PS I also need to join the FB group - I will message @TheBlindSpot :)

Sorry for everyone who is ill. It is SO hard to shake illnesses when you are pregnant. It has taken me weeks to get over a cold. Then again, it seems like everyone is ill and has lingering colds at the moment. So maybe it’s a national epidemic!

As for maternity tights, anyone tried George? £3 a pair and they have good reviews so I might stock up. Their maternity range in general seems quite cheap.

Sals27 · 12/03/2018 20:31

I told my dad I was pregnant last night. Hes a tricky person to comminicate with so I text him a scan photo. He's completely blanked it. I know he got the message and knows as my younger sister has spoken to him. I mean how hard is a congratulations text? Or even an acknowledgement. It's not surprising but I'd really hoped I'd be wrong so its disappointing. I hoped he'd take more interest. Ah well, his loss I guess.

Moving on from my whinge fest, has anyone got this elusive pregnancy glow yet?

CuppaSarah · 12/03/2018 21:13

Salz That's crap, he could at least make the effort. But to be honest, false interest is just if not more hurtful. You're right it's definetly his loss and it's your gain. You know not to share anymore of your joy with him.

I have a bit of glow! My hair went super curly and puffy when I fell and it's finally relaxed into lovely waves. Plus I started a new skin routine and my skin is clear and lovely! My nails are growing super long and thick. Sadly so are my leg hairs. Just need to shift the pale skin and dark bags and I'll have a proper glow.

mumallgirls · 12/03/2018 23:40

Thank you for the welcome LostMyBaubles.

My 20 week scan is on 23.04, but I am planning to get a private one around 17 weeks.

Rockerfeller · 13/03/2018 01:57

Scan went well on Monday :) . All measurements were fine and the worry about spina bifida was unfounded so that's a relief! They took some bloods and then we asked for a picture and they said the printer wasn't working gutted!

Other appointments went as expected, in the end we saw both oncology and obstetrics and had 2 scans, so had my cervix measured by both and it's currently at 1.5 cm so I'm to start progesterone injections now to help it grow or stay stable. Bloody cervical cancer! Such a mess!

The obs consultant said that as I don't have a plug (?) I'm to start antibiotics from 16 weeks and I'm to have 2 weekly scans to check cervix length, plus I'm to stop work as basically stay on bed rest from
Now essentially which was kind of expected but still hard to hear.

It's been a week since I started bed rest and I'm losing my mind.

We were going to book a private scan to get a photo but was advised not to as I had a fairly big bleed on Tuesday, which was just scar tissue being unsettled but it now means I have to stay in hospital for a few hours after my scans to be monitored.

kirinm · 13/03/2018 09:11

I don't know everyone's real names yet so not sure who everyone is one the Facebook page. I feel like I've not heard or seen from people on this thread for a while. Is everyone doing okay?

LostMyBaubles · 13/03/2018 09:46

Rocker glad they are doing things to keep everything safe and healthy. I know its a pain to stay on bed rest but its for the best.

I dont have a glow as ive gone all pale due to being sick lol

My next planned scan is 19th of next month

As kirin said hope everyone is ok as theres defo less of us now fx its just everyone is busy

MrsCaecilius · 13/03/2018 10:04

Still here! Had 12 week scam on Friday and it looked fine. Nuchal measurement if 1.5. Just waiting for bloods to come back now. 20 week scan booked for early May.

Definitely not blooming yet! Feeling knackered and sick every evening. Really hope that's going to pass soon!

blondie1001 · 13/03/2018 10:23

I've got my 16 week midwife appointment today - I don't remember anything particularly exciting happening during that appointment last time! Still feeling really sick in the afternoon/evening and now I've suddenly become really spotty.

I'm feeling quite a lot of movement now which is really nice. I sneezed in bed this morning when I was lying on my front and it went crazy!

LostMyBaubles · 13/03/2018 14:58

Blondie how did the appt go? Mine is next week

Mrs glad the scsn went well

Nixen · 13/03/2018 18:53

I’ve got my 16 wk midwife appt on Friday, hoping she lets me listen to the wee ones heartbeat but I’ve read they don’t do that everywhere :(

Mrsw200 · 13/03/2018 19:27

Hi everyone been lurking a longggg time wanted to wait until my scan which I finally had yesterday - due 19th Sept. Very surreal experience especially seeing it wriggling around. Good luck to everyone else due to have their scans soon xxx

Fia256 · 13/03/2018 19:27

I'm still here too! I've just not been on my phone in general much the last week or so!

I've got my 16 week appt next week, and also my gender scan! Which is exciting!

Is anyone suffering badly with their back already? I literally feel as though I'm a heavily pregnant 90 year old! Anytime I spend on my feet more than usual, or do too much (which really isn't anything at all) my back/hips/bum/leg area starts to cease up and I struggle to walk! Then if my body really feels like hating me I'll get a stab of sciatica shoot me down the leg! I've suffered with this with each pregnancy, but it gets worse with each one and I'm bloody miserable!!!

blondie1001 · 13/03/2018 19:34

Appointment went well thanks, Lost. She listened to the heartbeat (sounded happy apparently), took blood to find out the baby’s blood group as I am rhesus negative, tested my urine and told me about preeclampsia. I don’t see her again until 28 weeks now!

Also has anyone else got troublesome veins? I have to go back next week as unfortunately after trying in both arms and hands could not get any blood. The nurse joked next place they'd try would be the neck...🤛

SC126 · 13/03/2018 20:35

@mrsw200 I'm terrified of needles so hoping they can get blood easily. I knew someone who was like you and the hospital used to make extra long appointments for her as it took so long to find a viable vein. They had to get it from her feet.

Mrsw200 · 13/03/2018 20:51

@SC126 I couldn't watch but luckily the nurses were very nice and put a fan on for me. Only ever had bloods taken once before, around 15yrs ago and couldn't remember there being issues then. Apparently the anaesthetist is in for my next appointment, who is an expert at needles 🤢🤢 god it makes me feel funny thinking about it. I think the best advice is to not look and take your mind somewhere else! Easily said than done I know xxx

Shook2018 · 13/03/2018 21:00

Still here 😊 Checking in everynow and then! Finally, at 15 weeks the nausea and sickness seems to be easing fingers crossed! This last week has been much easier!

Swapping symptoms though for a lot of dizzy spells and the butt/leg sciatica too! I'm still insanely tired :/

dingdongdigeridoo · 13/03/2018 21:09

My back is killing me too Fia. I think it’s because I’m getting big around the middle so my posture is terrible. Plus I work on a laptop all day. Combined with my bad hip I feel like a doddering old lady.

Katjolo · 13/03/2018 21:27

@Mrsw200- try drinking a huge amount of water before the blood test. Since finding this out, it has helped tremendously (previously my veins seemed to be non existent).

Mrsw200 · 13/03/2018 21:30

Thanks so much @Katjolo I'll definitely do this! ☺️☺️

RedRobin7 · 13/03/2018 22:21

@Mrsw200 I posted a similar thing on fb today. I've always had trouble giving blood but never as bad as today. They tried both arms and both hands and thankfully the last hand was successful but now I feel quite bruised. I always drink lots and today I'd had 4 pints of water and two decaf teas before I went so it wasn't dehydration for me. I'm already nervous about the bloods I have to do at my 12 week scan next week! Hope they manage to get some blood from you.

Poppins2016 · 14/03/2018 01:49

Just woke up desperately needing the loo and felt some odd pain on my left hand side. I haven't really felt what I would describe as 'early pregnancy period pains' for a few weeks now and this was a fairly intense 'period pain' - though not the absolute worst ever - I did end up trying to sit still so as not to make it worse.

I know my pregnancy is definitely not ectopic (early scan) and that I have a cyst there... The pain is subsiding and there's no bleeding/weird discharge, so hopefully it was just my 'larger bladder than usual' putting pressure on everything... Not sure I can cope with that every time I'm desperate for the loo! I feel oddly emotional and slightly worried... But I'm tired and should be asleep! Should probably remember not to drink too much before bedtime in future...

I guess my 12 week scan (next Tuesday) will show if the cyst has changed... Hmm.
