Have been wondering... does anyone know if labour always starts the same way for the same woman? (My waters went first both times before).
Suppose I'll have to think about it sooner or later

Should go and do some work - maybe a chocolate mini roll first...

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 13:25

Ria I don't think so...though no expert, only having had one...but this pregnancy has been pretty different from 1st one, so it's not a great stretch of imagination to assume that labour might be different too?

Waters were broken by final stage / pushing last time for me.

derlor · 09/05/2007 13:27

of how that mighty have all fallen - we were all fairly upbeat and cheery until about last week then "BANG" we are now a bunch of disasters!!!!
everyone is falling apart and it's just not fair!!!!! - wonder if it happens about this time with every antinatal thread
we need cheering up girlies and i'm not sure what the solution is????
maybe this ?

God derlor - I think we have really different taste in men!

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 13:30

(Not that that's a bad thing of course)

derlor · 09/05/2007 13:32

Ria definately not the same for everyone or even from 1 birth to the next - my waters never even broke last time - DD was born with little cap filled with my waters on her head (very lucky supposedly) never had a show either - just felt off colour all day then BAM!!! 2.5 hours of contractions followed by baby
nearly drowned myself with amount of water that leaked from me with DS 1 st time round so not even close in similarity.

Was just thinking about that as it happens...johnny depp does it for me...and ray liotta years ago in goodfellas (though he hasn't aged well)...robbie williams if we're talking 'skanky' but there's something dark and twisted about him that appeals to me...

notsolilKel · 09/05/2007 13:38

Hiya!

BZ, at least you have us to help celebrate your last day at work. Maybe you can convince your colleagues to jet out early for that pint. Beer is good for the baby, you know...

Boiler guy in London - we use Carshalton heating - any use, let me know and I'll email you. Can u pls send me your guys' details? kelly(underscore)voetsch at yahoo dot come cheers!!

Not sure if baby has engaged here or not. When I sit down it feels like it's coming out over the waistband of my jeans and sitting right between my legs tho, IYKWIM?? Also walking makes me want to run to toilet ASAP. Any idea if this is engaging? DS1 didn't engage till 12hrs into labour - ouch...

MW appt yesterday, nothing exciting, except confirmation that baby's heartrate is defo "girl" (over 140bpm) so hoo-ray hopefully can keep the pink ruffly stuff I got!

DKMA hope your ribs recover and Derlor hope your pelvic pain is sorted out by the weekend!!

derlor · 09/05/2007 13:39

oh Johnny depp YYYYUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMM

NotsoLilkel - I have that feeling quite a lot over the last week or so - that and the sensation that something is headbutting my bladder / cervix. Not sure it's engaging though - just wriggling I think? Feet are still sticking into my ribs, and doing strange alien impressions out of the sides of my torso, In fact had to laugh at look of horror on fellow bus passenger's face this morning as she noticed my rippling stomach area...

derlor · 09/05/2007 14:14

here is another one for you BX
have to say i think this is a particularly good one of him x

Speaking of people giving you funny looks - and TBH you can't blame them can you, it is a bit alien and odd a process - but still...

the following surely must get award for rude comment of the week! I was at a playgroup with DS yesterday when one of the volunteers (little bitty old lady) comes up, smiles, asks me how much longer to go (so far so good), I say, oh a couple of weeks ha ha ha, she then reaches out and touches my bump (this is where I quite literally nearly almost screamed out 'you toucha my bump, I smasha you face!!!) and then she says, with this stupid hateful old lady smile, "oh are you sure there is just one in there?" Ohhhh I could have really hit her!!

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 14:21

Maybe it's just me - but I don't really mind people touching the bump...depends on the person though.

derlor · 09/05/2007 14:23

i had a similar comment a few weeks ago by a nastl lady in our local park - makes you wanna punch her doesn't it!!!!!
i'm not usually a violent person but "FUCK OFF" very loudly then SLAP would have me feel a whole lot better when it happened to me - you should have stroked her face and said "eeuugghh - sure you shouldn't be getting some plastic surgery love!!!!"

foxybrown · 09/05/2007 14:30

Next person who does it I'm going to reach out and touch them back. In the eye. With a sharp poke.

notsolilKel · 09/05/2007 14:31

yeah she was just creepy and not many people try to touch the bump but when she did I wanted to shrink away - eeughhhh

gotta run DS awake let the fun begin!

BrownSuga · 09/05/2007 14:49

one of MIL's dear old friends tapped me on the rump and said I was getting a J-Lo. Didn't know whether to cry at the insult or be amused that a 75yo knows who J-Lo is!

But I am getting tired of people calling me fat, it's called pregnancy last time I checked.

Does everyone get BH's, as I don't think I've experienced any yet, or do some just bypass them altogether? Haven't had HB either as far as I can tell, but do get this kind of bubble of air feeling in my throat that is uncomfortable.

(1.5 days of work to go)

daisybump · 09/05/2007 15:05

Had a lovely nap and then a lovely lovely lunch...baby dropping means I've regained my stomach capacity and have eaten huge amounts...including pickled gherkins and jalapenos which have resulted in...wait for it....NO Bloddy heartburn

Had nice girly chat about all things baby (one of my mates is about 11 weeks) and feeling much better about the world. Still feel tired and a bit grumpy, but better for getting out and about a bit.

Off to waddle round to school to get DS.

A night out to see some male strippers....that's what we need (never seen a male stripper in my life before, but suddenly have the urge

I've been lurking around May as well, but it was all getting a bit gruesome and TMI....all that talk of plugs and shows [eeeeewwwww]

Hi BrownSuga.....everytime I see your name, I have to dig out DHs Stones album cos I get that bloody song out of my head!

BrownSuga · 09/05/2007 15:09

I don't think I know the song daisy , will have to look it up. chose that as a friend in oz used to call me it.

off home now, i love 7hr days. only another 11hrs of work to get through, yeeha.

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 15:12

Have just had a strop about having to hang around all day waiting for people to meet with me to wrap up the work I'm doing here. They did most reasonably point out I am being paid for my time, but how is that supposed to make me feel better when I have BHs, am WAY TOO HOT and bored out of my tiny mind??? Eh? Eh? Eh? Stroppy, moi?

Oh and it turns out I have to buy all the drinks after work, as I'm the contractor...pah

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 15:14

Brown sugar just makes me think of heroin...nice! (not that I am suggesting there's ANY connection BS!)

daisybump · 09/05/2007 15:40

I think that's what the song is about! but being an innocent sweet young thing, I wouldn't know anything about such matters

BadZelda · 09/05/2007 15:41

It is about that. Akasha did a great brown sugar remiz with PM Dawn as well - not at home so I can't whack up a sample but it's lovely.
