Have you got a big plastic sheet for the floor Holly? IIRC the birthing room resembled an abattoir once I'd finished with it

daisybump · 11/05/2007 15:58

i've actually got some left over from when DS was using them and you're welcome to them.....
....but you might be quicker nipping out to the corner shop

daisybump · 11/05/2007 15:58

Nice image sputnik

sputnik · 11/05/2007 15:59

I tried muslins on DD as newborn. Still quite bulky. The best was one of those nappy booster insert things in a nappy wrap

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:00

I'mgoing to go and buy some plastic sheeting or shower curtains from B&Q. LOL at abbatoir! Birthing is a messy business! I remember with dd my waters broke as her head came out and there was this tremendous gush! I'm so glad I was in the pool, it would have soaked the mw otherwise!

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:01

Sorry, I've obviously got blood, placentas and drippy steaks on the brain today.
I find that as the event is coming closer I'm mentally going over all those things I'd hurriedly forgotten about the birth

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:03

I couldn't believe how big the placenta was! I was very interested in it and made the student mw show it to me in detail! As an ex zoology student I have seen and chopped apart many a placenta, but none was as big as mine!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 16:14

I love this place.....check out this . If I hadn't already posted on it I could've gone on all umpity about all those words offending my sensibilities

.....who's gonna do it....dare you !

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:15

Huge aren't they! Enough for a good 12 portions of placenta lasagna at least. You could invite the nieghbours over

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:16

You could make a placenta pie by wrapping it in pastry! That would be nice!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:18

TBH I hate all the words for girl's bits daisy, they are all horrible! Maybe I should air my grievences! Or maybe not!

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:18

Cut into thin strips, coat in flour and fry in butter, yum.

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:19

We're stuck with bottom atm

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:19

Not that I'm going to try it, but I wonder what it would taste like! It would prob make me very ill though seeing as I haven't eaten meat for 17 years!

notsolilKel · 11/05/2007 16:24

help help calling all you interweb experts - i need a cm square cushion cover (no sewing machine here)... SOS!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:25

How big lilkel? What pattern/colour? I'll find you one!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 16:26

I'll definately give some to my miserable neighbour who just drove on the pavement and missed me by about a foot. When I said "Excuse me..its usually not the done thing to drive on the pavement when pedestrians are passing", she told me to Piss Off.....Miserable old witch. I just smiled sweetly and told her there was no need for that sort of language. Just wait till I get the spikes for the side of my new pram....like the chariot in Ben Hur.

It's meant to taste a bit like liver....watched a cookery programmee years ago with Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall where they made pate and fed it to their guests at the baby's naming ceremony

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:30

Lilkel, a cm square cushion cover? Is it for the dolls house?
I know you are just trying desperately to change the subject

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:31

I farking hate neighbours, they are all tossers! Dp nearly had a fight with next door but one the other day, it was quite amusing! He is a mad man and called dp a nonce and asked him if he wanted to have a go! Stupid wanker!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 16:32

right....time for tea...liver and onions tonight I think

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:32

LOL at the woman on the girl's bit's thread who had to practice saying vagina etc in front of the mirror

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:33

My neighbour is a treasure.
Had some from hell once though.

sputnik · 11/05/2007 16:34

Or black pudding perhaps, Daisy

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 16:34

I'm going to have to improvise with my dinner as our food sitch is as dire as the nappy one! It might have to be random combos of food from the freezer! Potato wedges and pie or something as strange!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 16:35

Ours are generally alright considering the average age in this street is about 65 (and DS goes a long way to bringing that average down), although we have one who has to know everyone's business...a real curtain twitcher, and the family over the road have got a Westie pup who, cute though he is, is left barking at all hours of the day and night. I made DH go and complain about it, asit wke me up twice at the weekend barking at 10:45pm....she gave me a bit of a wide berth when I saw her earlier today, but I haven't heard the dog barking all week!
