@BunBunMum that’s great! What times are the scans usually, my oh is hoping we get an afternoon one because his work aren’t letting him have time off. Albeit he hasn’t told them yet and wanted to wait until after the scan.

CaffeineDragon · 20/01/2018 10:14

Hi all - and welcome to all the new joiners! I'm just catching up after a few days. Congrats @birdy1978 - I was quite nervous about that happening this time - I can imagine the shock will last some time.

All those worrying about telling work/negotiating coming back etc - I strongly recommend you check our Mother Pukka and specifically the FlexAppeal. She has so much data and is working with big organisations on facts about Felipe working. Her book helps loads according to the posts people share. There is a lot that is within your rights and also some element of don't ask/don't get. Most reports show that part time mothers are more efficient and do more work than many ft employees** paraphrasing!

Check it out!

12 week scan this Fri, then need to decide when/how I tell my work. Mainly implications of other pregnant staff members, though I'm sure they're expecting it.

E2017 · 20/01/2018 10:35

Urrgghhh 12h Shift today is about killing me... can I have a nap already. 😳🙁

StrawberryLemonade · 20/01/2018 10:49

I got my scan letter in the post this morning but it’s on a busy day at work and work don’t know. So I either need to try and change it or tell them before the scan... which feels wrong!

I might sound totally crazy here but does anyone else think they can feel movement yet? This morning I feel like something is butterflying around in my pelvis. Like a jelly baby doing backflips or something. Doesn’t feel like wind! I’m only 11+3 though. Did feel movement at 16w last time but 11w still seems a bit early!

Kiki275 · 20/01/2018 11:20

Birdy Congratulations, my DH is a twin and really close to his sister... I think he secretly hopes we're having them too. I'd be in the not-so-mild terror category then :)

Gem173 my scan is on the 7th at 8.30am.
Whilst a really good time, all I can think of is the practicalities of having a full bladder and providing a fresh pee sample. Does anyone know whether providing one from the night before will be acceptable?

StephieWoo why does cake have to taste so good? I have put on since BFP, about half a stone probably, but that's a combo of xmas and fat club kicking me out :( I'm just eating silly now and need to reign it in.

On that note, we were going to have a takeaway last night, which is rare as I prefer to eat out (less washing up) and ended up going to the local greek taverna for Mezze. Was just what baby nit needed x

amzq87 · 20/01/2018 11:31

@Gem173 - as an old lab worked, early morning urine is best I'm afraid x

Emmasmum2013 · 20/01/2018 11:33

Congrats to all those who’ve had scans! And birdy wth twins!! I’d be terrified too if I’m honest! I’m really scared it’ll be twins this time for me. All my pregnancy symptoms are so much worse than last time and I feel like I’ve got a bump already.

Was it like that for you birdy or did you have no idea at all?

peterpanwendy · 20/01/2018 11:42

I got my scan date through.. tues 30th. I will be at work. What do I tell them?! I'm so scared :(

Babydreaming · 20/01/2018 11:46

@strawberrylemonade YES! I was going to post about this the other day but thought I was being ridiculous. I am definitely starting to feel the beginning of movements. Last time I started around 16weeks with similar sensations. I’m very slim so sometimes you can feel them earlier in that case apparently. It feels like popping sensations but I can only feel them when I’m lying down at bed calm and quiet. Very exciting!

milney25 · 20/01/2018 12:00

Hi @Kiki275 I didn't have to do a urine sample, maybe you won't have to.

@peterpanwendy can you tell them you have the dentist of doctors?

CaffeineDragon · 20/01/2018 12:07

@StrawberryLemonade I'm also 11+4 and I swear I've felt something a couple of times and keep thinking: "it can't be!" Thinking it's maybe just the placenta/fluids shifting from the baby's movements? Like waves?!

JaneDoe7 · 20/01/2018 13:46

@Kiki275 - I didn't have to give a urine sample at my scan and they said I didn't need a full bladder either - maybe different places have different requirements, but just FYI!

I had a brilliant swim this morning - it is the only time when I don't feel nausea or other twinges, so I hope I can keep swimming as late as possible.

Hope you are all having lovely weekends!

Babydreaming · 20/01/2018 14:20

By the way if you’re a first timer and not feeling anything then don’t panic!! I remember getting paranoid last time as all the 2nd timers felt movements really early and I didn’t! It’s normal not to feel any movements until 20 weeks!

Gem173 · 20/01/2018 14:49

@Babydreaming
Thankyou for the reassurance! Definitely me, I only have gas :( and actually constipation or what I think is constipation, I have never had it because I have been told I could have ibs so my usual is to go regularly.

Gizzymum · 20/01/2018 14:53

For the 12wk scan the full bladder is to help lift the uterus to a scannable position. If you have an internal early scan this doesn't matter.

I remember I was about 25wks last time when I first felt movements but I had an anterior placenta which dampens down feeling movements.

somersetsinger · 20/01/2018 15:14

Had my 12 week scan this morning and it all looks good. The baby refused to assume the position they needed for one measurement so we were in for quite a while. I had to wriggle around to try and get it to move. Feel very reassured and my due date has been moved forward to 2nd August. Have started to tell my friends, which is the fun bit!

milney25 · 20/01/2018 15:43

Lovely news @somersetsinger !!

Emmasmum2013 · 20/01/2018 17:39

Great news Somersetsinger!
With my first I was about 14 weeks before I felt movement. I wasn’t sure what it was at first but as I progressed and the movement got stronger there was no mistaking it. At first it just felt a bit like if you tap your finger tips lightly and fast in your arm, but inside your womb? It’s really hard to describe!

I can’t wait to feel that again. A remember even when I could feel it on the outside it took ages for my husband to get a chance to. Every time she moved she’d stop as soon as he touched the bump!

Gem173 · 20/01/2018 18:43

Ugh, forgot to take my pregnancy vitamin tablet this morning. I keep forgetting! Took it throughout the whole week, only today I forgot it, I seem to miss them every now and then.

Angharad07 · 20/01/2018 19:10

Can I join? I’m 9 weeks on Monday and I’m due August 27. I’m 20 and it’s my first :)

Stephiewoo · 20/01/2018 19:14

Hey @Angharad07 congrats lovely 😊

Gem173 · 20/01/2018 19:15

Welcome @Angharad07, we are the same age! Hope your pregnancy is going smoothly!

BunBunMum · 20/01/2018 19:15

Hi All - I’ve started bleeding a bit this afternoon, which is scary. A mix of old and new but not masses. Phoned 111 and out of hours phoned me back. I had a choice of going for urine infection testing and just waiting at home. Apparently only my Gp can arrange scans etc so that’ll need to wait until Monday. I chose to stay at home as no other infection symptoms and the Dr said it can’t hurt the pregnancy if I do have an infection and leave it another day or two. Guess I just have to wait and see.

Stephiewoo · 20/01/2018 19:17

That's worrying for you @BunBunMum rest up i would say but if anything else happens head to a&e big hugs x

milney25 · 20/01/2018 19:33

Hope you are managing to get some rest @BunBunMum. You didn't mention any pain, so hopefully that's reassuring.
