NattyThomasandEllen · 11/05/2007 12:24

hullo guys!
after phoning the hospital this morning have found that i am STILL anemic (sp?) 10.1 so ive been taking iron tablets 4 times a day, and dealing with CHRONIC constipation (tmi sorry) for what? 0.1! 0. f*cking 1!!!
anyone else have a problem with persistant anemia? i get all breathless and dizzy randomly (apperntly a symptom of it) and feel like crap today. im having a down few days, sorry to depress u all xx

daisybump · 11/05/2007 12:37

I thought anything less than 11 was low Natty. Mine has been hovering around 11.8-11.9 which MW says is OK.

sputnik · 11/05/2007 12:53

Poor you Natty, as if you don't have enough on youe plate. I've heard a lot of people on here swear by Spatone (no constipation), and dried apricots too are supposed to be very good, as are eggs, oily fish, red meat, nuts and..... CHOCOLATE
Make sure you get enough vitamin C too as it increases iron absorbtion

trace2 · 11/05/2007 12:58

morning all, natty great to see you back! dont know how it works but mine was 5.8 was told i was ok, but yes feeling very tired and sick of being pg now. i go for a scan in two weeks and hopping they take me in( dont think they will though.

daisy i too said i would try for normal this time but i think i have changed my mind they keep trying to change it back, but with my spd i am so scared i had c secton with jack as spd was so bad. so when i go on 24th am hopping for a date too.

sorry i missed the baby shower again, i dont go out an housebound so i thought i better leave it, and i dont get on here much coz is sooooooooo makes me sore , wish i had lap top

so some of our babys could be comming soon (i realy hope so) whos going to be first??

ill try to keep up with you allxxxx

trace2 · 11/05/2007 12:59

oops afternoon bi time i finished it

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:03

Trace...good to hear from you. How are things with the bub...do you have any more news or is it a case of wait and see? Sorry about the SPD...I get the odd twinge and my sacro-iliac joint constantly aches, but nothing too bad. You're near me somewhere aren't you? (Leeds). D'you fancy a meet up when the bub is out and you can get about again...or even before hand. You have my e-mail?

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:03

Oh natty, that's shit! I can vouch for spatone, no constipation here, quite the opposite in fact! I wonder if you ask your doctor you may be able to get it on prescription? Hope you feel better soon.

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:04

Raisins are good too I think...or amybe that's just for constipation....Trace 5.8 sounds horribly low....

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:06

Just had a look at La Redoute...it's not expensive is it? Don't know where I got that idea.....but anyway, they seem to be out of stock on a lot of the nursing stuff.....

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:07

Baked beans are good too! Work for both iron and constipation! Super food!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:09

They are out of stock of some of the colours, but if you choose a different colour on some of the things they have stock. I wanted the pj set in raspberry, but that is out of stock, might get it in grey instead. Vertbaudet has a lovely nightie with cardi set that looks almost like a dress, it's really pretty!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:15

Oooo, I like this !!

mytwocents · 11/05/2007 13:20

I've got the grandad long sleeved top in pink , it's great, really soft cotton and comfortable
Glad to hear from you trace, I hope you get a date, sounds like it would put your mind at rest.

natty, I'm anaemic and always have been, since being pregnant mine has got down to 7 which is when they start threatening me with hospital, 10.01 is really not that bad but there are things you can take.
Try Floradix, you get it in a big bottle from health food shops ( get some spatone while your there) It tastes a bit weird but does up your levels. make sure you take it in the morning with O.J , when taking any sort of iron, tablet or supplement, avoid milk, eggs, tea or coffee for at least 3 hours. It is a bugger I know but all these things inhibit the body s ability to absorb iron. Eat cornflakes, special K, pumpkin seeds , apricots, and anything green and leafy, kale and any dark green cabbage is great, also watercress, esp strong english stuff is good....
You should only have to take 4 a day for a few weeks....

BadZelda · 11/05/2007 13:21

That is pretty! Am currently wearing a selection of old nursing bras from last time none of which quite fit (not all at the same time, I hasten to add). I seem to have gone into denial about any kind of shopping, and just haven't got a shopping eye at the moment. To the point where I am down to one really tatty pair of shoes and some worn out trainers...but really can't be arsed to buy any more despite having cash to go and get some. This strange shopping intertia has affected me through the whole pregnancy pretty much - have bought two maternity tops, and one pair of trousers and that's it. Shops just stress me out and make me depressed. Is there something wrong with me?

BadZelda · 11/05/2007 13:21

In fact: maybe I should get a personal shopper? Nice idea, shame I'm not a millionaire...

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:30

That bra is nice HandA....but not big enough for my norks.......think i'm gonna need a G cup

LOL BadZ at the image of wearing lots of differnet bras...I've got loads in different sizes from various PGS and none of them bloody fit properly....must start a second hand maternity clothing exchange...I've got enough of the stuff.

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:40

Maybe I'll get one of these sets!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:42

Ooooh...just had some exciting news.....my friend has had her baby... She went from 4cms to holding the bub in 40 minutes apparently, and had him in the bath even though she had a pool all set up She'd been to hypnobirthing classes....some of the April mums who did hypnobirthing had really quick labours too!!

daisybump · 11/05/2007 13:43

HandA.....but you might have trouble keeping the breast pads in place!!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:43

Wow daisy that was quick! I don't think I could have a baby in my bath, there wouldn't be enough room with my great hulking mass!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:44

Can someone please tell me the point of crotchless knickers?!

mytwocents · 11/05/2007 13:47

So you don't have to take them off to give birth....

riabutterflew · 11/05/2007 13:47

Only a G? Lucky you .

I am feeling quite ill -dizzy with nasty BH -(no doubt too much crawling around washing floors) and am heading for the sofa for a rest whilst secretly hoping that my friend might cancel as DS2 has stuff ALL OVER the floor and I do not feel able to pick it up at the moment. I am SO unhospitable. We would have to sit in the bathroom anyway as it's the only totally clean and tidy room in the house.

It will have to be a short rest!

hollyandalice · 11/05/2007 13:47

Oh, cunning! Surely the big fat maternity towels would poke out everywhere!

BadZelda · 11/05/2007 13:51

Sounds nasty Ria - maybe your friend will be feeling kind and tidy up for you?
