Ah from my understanding they dont do tbe harmony test here? Nuchal and that amino long name test if fhe nuchal is high risk.

I go on Thursday for the scan and will ask questions. Thank you

Shut YUP but I think its because I didn't manage to do much in the early weeka because of HG and thankfully im feeling a little better so keep doing loads and ive told hubby i want to redecorate living room, nursery and landings inc carpet before (on landings) baby is here.
Ive got an urge to wash the carpet but will wait until kids go back to school

LostMyBaubles · 24/02/2018 15:37

Ah its £405 here for the harmony test. Defo cant afford it

kirinm · 24/02/2018 15:39

@Nixen how long did it take for your results to come back? My hospital offers the harmony for free if you come back with a risk greater than 1:1000 which I'm expecting to (if baby is still okay) just because of my age.

MonaTheMoaner · 24/02/2018 15:53

@ShutTheFridgeUp me! I'm obsessed with planning the house and it being spotless and smelling lovely right now.

Nixen · 24/02/2018 16:00

@kirinm I had an appt to go back two weeks after my blood was taken for the test, to get the results. However look at the test paperwork the results came back to the clinic after 9 days, but they say they won’t contact you unless you’re high risk.

Fia256 · 24/02/2018 16:31

I feel like I've been nesting pretty much from the start this time round! I had a huge spring clean yesterday too. Just keep finding clutter and kids toys etc are getting me down constantly even we don't have a cluttered house anyway!

kirinm · 24/02/2018 16:33

@Nixen is the FMC Professor Nicolaides? (Excuse spelling). He's my hospital's head fetal person.

Nixen · 24/02/2018 16:37

Yes that’s correct @kirinm - you’re in very good hands at Kings then!

kirinm · 24/02/2018 16:39

Yeah I'm genuinely happy to be at Kings. It's their EPU I've been going to,too.

Nixen · 24/02/2018 16:41

From what I’ve heard Kings are fantastic so fingers crossed you’re getting the very best of care Kirinm

CuppaSarah · 24/02/2018 16:59

Nixen I missed your message about your harmony results! Congratulations on your tiny little girl!! Fabulous the odds so beautifully low!

Nixen · 24/02/2018 17:24

Thanks @Cuppa how are you keeping?

Namechangedtoscream · 24/02/2018 22:52

Lovely news there Nixen! How fabulous to find out this early!

I'm struggling at the moment. My back is really hurting me. I usually manage with regular paracetamol and naproxen but my Dr said no naproxen in pregnancy and omg it's so so painful right now. I have SI joint issues and arthritis in the lumbar spine and if it's painful now I'm dreading the next few months. What have I done?!

ShutTheFridgeUp · 25/02/2018 08:05

I'm so glad it's not just me!

MonaTheMoaner · 25/02/2018 08:28

@Namechangedtoscream I feel you. I have SI joint issues and hyper mobility alongside the fibromyalgia and my back is in half. I need to click it several times a day and used to manage on a cocktail of strong painkillers so having nothing but paracetamol (which doesn't touch it at all) is debilitating. The GP told me I can take cocodamol in pregnancy which takes the edge off so that may help?

Fia256 · 25/02/2018 08:35

Oh wow nixen I missed that too! How exciting, and your the first one out of us to know the gender!

Really feel for those of you with back pain and issues! I don't have it in general but ever since being pregnant with DC1 I've suffered around my lower back/hips/bum area. If I sit or lie in the wrong position it ceases up and randomly will cause sciatica already! Never had it looked into properly though!

Twinkletoes2018 · 25/02/2018 10:26

Does anyone else have a home Doppler? Did anyone use one in a previous pregnancy I've just made myself incredibly anxious as if I wasn't anxious already I was hunting fir the hb yesterday and then thought got what time is it and I'd been at it ages. I stupidly googled it and read awful stuff about overuse so I rang the midwife and she said not to worry but I'm still worried and feeling incredibly anxious that I may have harmed the baby.

TheBlindspot · 25/02/2018 10:59

You won't have harmed your baby @Twinkletoes2018! Try not to worry. Midwives often struggle to find a heartbeat with professional dopplers at your 16 week appointment.

I am massively against home doppler use though. There's a petition to have them banned going round at the moment. One, because they cause such worry when a non professional can't find a heartbeat. Two because it's extremely difficult as a non professional to tell the difference between a fetal heartbeat, the placental pulse and sometimes even your own heartbeat and three, mistaking fetal heartbeat for either of those two can cause some people to think everything is fine when they should be in hospital getting checked out.

Please avoid them ladies. The Kicks Count organisation really know their stuff www.kickscount.org.uk/want-ban-home-dopplers/

LostMyBaubles · 25/02/2018 11:46

Im against them as ive read way too many times that baby has stopped moving/ reduced movements and mother uses doppler to ease her mind. Finds heartbeat thinking everything is ok but infact she found her own heartbeat or the placenta pulse and the baby didnt make it.

Namechangedtoscream · 25/02/2018 11:48

Sounds like we have the exact same problems Mona. I can't take codeine though as I'm allergic to it

dingdongdigeridoo · 25/02/2018 12:16

I agree with you TheBlindspot. Home dopplers are a bad idea. They’re medical equipment and should be treated as such, not sold in Argos.

I’m worried about getting SPD in this pregnancy. Had it last time round and ended up on crutches towards the end. Apparently it can get worse the second time and come on sooner.

Mrsssmith11 · 25/02/2018 12:17

I thought I was feeling a bit better. I'm 11 weeks today. But today I can't stomach drinking juice. I'm on the water, I know that's not a bad thing but im not usually a huge fan of drinking water on its own.

LostMyBaubles · 25/02/2018 12:25

Ding im already getting pelvic pain. This is my 4th pregnancy.
I will be seeing consultant in 2 weeks so will ask them for physio referral asap

Fia256 · 25/02/2018 12:58

Is anyone else really over emotional/bad mood swings over stupid things a lot?

I'm finding if anyone says the slightest thing to me that I don't like or disagrees with what I've said etc, normally I'd just think oh fuck off thenGrin and not think any more about it. whereas at the minute, EVERYTHING is making me burst into tears and making me feel sorry for myself! I even know I'm being ridiculous but I just can't stop it!! I'm just so bloody touchy at the minute, I feel like a little child who starts sobbing everytime they are told no or if anything doesn't go their way Blush

TheBlindspot · 25/02/2018 13:14

@Fia256 I am very easily irritated and tearful at the minute.

Trying very hard not to be snappy with DH. I did bite at DM when she rang me yesterday and randomly out of nowhere started harping on about a box of my old stuff that she'd found in her garage that she wanted to bring round to my house for me to sort out right there and then! I'd just woken up from a power nap, felt awful, and the thought of sorting anything was just not happening. I said nicely could I pick it up next week, and she started saying it'd been there for years and she wanted it sorted and I snapped and told her to throw it all in the bin.

Oh,she said I can't do that there's nice stuff in there. Some lovely shoes and bags! I had a bit of a huff and told her I didn't give a shit, I hadn't missed it in the ten years since I left home so just chuck it out.

I did say sorry for snapping when she turned up without the box to see DD an hour later. She made me so ragey though! Argh.
