I have recently found out I am pregnant and I believe baby would be due 6th January 2019. I know it is such early days, but are there any other Mums-to-be out there who have just discovered they are pregnant and who will be due next year? Sounds crazy saying that!...

Hello @leliana. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

LG93 · 25/05/2018 12:27

Just been sick at work - definitely less fun than being sick at home (and that's not fun to start with!) Can't wait for this phase to pass...

Frenchiemamax · 25/05/2018 13:01

Oh no LG can you go home for the rest of the day?

jellyfish2210 · 25/05/2018 13:03

@LG93 that happened to me last week. It's miserable. Does your boss know you're pregnant? Thankfully mine does and let me have lighter duties for the day and said I could go home if I needed to. Hope you feel less nauseous soon!

LG93 · 25/05/2018 13:15

Thanks ladies. Sadly can't go home today as we're massively short staffed. it's just a desk job so not too strenuous so will push through the rest of the day. My boss does know and I'm glad I told her as the last few days Ive been a bit late from being sick first thing so at least I can just drop her a text and say I'm not having a good morning and will be in when I can rather than having her think I'm being lazy or skiving when I disappear to the toilets for 20 minutes. Everyone's back in next week so I'll be a bit kinder to myself if I need to take some time off then.

Just eaten a chicken wrap so will see how long that stays down for!

Leliana · 25/05/2018 13:29

Has everyone else told work? I still don't really have any symptoms (except for huge, tender boobs, which my colleagues are unlikely to notice!). Hoping to leave sharing the news until after my dating scan - but if I get any symptoms I will have to think about broaching the subject earlier...

How old is everyone? I'm 31. I feel like quite an old first time mum - I am lucky enough to have a secure, well-paid professional job, but due to the structure of the career path, most women in my profession have their children in their late twenties. That said, two of my friends are currently pregnant, so I'm not a total outlier.

Frenchiemamax · 25/05/2018 13:50

Leliana I’ve told one colleague (who’s also my best friend) but I think I’m going to have to tell my boss if the nausea gets any worse! I also have sore boobs and am absolutely flipping exhausted ALL THE TIME! I’m 24, and there’s no such thing as an old first time Mum!

OrangeAztec · 25/05/2018 13:52

Hi everyone I would like to tentatively join after an early scan today putting me at 6+6 with a due date of 11th January! So exciting! I thought I was 6+3 so baby is measuring slightly ahead. Not loads of symptoms, feel a bit light headed, swollen boobs but they're not very tender, and feeling very slightly nauseous and tired in the afternoons. I'm 32 and this will be our first.

Fingers crossed for everyone having a healthy nine months.

ohhellojo · 25/05/2018 13:54

@Leliana I’m 28 expecting my first. I work in a male oriented job - out of about about 140 there’s around 15 women including me - and I’m really nervous about telling work because they’ll restrict my workload and I know for a fact I’ll be negatively judged on it. A lass has just come back from maternity and she’s still being slagged off for shirking. Even if I feel proper crap I’m going to try and hold out for as long as I can. I think you have until 15 weeks to your due date to organise Maternity Pay so that’s what I’m aiming for. My OH keeps telling me that if I feel crap at work I must tell them, but we’ll see 😶

gilljill1980 · 25/05/2018 14:08

Hi All,

Just found out I'm pregnant this week, due date Jan 24th and I'm 38 (so definitely an older first time mum!) It still doesn't seem quite real as it was our first month of trying and we were both thinking it would take months. Shell shocked doesn't quite cover it!

Excited and terrified for my first baby! OH doesn't quite believe it as yet but as I'm already feeling sick most days it's easier for me to believe.

Having spent years thinking I didn't want children and telling everyone in my family there was no way I'd ever want children, I'm now kind of dreading having to tell them, go figure!
Hope everyone's feeling as ok as possible and looking forward to the bank holiday weekend!

CharlotteMcG · 25/05/2018 14:17

I work in aviation so I'll have to work straight away 🚁🚁😬 everyone at work will find out before my friends and family but that's the way it works I think! I'm 32 and this will be my first. Trying not to get too excited or plan too far ahead but 🤞🤞 we all have healthy pregnancies! Feeling quite dizzy and tired but other than that feeling ok...

LG93 · 25/05/2018 14:22

Lunch update: so far managed to hold onto my lunch but only because the toilets were out of order while being cleaned so had to force myself to not be sick. Boss has just sent me home so if I can hold on for an hour I'll be home again

To answer someone's age question I'm 25 and this is my first. Baby due 3 weeks before my 26th birthday

loopdeelou · 25/05/2018 14:46

I haven't told anyone at work yet but I'm really lucky and I work from home a fair bit. I'm not due on another trip for a couple of weeks and think I'll tell them then. Don't know how people are managing to hide it if they're in work... I've felt so horrendous and am dying on the sofa. I'm so glad I don't have to see anyone or put on a brave face!

Thank you @CharlotteMcG i've just got back from the scan and thankfully it was just a scare and everything is okay!

When are you due?

CharlotteMcG · 25/05/2018 15:08

@PumpkinPatch000 thank goodness! You must be so relieved! What was it? Some spotting?

I think I'm due Jan 26th (as far as the calculators go) but I've got a GP appointment in a couple of weeks to get all the care started! I'll probably do another test just before to be sure but I think I must've bought about 30 tests so far! Can't quite believe it!

PumpkinPatch000 · 25/05/2018 15:39

We are so relieved and happy. We had a miscarriage in February so it brought it all back. Yes, was just some brown spotting which I had for a few hours. Very very light though.

Oooh lovely! That’s just a few days after me. I’m due 20th Jan. it will feel good to book everything in. I know what you mean about tests! It’s addictive to keep checking!

We are going to book in for a private scan in a few weeks. With everything that has happened waiting to 12 weeks is too long! x

PumpkinPatch000 · 25/05/2018 15:40

Forgot to loop you in @CharlotteMcG sorry x

LG93 · 25/05/2018 16:37

Couldn't hold on to lunch, was sick in a hedge on my way home 😷called the doctors in tears who prescribed me 10 days of anti sickness tablets to see if they work - fingers crossed!

Frenchiemamax · 25/05/2018 16:42

Oh bless you LG that sounds absolutely awful can you pick up your prescription before the weekend starts?

Babit5485 · 25/05/2018 17:18

@PumpkinPatch000 depending on what calculator I use my EDD is 20th or 21st! I also MC'd in Feb, so in exactly the same boat. Am flitting between excitement and anxiety but was v early MC last time so have now passed that same point this time round which is making me feel a lot more positive.

Have booked an early scan for next Thurs, which is a bit early I guess but just keen to check before telling anyone even parents because of what happened last time. Did tell anyone about that and think it made it easier tbh.

I'm 31 (32 when bub arrives) and this will be our first. Game changer!! 😊

Babit5485 · 25/05/2018 17:19

*didnt tell anyone I mean.!

peaches1991 · 25/05/2018 17:26

So my plain sailing seems to be over...morning sickness has creeped in the last few days and this morning I nearly passed out at work. Not ideal as I was about to have an interview for an additional role! Anyone got any tips for light headedness?

polkadotjersey · 25/05/2018 17:31

Natural Cycles has my EDD as 25th January so very close to some of you. I'm 31 and will be 32 by then. I don't feel old to be a FTM as most of my friends don't have kids yet.

I haven't told work but may have to soon if my general queasiness turns into more. I teach in a tiny village primary school and the only staff toilet is right outside the head's office so she might twig!

jennac · 25/05/2018 17:41

I’m 29 currently, will be 30 by the time January comes around. This is my first too. I’m trying not to worry about stuff but it’s really hard sometimes. It’s 4 weeks today til my 12 week scan so I’m just praying that they go smoothly. Have considered a private scan in the interim but have read so much about ultrasounds and how they should be kept to a minimum because of harmful rays etc, so going to hold off!! Is anyone else 5th Jan?x

KimBeau · 25/05/2018 18:17

Hi @jennac. I'm 33 years old and this is our first baby. I'm 8+2 and I have an early scan on Monday and my 12w scan on 20 June (couldn't wait until then!).

I've generally been relaxed and positive about everything but I am a little nervous about Monday, hoping something is really there etc. I feel pregnant though and my period hasn't come again so I'm pretty certain I'm still pregnant 😂 I'm EXHAUSTED too!

I'm due 2-6 Jan - every online calculator tells me something different!
