I'm laughing at all these food aversions 😂 I have no fancy for anything at all just having toast really. Currently in hospital on a drip for fluids going to be here until at least midnight! Had my booking appointment today and my urine was full of ketones so I was sent straight in. Hoping this helps as I've felt so dreadful, they've also given me an anti sickness injection which made me feel like I'd taken drugs or something but is supposed to be good so fingers crossed.

YouCantBeSirius · 17/01/2018 18:46

@E2017 I've had a full large honeydew melon today. Lovely so it was.

Hortonlovesahoo · 17/01/2018 19:01

@Butterfly86: ((Hugs)). I hope that you can rest with the drip in your arm. Do you feel bad? or was it just the ketones that was giving it away?

@Youcantbesirius: That sounds like heaven!

butterfly86 · 17/01/2018 19:52

@hortonlovesahoo it's not too bad I'm dozing in the chair last bag has gone up but this one takes 4 hours I'm so bored! Yes I felt poorly very tired and lightheaded and a headache, on top of the constant nausea and vomiting. I had very little urine output either but I've had 2 huge ones since having the fluids so that must be a good sign!

amzq87 · 17/01/2018 19:52

Thanks @gkeen369 but I did have it to lose - everything is relative eh? Feel soooo much better for it though and think it's the reason we managed to get pregnant when I'd been told I'd struggle.

@butterfly86 hope you're OK and manage to get some rest! X

amzq87 · 17/01/2018 19:53

@YouCantBeSirius - guess what I want now!! That melon sounds lovely! X

StrawberryLemonade · 17/01/2018 20:02

Butterfly I hope you’re feeling better soon!

Hortonlovesahoo I’ve never heard of emesafene - a quick google suggests it might be Dutch. Is that where you are? Never seen it prescribed in the uk so wouldn’t know about driving. I was given cyclizine and it just says don’t drive if it makes you drowsy.

Hortonlovesahoo · 17/01/2018 20:22

@Butterfly86: Definitely sounds like its doing you some good!

@StrawberryLemonade - Yep. I'm in Holland. They were really reluctant to prescribe it to me because it's so strong. I know that other antihistamines make me drowsy so I'd expect the same for this one.

E2017 · 17/01/2018 21:14

@butterfly86 hope you're ok and start feeling better soon. X

peterpanwendy · 17/01/2018 22:29

Loving all the chat about food, I've gone off tea and coffee when I used to drink loads! (Decaf) I haven't had any all year. No one has mentioned it at work yet surprisingly but I normally have a big flask of coffee to see me through the morning and I haven't had it in weeks :S

I don't want hardly anything at the mo just beige and unhealthy things! I had pie and chips from the chippy last night which was amazing!

Cravings I have had are Jelly and custard (not together!) so bought the little pots to pop in my lunch. So yummy!

BertieBotts · 17/01/2018 22:32

Yeah I'm not into tea or coffee, so weird, I never went off them in any other pregnancy.

I can't even really think about food most of the time. Chicken seems to be fine as are most vegetables and fruit but then the sprouts from Christmas are making me feel horrible to think about.

Pasta is yuck. I've never been a big pasta fan though anyway.

Hana327 · 17/01/2018 22:36

@butterfly86 hope you're feeling better soon.

I love reading the food aversions as well. Makes me feel normal!
I've gone right off drinking tea and eating chocolate. Can't stand the taste of either.
I also can't drink...I'm thirsty but the thought of drinking makes me want to be sick. Any cooked smells and perfume sends me funny too.
I'm pretty much eating beige food!

ehealy · 18/01/2018 00:01

I've seen a few of you are concerned you haven't had a scan appointment yet. I remember with DD I had to call the midwife phone number and they were super helpful. They were able to sort it out for me directly with scan dept. So don't bother waiting chase it up. No aversions just eating because I'm hungry but mainly in the morning and lunch after 5 food nauseates me. My record was 3 slices of toast porridge and 2 BLT sandwiches homemade so fully loaded. Today in an effort to be healthy I made a big pot of carrot soup and a huge bowl of salad otherwise I'd just fill up on cake which normally I hate except when pregnant. Scones with cream were a daily occurrence last time around 7 months!

Gem173 · 18/01/2018 06:29

Hey ladies, so trying to convince oh to go half’s with me on an early scan. If it’s works which scan do I go for, viability (from 6 weeks) or dating (from 8 weeks). By LMP I’m 8 weeks 2 days, so not sure which would be best :/

Sparkesdontshine · 18/01/2018 06:51

I would go for a dating one

Gem173 · 18/01/2018 07:00

I thought that but what if my baby measured smaller than 8 weeks ? Which I’m sure it probably does

TheMildManneredMilitant · 18/01/2018 07:10

I think the only difference would be whether its internal or transabdominal - at the place i had mine it was external/transabdominal but there was a disclaimer that if they couldn't get a good picture then you'd be offered the internal one at extra cost. Maybe its the same at your scan place?

Gem173 · 18/01/2018 07:23

It just sAys interuterine pregnancy on both

Gem173 · 18/01/2018 07:45

After thinking long and hard I’ve decided not too, don’t want to subject the baby to multiple ultrasounds in these early stages. Also I can use the money to buy a heartbeat teddy at my 12 week scan :) also I’ve waiting 2 months so I’m sure I can hold on for one more month!

SpriteGirl · 18/01/2018 08:34

Morning ladies. Love reading all about food issues.

Am definitely off tea and it seems to give me a headache. What I do and don't feel like eating seems to change day to day. Was really off chicken, cannot stand the smell of it while it's cooking but if I make it with a sauce that masks the smell I can cope. For today's lunch I have made myself a wrap with humous, falafel, shredded lettuce (had to be shredded), tomatoes and gherkins. Wanted pickled red cabbage too but couldn't find any. Am so looking forward to it!

Have also had raspberries and cherries and I would never normally buy these fruit out of season. There's also a lovely big pineapple sitting in my fruit bowl Smile.

11 weeks tomorrow. Two weeks today until my scan. January feels exceptionally long this year....

Babydreaming · 18/01/2018 08:37

My cravings are ice lollies, salt and vinegar crisps, fruit and fruit juice. My aversions are chocolate ice cream and tea/coffee and porridge :( - this was my fav breakfast before now can’t stomach it!

It’s weird that lots of us are averse to caffeine containing substances, maybe it’s our bodies trying to avoid too much caffeine?

Got a call from the midwife yesterday and my booking appointment is tomorrow lunchtime at my house which is great!!

I'm having lots of niggling pains in my left ovary.. I have a cyst on my right but it's the left one causing me worry. Am I being silly? These pains are normal I know but can't help getting worked up over it. They're very mild and not constant just when I'm busy or moving about lots. I haven't had a letter about my scan either :(

Babydreaming · 18/01/2018 09:19

@peterpanwendy it sounds like it could be round ligament pain as a result of stretching?

Hi everyone, I have been following the threads and thought it was about time I said hello!

Currently 7 wks 6 days with my first, due date 31 August :) I had a private early scan last weekend which was great! Really put my mind at ease and we could see the heart beat. My booking in appointment is tomorrow morning, not quite sure what to expect! Is it normal to bring my partner or do most people go alone?

I felt shocking last week, really nauseous but I also had a stinking cold which probably made it worse. This week no sickness which I find slightly disconcerting.. But lots of stretching pains in my stomach especially in the evening, boobs are less sore, still quite constipated (lovely).

Eating like an absolute horse as always hungry, I’m normally 11 stone at 5 ft 6 and have put on a couple of pounds this week. Hating the smell of coffee, so interesting that some of you have that too! And loving mango and oranges.. and carbs.

Great to see so many others due in August, I hope everyone that has appointments today/ tomorrow gets good news and everything goes smoothly Flowers

Gem173 · 18/01/2018 09:30

Funnily enough I don’t have any food aversions, il eat anything. Except hoummous which I loved at the beginning.
Can still drink coffee etc.
