Hurrah, smoked salmon all round then!

I think the Ovia pregnancy app is American because the dangerous foods list is waaaay more cautious than usual. I know in the USA they advise you to drink zero alcohol too, whereas the NHS are a bit more relaxed.

MonaTheMoaner · 23/02/2018 23:23

Thank you @TheBlindspot you saviour! I'll pick some up tomorrow if I can!

Twinkletoes2018 · 24/02/2018 00:11

@dingdongdigeridoo my midwife said no alcohol at all this time. Last time I was pregnant think they said a small amount

TheBlindspot · 24/02/2018 07:48

@dingdongdigeridoo The official advice now is that there is no safe known quantity of alcohol so zero is what's recommended. That's here and in the US. Was the same when I had my DD 2 years ago.

I suppose the issue is they will never be able to test what's actually safe - no one is going to run tests on expectant mothers and unborn babies. So it's safer to say have none. Again it's one of those things you need to consider and decide for yourself. I'll eat a tiny bit of very fresh pate, or have a slightly pink steak (I'd normally just have it flashed in the pan and mooing still!) but for me, the risks of drinking are too high so I have zero alcohol during pregnancy. I'm not a big drinker anyway so it doesn't bother me.

Flybynight1 · 24/02/2018 07:57

I watched a documentary on tv about alcohol in pregnancy and they were scanning pregnant mothers before and after a drink (which they were going to have anyway, wasn't just for the purposes of the program) and the feral movements were regularly less after alcohol than before. The exact impact of this on the baby is unknown but it was enough for me to see that the baby is being affected by the alcohol to just go tee total.

Just checking in on this thread. 10+6 today. I feel like this first trimester is taking forever. I don't remember 8 weeks being so long last time! Just over a week til my scan. Thank goodness.

kirinm · 24/02/2018 09:00

Our bastard neighbours downstairs had a massive party last night. It started at 10:30pm and went on till 3:30am. I can't believe how loud it was and their apparent inability to appreciate that it might be unreasonable. DP was up at 6:30am for work. I've got a massive headache!

I'm so stressed still as I'm still having bleeding - they did say that could happen, it's currently brown blood which is sort of reassuring. I'm going to have a really chilled weekend ahead of Monday's scan.

What is everyone else up to?

HannahJH · 24/02/2018 09:11

Hello!
Chilled weekend here as DH been poorly and DD was sick once yesterday so just hoping that’s over with!!
My scan is a week on Monday at an estimated 11+3 so a good chance I’ll hacw another scan!

Hope everyone is feeling ok and has a lovely weekend.

Kirin I’ve got everything crossed for you xx

Mrsssmith11 · 24/02/2018 09:36

I'm basically running around for dd today. She's at her gymnastics class right now, I'm sitting outside waiting for her. Then we're heading into town to buy tickets for her dance show she's going to be in. Then we've to go get her proper dance shoes for the show. Fun fun fun.

Sals27 · 24/02/2018 10:00

My midwife told me one drink once or twice a week is allowed. But then she also told me no runny eggs and no blue cheese including stilton (NHS website says stilton is allowed) so I don't think shes up to date on the guidelines. I'm going for no alcohol. Its only 9 months and at this point, I'm actually enjoying not drinking.

Kirin Your neighbours are twats. Hope you manage to nap later. Brown blood sounds like its that blood they could see on the scan. I'm so hopeful for you that all will be ok on Monday!

We're going car shopping today. DP drives a heap of shit and has decided he wants a safer more family friendly car.

CuppaSarah · 24/02/2018 10:04

We're all finally on the mend, so a lovely relaxed day is in order. Was meant to have my nephews, but will have them a different day, dd and my eldest dn get so silly together! Instead we're going to my dads for a roast dinner. Dad is definitely suspicious, asked me if we're planning anymore while looking at my stomach.

Mona how are you doing? Hope the dizzyness is gone.

kirin hopefully once this brown bleeding finished it will stay away for good!

LostMyBaubles · 24/02/2018 11:06

Aww nixen! Thats amazing. How did you find out? Via bloods? Which ones? Id love to know early lol

Kirin it's awful when neighbours are like that.

Im having a nice cleany day.
Got headache as well so will rest inbetween

Hope everyone is enjoying the blue sky even though its freezing lol

Katsanddogs · 24/02/2018 11:35

Just realised I'm not on the list!
Can someone add me please?
Katsanddogs, 26, DC1, edd 20/09/18.

Lovely to see some more good scans.
Mine is on the 14th march, I'll be 12+6. Can't wait!
Scan pics at my hosp is 6.50 for 1 or 20.50 for 4!! Dp can't understand paying for a picture "of something that will be here in 6 months". Idiot, I'll be getting 4!

MonaTheMoaner · 24/02/2018 11:57

@CuppaSarah Dizziness has eased but has been replaced by lower back pain and slight heavy feeling cramps. Wondering if it is a UTI but will find out Monday when the lab results come back!

Anyone have any cravings? I'm craving orange anything. Orange Tango, actual oranges, orange juice, chocolate orange etc. I also love citrus scents so currently dousing my whole house in Lemon Zing Zoflora. Strange as I've never been an overly citrus fan but I can't get enough right now.

LostMyBaubles · 24/02/2018 12:02

Mona ah after your last update (thought id replied obv forgot sorry) i was thinking uti too. Cefalexin is safe during early pregnancy to treat utis

Ive just discovered oranges again. Kept off them as when ever I did eat them I got a uti. Love the smell 😍

MonaTheMoaner · 24/02/2018 12:07

@LostMyBaubles Doctor said it was probably a UTI but there's no burning, stinging or fever so he didn't want to put me straight on antibiotics without checking a culture first. Is a heavy almost crampy feeling a sign of a UTI?

I wonder if it's all the oranges that caused this ConfusedGrin

LostMyBaubles · 24/02/2018 12:19

Yup does sound like it.
I was going to send a sample off last week but didnt have time.

1 dr said it might the acid in the oranges that cause my utis as ive got probelms and kidneys are sensitive.

TheBlindspot · 24/02/2018 12:54

I had a completely symptomless UTI in my last pregnancy picked up at booking in and it didn't shift until I was about 25 weeks! I was on antibiotics from 8 weeks and took samples in every week.

Didn't cause any issues but it can happen with zero symptoms.

TheBlindspot · 24/02/2018 12:55

Oh - and when I had it my GP told me to completely avoid all citrus and drink no sugar cranberry juice daily. I did but not sure if it helped or not.

MonaTheMoaner · 24/02/2018 14:23

Tango will be fine right? Grin I hate cranberry juice so it'll just be water for me for the next few days. Hope to god it goes fast and doesn't hang around!

LostMyBaubles · 24/02/2018 14:37

With my last pregnancy uti caused me to go into labour early as it was left (i had given samples to the hosp but no1 was checkimg them) so i was kept in around a week while they tried to stop the contractions and was in a delivery room twice!
Then they found out it was infection starting it off.

Im always sufferimg with them as I have kidney problems.
Drink lots of water to keep your kidneys flushed.

MonaTheMoaner · 24/02/2018 15:17

@LostMyBaubles oh no! How many weeks were you and were they successfully stopped?

ShutTheFridgeUp · 24/02/2018 15:20

Anyone else starting to nest already? I didn't at all with my first, but I'm currently desperate to get the house sorted! We have been here over a year and all of a sudden I need to get things in order. I can not stay off of eBay and I think DH is getting a bit annoyed now as I keep making him do stuff 😂

Nixen · 24/02/2018 15:21

Lost I had the harmony test at the FMC and they ask you if you’d like to find out!

Scan pics are my hospital were 4 for £10 but the sonographer gave us 5, bonus

Nixen · 24/02/2018 15:21

Should add that’s at the NHS hospital, they give you them free of charge at the FMC
