after over a year of trying, so excited whilst trying to keep calm as I recently had a mc. This will be my second baby, would love to chat to others who have just found out too!! Xxx

Thanks for the advice @MrsY87 - if it gets worse then I'll go to the doctors. Were there any side effects from the anti-sickness drugs? I've just been to Tesco and bought a few ready meals to see whether any of those will help - lots of mashed potato etc! I feel as though this many will be getting no nutrients but I can't face most things I'd normally eat. I'm dreading cooking tonight already!

hayleyfx · 13/06/2018 11:52

@Picklesandpies my nausea isn’t constant yet but I hardly ever feel like eating, even if I’m not nauseous. The thought of certain foods 🤢 For me, I’ve found that the answer is to force myself to eat! Feel so much better with a full stomach. Also soup is my go to meal now, I love it haha. Ice poles and lollies too, they’re great when you can’t eat! 😬

hayleyfx · 13/06/2018 12:30

Okay maybe I take that back... just had some soup for lunch now I’m sitting in the bathroom trying my hardest not to be sick! Just hit me out of nowhere 🤦‍♀️

Picklesandpies · 13/06/2018 12:52

@hayleyfx I think I'll give soup a miss if it has that effect! Hope you're ok! I have bought some orange lollies so hoping they are nice. Really do need to find a way of eating better. It's the smell... Thinking maybe slow cooker?!

emalady · 13/06/2018 14:18

@picklesandpies have you tried ginger, vitamin b6 and those travel sickness wrist bands. They can all help.

@katiedecades def normal. This is our first pregnancy too but have been trying for a few years and gone through ivf. Still very scared and unprepared now!!

I've just developed muscle cramp in my thigh. Really hoping this is not going to last.

I can't remember who suggested the hay-fever balm. Thanks! I'm actually using beconase which is helping a lot.

emalady · 13/06/2018 14:21

Also cold food smells less so can be easier, sandwich or meat and cheese. Or ice cream.

@Picklesandpies I'm no help but I feel your pain. My morning sickness is borderline HG, constantly throwing up, can't hold down water, it's pretty horrific. I'm only 4.5weeks in but I too worry how I'm going to cope with DD when the morning sickness really starts. How old are your DC? My only remedy is curl up in a ball and cry yourself to sleep 😅 worked for me last time.

Welcome @katiedecades !

@LookingAtTheStars89 never had sore boobs in early pregnancy either!

emoji · 13/06/2018 15:17

I'm so tired 😩 At least with DD still being very small she has long naps during the day so I try to sleep when she does. Any one in full time work, I salute you!

Picklesandpies · 13/06/2018 16:28

@emoji Poor you! I was like you when I was pregnant with dd1. It was all day, all night - I slept on the bathroom floor. It was my first and I had no other friends who had had children so I thought that was how it was. Not fun at all. If mine got as bad as you have it now though I'd go to the doctors. Gosh, I'm already struggling to cope and I'm not actually being sick yet and my children are at school! Curling up in a ball with a bowl next to me actually is one of the best feelings once children are in bed!

@emalady I have tried lots of ginger things - they seem to help a bit but I'm not wanting anything sweet so bit tricky with some varieties! I haven't heard of B6 being good but now I've googled I can see that I should give that a go. Might order some sickness bands to wear at home - bit of a give away to wear out Smile. I saw a very expensive device on Amazon - like a tens machine for your wrist! £85 is a lot of money though when it may do absolutely nothing!

Sending antiemetic vibes to all those feeling green!

hayleyfx · 13/06/2018 22:52

@Picklesandpies I know, I was just bragging about how easy on the stomach soup was! 🤣 totally agree with the smell of cooking, anything to reduce it would be great!

furandchandeliers · 13/06/2018 23:30

I've had some spotting today and some cramping, but not sure if the cramps were magnified because I was looking out for them, I have had gentle cramping in and off since bfp, but tonight I've also had a feeling in my pelvis, can't explain it but it feels familiar so I might have had it in my other pregnancies.

Has anyone else had this? I dont remember having spotting before but if I had t looked on the tissue I don't think I'd have noticed it, I rang the mw but no answer so left a message, she did say if I had any bleeding they'd book me in for a scan at epu.

I have had a miscarriage before but it was a lot of blood all in one go and lots of pain, I'm not bleeding at all now.

Picklesandpies · 14/06/2018 00:20

@furandchandeliers I had spotting and bleeding with dd1 - I was almost at the EPU monthly. Never anything wrong but hopefully a scan will put your mind at rest. I had a miscarriage in April and that was bad cramping and I saw blood in the loo - not light spotting. It's such a hard few weeks at the beginning isn't it. The chances are it will all be fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you 😘

imreallyamermaid · 14/06/2018 07:59

Hey all, 6+ 5 today and I'm mega tired, my boobs are killing me and my nips are like saucers! And the dreaded nausea has hit! Although I haven't actually been sick yet (touch wood) I seem to feel bad in the morning just after I get up then again in the evening.
Fingers crossed for you @furandchandeliers I'm sure all is well but always best to check it out.
@emoji sorry to hear about your hg like sickness I've been there it's not fun ds1 had me pretty much puking/sleeping for the first 4 months! The best advice I can give is: flat coke is your friend and it does get better Thanks

emalady · 14/06/2018 12:45

@emoji sorry you are feeling so rubbish. Have you been to see your GP yet?

@furandchandeliers hope everything is OK. Must be pretty scary.

I just had an early scan and saw a heartbeat. Really excited. 6+1 by dates 5+6 on the scan but that's always +/-2 days anyway. Hubby came along and might be starting to accept its really happening!!

emoji · 14/06/2018 12:54

@imreallyamermaid ah yes the magic of room temperature flat coke! I forgot about it's nausea-relieving powers Smile although for me it has to be in a can, I remember once DH bought me some in a bottle and I almost cried (pregnancy hormones!)

emoji · 14/06/2018 12:56

@emalady not yet. I don't know how far along I am, I think 4.5 weeks only so I won't bother booking anything till week 6 or 7. In my area we can self-refer to the hospital directly so I'll skip the GP all together like last time.

Any other London ladies on here?

emoji · 14/06/2018 12:57

Sorry for the triple post everyone but forgot to say @emalady that's so exciting to see a heartbeat! ❤️❤️ very reassuring

emalady · 14/06/2018 12:58

@emoji, thanks! In terms of GP it was more about the sickness, if you are really struggling may be worth trying medication.

emoji · 14/06/2018 13:14

Oops @emalady I see! My MS hasn't fully kicked in just yet - I'm getting waves of nausea though. My MS with DD started about 5 weeks in and lasted till week 11. So for 6 weeks I constantly had my head in the loo and was vomiting about 8x a day. Really not looking forward to that again.
I had gone to the GP last time and he gave me medication which I put under my gums. From memory it was pretty rank

hayleyfx · 14/06/2018 14:50

That’s my scan booked for Tuesday at 5pm! 😀 I’m so nervous, desperate for this to be good news 🤞

MrsY87 · 14/06/2018 15:40

Exciting you have a scan booked @hayleyfx keeping fingers crossed for good news for you!

Made my booking appointment today..it's not til 19th July as we are away for the 1st two weeks of July. Still toying with the idea of an early scan before we go away...just need to persuade DH!

furandchandeliers · 14/06/2018 16:43

Midwives said they will call me before 9 in the morning to book me a scan tomorrow morning, I haven't had a y more bleeding g and no strong cramps so I'm feeling quite positive.Smilebut we will see!

I actually have an early scan booked for Monday but I'm not sure I could handle not k owing over the weekendBlush

hayleyfx · 14/06/2018 16:56

@MrsY87 thank you! 😀

@furandchandeliers fingers crossed for you! It’s great that you’re getting a scan tomorrow, I hope it goes well 🤞

Picklesandpies · 14/06/2018 16:58

@imreallyamermaid sorry to hear you are feeling a bit grim now. I know it's supposedly a good sign but urgh... it's just the pits. I've just had to run upstairs and be sick after the school run. First time it's not just been retching (which oddly still seems to provide some temporary relief?!)

How are those of you with morning sickness and older school age children dealing with it in terms of not blowing your cover? I'm having to say I've got a migraine but that gives me two days tops! I don't want them to be worried about me but can't tell them yet of course.

Nice to hear some happy scan news! I have one booked for a couple of weeks time. Decided on The Birth Centre in Harley Street as there isn't anywhere good near me. Bit of a trek but hey ho.

Picklesandpies · 14/06/2018 16:59

Best of luck @furandchandeliers with your scan tomorrow. I wouldn't able to wait either! x
