Grumph......
Another day attempting to work but instead wandering around with a face like a slapped arse!
Meant to be seeing people like My2cents dishing out sticky pads and pens etc and banging on about drugs - but instead have been driving around trying to not to crash my car!
PS - My2cents - I have been having chest pain all day (doesn't sound as bad as yours tho) I'm thinking it's just due to my extra weighty norks!

Missed it again! I'm never around for the change over .

Right - second and more timers needed here - cribs gliding or not? Appreciate all comments on this as had a moses baskets for DD and I wouldn't bother again. But the cotbed just seems way too big for a newborn.

Hope haven't missed anything since this morning! Am going to catch up later on (if I can! its almost as bigger task as the housework!)

SG - I was thinking about getting one of those boards that blocks off the cob bed to make it smaller.
I'll try and find one and show you on a link.
But as I am a first timer I'm not sure if it's a crap idea - so 2nd+ timers let me know what you think.

Thanks DKMA Sounds a good idea, would also interested if anyone has any experience to share with us?

Arrrgghhhh!! Stop talking !!

I have a crib sg, but it is just a stationary one, a bit like this . I bought it second hand to resell, but then I got pg and decided to keep it! It needs repainting and tightening, so that's another project I have to do! I also have a moses basket for downstairs. I wouldn't buy one again, but I already have it, so may as well use it.

Report
Seansgirl · 30/04/2007 16:41

Any particular reason why you wouldn't buy one again Holly?

Coz my dd was a big lump and didn't fit in it for long! Also at a few weeks she decided she would only sleep on me, a phase that lasted for 18 months!

I've got a crib (borrowed from my sis....now on child No. 5) which will go in our bedroom for the first few months before moving into the cot in the nursery (yes, yes, why am I in a rush to get it decorated??)....and my pram has a carrycot so bub will sleep in that downstairs.....I think newborns look really swamped in big cots/cotbeds.

Don't know about the board thing DKMA...think maybe it's a bit of a gimmick....if you tuck the covers in around the bottom and put bub in feet to foot position at the bottom with covers no higher than their armpits, then it's exactly the same....I wouldn't waste my money personally...I'd rather put it to much better use...like towards a pair of new shoes or a handbag

Oh, my crib can swing from side to side, but it always seemed a bit precarious so I kept it in the locked position. DS was in it for about 4 months I think

LOL Holly - yes DD had the phase of sleeping on me or DH, have vivid memories of sleeping bolt up right in bed with DD cradled on my breastfeeding pillow. Probably not the safest thing in the world but she JUST WOULDN'T SLEEP!! Until she went in the cotbed with a grobag at 10 weeks Hooray! Sleep!

Think I will go for a static one, was wondering if the glider thing was necessary, but probably not

Finally got DS's room sorted and all his toys in the cupboard....I can hear him crashing around up there, and just know that he is pulling everything out...aaargh....I'll kill him

Hello everyone, haven't caught up properly as there are just too many messages atm. I had a lovely Secret Baby Shower present this week from a super Junie - a Sanctuary gift pack just for ME, Mumtobe, now that's what I call a baby shower.

I've been away up north, come back today with a disturbing symptom, a fast pulse (120 per minute) and worse breathlessness. I looked it up on the Net and got all the horror show of pre-eclampsia - luckily I am going to the midwife tomorrow armed with my pee. Anyone else got a racing pulse - i am thinking it could be the weather, it's hot again here today.....

Hope you're ok doggus! Fingers crossed for your mw appt tomorrow. I think as long as your bp is ok they will just keep an eye on you. The heat does have an effect on you, I've been feeling funny today, weak and a bit run down. Hope your little break was good too.

The cardboard crib !!! I saw that in the shop and it looks pretty cool! Like a hippy would use!

I've got one of those cardboard crib thinggies!
I thought there was no point spending loads of money on a crib if he'll only be in it for a few months - my mum said both me and my brother out grew our cribs within weeks!
(then she did feed me on evapourated milk for 6 months!!! FFS!!)

Lol dkma! My mw was telling me they used to feed the babies on the unit in hospital on Carnation milk! I think it was the done thing then. Really odd though!

I saw those cribs too - I think they look pretty funky. The only thing that put me off was that I plan to sell the crib and I'm not sure it would re-sell as well as a wooden one IYSWIM.
As yet I have not ordered one as could not work out the fucking mattress sizes am going to study it a bit more when DD is in bed.

Hi Doggus (waves) hope you're ok - good luck with MW!

Foxy...after you've [asted in the URL, you need to do \description}...then it should work. Come back, don't sulk....

We saw those cardboard cribs and thoought they looked fab...but already got a loan of one, so no point really.

Blardy internet has been off again. now on hold to virgin fault reporting, having already had £25 credit to the account from customer services. Been on the phone for nearly an hour and am slowly losing the plot.......
