I had my miscarriage confirmed this morning. We're very sad obviously but we were expecting it.

Good luck to all of you and your little beans, I hope they stay safe and strong.

MagicalCreatures · 08/05/2018 07:52

Roomarmoset · 09/05/2018 08:04

I'm so sorry @orangekitkat13

I have an early scan tomorrow at 9, I'm absolutely petrified. I'm slightly further along than I was when I had my last miscarriage but it doesn't get any easier.

I told my boss and she just said 'okay well what time will you be in the office'. Obviously she is sympathetic and caring...Hmm

natashaarr · 09/05/2018 09:28

How far gone are you @roomarmoset? This is the furthest I’ve gotten with my pregnancies (this is my 4th) so I understand why your petrified as I am too!

That isn’t nice of your boss, mine asked me to change the date of my 12 week scan!!! So I now have it at 12+6 :( she’s had children and knows my past so should understand how important it is!

X

December2018 · 09/05/2018 09:34

By law your employer has to give you time off for your appointments/scans and things... I seen my midwife yesterday and she mentioned aqua-natal classes and she said that my boss has to cover my work... they have a duty of care to all of their employees you should put your foot down babes 😘 XX

Roomarmoset · 09/05/2018 09:35

She asked you to change the date Shock that's awful! Although a couple of people have told me to join a union at work due to the way I was treated when I had my last miscarriage. My boss said 'back in my day when you were bleeding it meant you weren't pregnant so I'm not sure what the hospital can do, did you actually have a positive pregnancy test'. That's not really what i needed to hear! Why can't they be more compassionate??

I'll be 6+6 tomorrow. Eeeeeek!

December2018 · 09/05/2018 09:42

I would be reporting her.... that is an awful thing to say! X

Roomarmoset · 09/05/2018 09:46

A few people told me to when I came back to work (had to have 3 weeks off as they thought it was ectopic) but my head wasn't in the right place at the time Sad x

GoldilocksTheGraceless · 09/05/2018 10:37

Hey @Roomarmoset sorry to hear about your experience. I'm an employment Support worker for people with mild/moderate mental health issues and so I see examples of bosses treading the line of harassment and bullying all the time. The hardest part in my opinion is not knowing whether you're 'blowing it out of proportion' or if the way you're being treated really is illegal/unprofessional to the point where something can be done about it.

My advice to you is to start a log, just keep it to yourself for the time being, and record the dates, times, and what was said as they happen. Do your best to have conversations with your boss with at least someone else in the room (though I totally understand that this often isn't possible), and after a little while that discrete log will become your own source of power. Firstly this keeps your confidence in place, instead of second guessing yourself you know what was said, and secondly if you do choose to take it further at some stage then you can.
Right now what's happening is unpleasant and insensitive, but (fx all being well!!!) when it comes to taking mat leave you want to know you're being treated fairly.

Best of luck with everything! 💗

Bluergh- had to run and be sick this morning. I’m 6+2 today and pretty sure sickness started at 6+3 with DS so this one is following a pretty set pattern!
