I have itchy legs this evening, is this normal? I know itchy hands and feet is a cause for concern...

kirinm · 27/02/2018 19:23

@jellytots I've had brown and red spotting and bleeding and whilst it's never normal (told by the EPU) it isn't unusual. Brown blood is old blood so try and take some comfort in that - I had so much red blood I started to find brown blood reassuring. You could go to the EPU to check though.

TheBlindspot · 27/02/2018 19:50

@littleostrich I rang my GP about itching on my feet and legs last week. You shouldn't ignore itching in pregnancy in case you have obstetric choleostatis (I think I've spelled that wrong!) which is dangerous for baby.

However my GP said it's really rare, and it's even rarer in the early stages. Apparently it's something to look out for after 28 weeks, and that that point if you're itchy they'll take blood and check your bile levels (it's something to do with your liver). She did say though that if you have that, you'll likely be unbearably itchy, like making yourself bleed when you scratch itchy.

She also told me that the likelihood is that 'just annoying' itchiness is due to hormone changes and a bit of extra fluid under the skin but if it continued or got much worse then I should go down for a test just in case. She wasn't concerned at all though and to be fair mines really calmed down this week.

Lovely photo @coastalchick

coastalchick · 27/02/2018 21:02

Thank you Mona!

littleostrich · 27/02/2018 21:16

Thank you @TheBlindspot, that's reassuring! It's stopped now. I'll mention it if it happens again.

kirinm · 27/02/2018 21:32

I'm still struggling a bit with nausea and being knackered. Evenings are participating bad for nausea and for some reason, sleeping on my left hand side intensifies the nausea. It is SO much better than it was but when the nausea hits it still floors me. Anyone else?

kirinm · 27/02/2018 21:34

*particularly bad (sorry, my iPhone is on its last legs and autocorrect comes up with multiple typos).

CuppaSarah · 27/02/2018 21:40

Congratulations coastal beautiful picture!

Just looking at my notes and can't stop looking at the words 'normal intrauterine pregnancy' they're the most reassuring words ever.

The scan was an emotional blur, apparently they were wriggling loads, but I was so emotional I didn't see any detail. Then she tilted me backwards to convince baby to move and I couldn't see. The sonographer was lovely, so chatty and sweet. She made me feel so at ease. The phlebotomist was lovely too, she has three children and was telling how it was adjusting to three. Roll on the 20th of april for my 20 week scan.

kirinm · 27/02/2018 21:48

Glad it went well @CuppaSarah I felt a bit of adoration for the doctors I saw yesterday. I think our scan lasted the best part of an hour in the end. Baby wouldn't get into the right position and so I was sent off to get a drink and then went back and this time baby was breakdancing - must've been the caffeine. I love seeing the baby. It's really the best feeling.

MonaTheMoaner · 27/02/2018 22:20

@CuppaSarah did you receive your 20 week scan date through the post or on the day of your dating scan?

dingdongdigeridoo · 27/02/2018 22:36

@CuppaSarah ooh we are scan date buddies at 20 weeks.

They booked mine as I was leaving after 12 week scan.

Fia256 · 28/02/2018 06:09

I need to join the fb group! Is it one of those where you get an email through though?! As I've just checked and my email for fb is one I made years and years ago and I wouldn't have the slightest clue what my password is or even what my security answers are!

CuppaSarah · 28/02/2018 06:51

Mona yes, the sonographer booked me right in at the end, then wrote it in my notes. I was very impressed!

Fia you need to pm Blindside and she'll tell you how to add her on facebook, then she can add you onto it.

dingdong yay, will you be finding out the sex?

muffyduffster · 28/02/2018 07:25

Baby brain strikes... idiot me got on the wrong train to London and watched mine leave from the opposite platform! Bit of a tearful wobble at the lovely train manager and she told ticket inspector that I'm ok to travel, which made me more tearful! She saved me £169 so she's my hero today Smile

kirinm · 28/02/2018 07:45

More red blood this morning.

TheBlindspot · 28/02/2018 07:47

@Fia256 Send me a PM and I'll sort the group out for you.

Oh no @kirinm. Are you going to go and get checked out?

kirinm · 28/02/2018 07:50

I'm going to wait and see how it feels I think. I cannot take all this time off work as I'm going to get into serious shit so I'll have to make a judgment call.

Fia256 · 28/02/2018 08:07

I've attempted to PM @TheBlindspot hopefully that's gone through!

Fia256 · 28/02/2018 08:14

Oh no @kirinm you just don't seem to get a break do you!

@Namechangedtoscream good luck for your scan today! And anyone else who has them!

muffyduffster · 28/02/2018 08:43

Oh @kirinm it's such a worry, you poor thing. Hopefully all ok and not long until we get reassuring kicks from the babies to let us know it's all ok in there. Not sure we ever stop worrying though, even when they're here x

kirinm · 28/02/2018 08:56

I luckily have another scan at 16 weeks but would love it if the baby could start to make its presence known by movement rather than bleeding.

CuppaSarah · 28/02/2018 09:49

Kirin your body really is being unkind to you. I hope they find a cause so you can have some peace of mine. Just a few weeks till you might start feeling flutters. You've had such a difficult pregnancy, it really is beyond unfair. I think we all wish we could take away the fear for you.

Who is being scanned today? I'm sure some people are.

dingdongdigeridoo · 28/02/2018 10:44

Yes CuppaSarah I’ll be finding out the gender. It’ll be interesting once those scans start!

I’m so sorry Kirin. It sounds like a nightmare. But if you need to take time off work you should. They have no right to bollock you and have to give you time off for appointments.

Fia256 · 28/02/2018 10:51

Is anyone else having an early gender scan? I've just booked mine for 24th March so just over 3 weeks to go! So excited Grin
