So sorry to catch up on the thread and see sad news. Thinking of those ladies Sad and really hope things from here are as swift and simple as possible for them.

Good luck for tomorrow @TheImprobableGirl

Yay @keepinghopeful

I have to be honest I sort of assumed I was going to have a miscarriage. Now I am getting used to the idea of things just going okay it makes me even more fearful something will happen just as I let my guard down. I won't (hopefully if nothing occurs) have a scan until after 11 weeks! I would like to just pretend I am not pregnant until then but at the moment I am either asleep, gobbling every carb within sight or feeling nauseous so it's difficult to forget! Ive been glugging appletise I found in the cupboard from an old meal deal. It helps!

MiniMinions · 06/04/2018 01:42

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer how strange that you've been told got to have the GD test later on, I'm 5ft 7, BMI of 31 (so classed as obese too), size 18 and they didn't say about that with me. I had to have the GD eating breakfast test thing last time as bump was big bigger bit that was all.

My booking appt went well but Breath level was higher they think probably traffic based as I haven't smoked in 4 years and boiler recently serviced etc.

sarahhh1984 · 06/04/2018 06:09

At my booking in they said they only usually worry about your BMI if it comes in at 35 or more. Mine was a little high (overweight) which concerned me but mw said it wasn't surprising as I was currently pregnant and I'd had a baby less than a year ago. So it does sound odd, @GiveMummyTheWhizzer, that they'd want you to take the test as you're taller than me and only one clothes size bigger.

@MiniMinions Breath test will almost certainly be down to traffic mw said the closer to the city centre women live, the higher their readings are.

@Amarettoplease Lovely to read such a positive story! Lewisham's set up sounds the same as Liverpool's. As you may have read in my earlier post, things didn't go to plan for me so it was brilliant that the delivery Suite was only a corridor away from the MLU when I needed to be transferred.

Got my private scan at 4.40 today. Logically I know there's a good chance of it being fine as they found a heartbeat and measurements were more or less right at my early scan but can't help being nervous. Will be interested to see how I'm measuring. LMP puts me at 9+2 today but early scan would have me at exactly 9 weeks. If everything's OK then I wonder if baba's catching up like DD did... She was measured at about 5 days behind at early scan but then ended up 3 days ahead at 12 week scan! 😂

toasterstrudle · 06/04/2018 07:02

Good luck @sarahhh1984 !!

A friend of mine had a higher than expected reading too @MiniMinions, mw wasn't concerned as thought likely traffic but she told her work and they did an assessment of her workplace, although they found no carbon monoxide. She had a healthy baby last year!

MeredithShepherd · 06/04/2018 07:06

I’ve not had a carbon monoxide test at either of my booking in appts. They must not do them round here as I live ‘the country!’

Shrimpi · 06/04/2018 07:21

@GiveMummyTheWhizzer

My midwife told me I will have the glucose load test at 28 weeks though I have no risk factors for GDM and normal BMI. Is this everyone else's experience?

Could your midwife have meant that you'll have it later on (as in, not early) because your BMI isn't a risk factor?

sarahhh1984 · 06/04/2018 07:39

Thank you @toasterstrudle!

LastNightsMakeUp · 06/04/2018 07:49

Re: GDM, in my last pg my trust tested every women but mw said they've stopped doing that unless you have risk factors or if you have more than one positive sugar reading in your urine dipstick at appointments. I think I had it around 28ish weeks last time.

Didn't have carbon monoxide testing this time either - I live in a village. My last level was zero and that was when I lived in central London so not sure how accurate it is?!

Good luck today @sarahhh1984

TinyPawz · 06/04/2018 07:59

@sarahhh1984 good luck today

sarahhh1984 · 06/04/2018 08:16

I think that's the case in my trust too, @LastNightsMakeUp.

Thank you for the well wishes, you too @TinyPawz! Really wish it was a morning appointment so I could get it over and done with, but you can't have everything!

sarahhh1984 · 06/04/2018 08:17

Oh, and good luck today, @TheImprobableGirl! I have my fingers crossed for you.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 06/04/2018 09:48

@Shrimpi yes Appletiser! But really cold. To be honest the colder the drink at the moment the nicer I find it. I had a slush the other day and it was amazing!

@Shrimpi @MiniMinions @sarahhh1984 she measured my BMI at bang on 30 so that must be the cut off here. Said I would have the test approx 28 weeks. I've always been heavy - even when I was 18 years old and a size 10 I weighed 12stone and there was nothing of me. I think it's my giant thighs that do it Blush

I have literally no other risk factors though which is a bonus.

Feeling less sick than I have been. Still nauseous a lot but better than constantly all day.

Good luck to everyone with scans and stuff today.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 06/04/2018 09:49

No idea what went wrong with the bold and tagging in that post sorry! Hmm

Amarettoplease · 06/04/2018 10:03

Good luck today improbablegirl. I have my booking appointment this morning. DS is going to nursery and DH and I will go to Ikea after the appointment for some bits for DS’s room and meatballs. Trying to make the most of the Easter break in between feeling exhausted.

There seems to be so much variation in what happens at these appointments, not sure what to expect really. I don’t remember having a breath test last time and I’m in London. I did have the GTT due to ethnicity and almost fainted walking around a shop with my mum afterwards. Note- a pregnant woman sitting on the floor in the corner attracts a lot of concerned attention!

olderthanyouthink · 06/04/2018 10:36

Good luck @sarahhh1984 & @TheImprobableGirl

@Amarettoplease what ethnicities have the GTT? I'm keen to avoid needles as much as possible 😩 I'm mixed white and Afro-Caribbean

My weight a few months ago would put me borderline underweight but given my constant eating, I should be healthy weight now I think

@keepinghopeful was you super clear scan a transvaginal (sorry) one?

Feeling much better now, hopefully Tuesday was the worst of the feeling icky.
I've still not heard from St Thomas' yet and I should have had something in the post by now. Emailed their helpline this morning and I guess I'll call them later.

keepinghopeful · 06/04/2018 10:58

@olderthanyouthink it was a trans one which prob meant so clear!

Im so ill during night these nights where im up wretching ... took today off work as was no fit state to go in this am!

TheImprobableGirl · 06/04/2018 11:43

Well me and my 9+5 baby are still around!
It was wiggling about quite happily, got its yolk sac and a heartbeat and everything; and both ovaries look fine - but still bleeding, very random.

Thanks so much for all the support everyone, seems we're sticking around for the moment! Roll on 12 weeks

toasterstrudle · 06/04/2018 11:53

Fantastic news @TheImprobableGirl so good to have some lovely news on here too.

BunBunMum · 06/04/2018 11:57

Brilliant news @theimprobablegirl

Feels weird being towards the back of the ‘bus’ as I’m max 6+4 today! Seems like sooo long to go as our midwives don’t even do booking in until 10wks! I have phoned the Drs today though to tell them so starts the ball rolling!

Aussi · 06/04/2018 12:03

TheImprobableGirl Great news! 👍

TheImprobableGirl · 06/04/2018 12:04

Doesn't mean you'll stay at the back of the bus BunBun Grin

sarahhh1984 · 06/04/2018 12:10
