Congratulations and welcome @Minabean1984 and @Lucylou86.

Love the story about your sister Lucylou86 would be amazing if we made long standing friendships through this group.

Congratulations on your scan @Buk88

Buk88 · 19/01/2018 14:38

@amzq87 little lamb! That’s so beautiful! Love it! So your scan is next Friday?! That’s really soon!

Thank you @SpriteGirl 😊 totally agree, @Lucylou86 it would be amazing if we could take real friends from the bus! 😊

StrawberryLemonade · 19/01/2018 14:44

It’s true about real friendships forming - next month I’m on a weekend away with a group from my last antenatal bus Smile

amzq87 · 19/01/2018 14:52

@Buk88 hehe - thanks. I have sheep everything at home after working on a sheep farm for a few years so that was the inspiration lol!

One week today but feels like this time next year at the mo haha! It will be here before I know it though I bet :-)

Buk88 · 19/01/2018 15:00

@amzq87 oh how great! Definite source of inspiration! 😊

It’ll fly by! We were in for 20 minutes and it felt like 20 seconds! The sonographer did the tests right at the beginning so we were reassured from the start and then just got to watch peanut have a wee party in my tummy 😊 totally magical! I’m excited for you!!

amzq87 · 19/01/2018 15:48

@Buk88 sounds amazing - can't wait!

Babydreaming · 19/01/2018 15:51

YAY! For 12w scan photos, love seeing them! I just had my booking in appointment and I swear my midwife just wanted to chat! She was at my house for almost 2 hours! I’m being classed as high risk again and referred to consultant this time round due to low BMI and previous baby with serious medical condition :(

Welcome to all the newcomers!
I can’t believe some are having 12 week scans already. This is just going too fast!

So lovely to see the pictures. It feels like forever until the 15th feb for mine. I just can’t wait!!

I definitely need to get some maternity jeans soon. Even my elasticated waist leggings are getting uncomfortable now!

JaneDoe7 · 19/01/2018 16:09

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone is taking Metformin? I was on it for TTC and was told by ACU to keep taking it, but I have no idea how long to keep taking it - and midwife doesn't know.

I went for the Harmony test on Saturday, going back in 2 weeks for the 12 week scan and results. The time is really dragging!

Eloisa123 · 19/01/2018 16:42

help....really severe nausea has kicked in for me quite late at 9 weeks. got cyclizine but its not working,. anyone have any luck with that? anyone have severe nausea for a short time? i cant get out of bed...

Hettyturnip · 19/01/2018 17:04

@janedoe7 I was on metformin for previous pregnancies. 1st on til 12 weeks, second stopped straight away, 3rd on til 12 weeks. I was on for pcos and the consultant seemed to change her mind all the time. I think it’s not been approved safe in pregnancy, hence stop straight away, but it’s not known to cause any problems... if I were on it this time i’d take it til 12 weeks.

Hettyturnip · 19/01/2018 17:05

I had some spotting today so i’ve got another scan on Monday. Don’t feel very hopeful though... just got to wait and see.

birdy1978 · 19/01/2018 17:15

Had my 12 week scan today, was amazed to get the down’s screening result there and then as I had to wait for a letter in the post last time. Was even more amazed (shocked) to discover there’s two in there... two heart beats, two sacks, two babies! Fun times ahead.

JaneDoe7 · 19/01/2018 17:15

Thanks @Hettyturnip. Good luck with your scan on Monday x

Hettyturnip · 19/01/2018 17:16

Wow! Twins! Amazing!!! Congratulations

Expecto · 19/01/2018 17:18

@Buk88 I know what you mean about pineapples...seems to be the only thing I want but I have tried avoiding it as there’s controversy around eating it whilst pregnant (softens cervix or something along those lines). I read conflicting info but then decided to avoid it to be on the safe side. Then again I’m a firm believer that sometimes our cravings and aversions are a sign of what our bodies need and don’t need. Can’t flipping win!

@JaneDoe I had two friends that developed gestational diabetes. One was consuming 4 metformin tablets and injecting herself with insulin each time she ate, I would have thought if you were on metformin before that you would have to continue taking them? Will they be doing a glucose test?

k4rlyb · 19/01/2018 17:25

Congratulations @birdy1978 how did they do the Down syndrome test? I have my 12 week scan next week, like to be prepared.

BertieBotts · 19/01/2018 17:36

Aww birdy how exciting!! Lovely scans everyone.

I think you'll be alright with pineapple if you avoid the core. The key ingredient, I remember from TTC, is in the core! And tinned pineapple is definitely okay because the process of canning neutralises the bromelain.

Frescoed · 19/01/2018 17:48

Gosh birdy congratulations! Very exciting. Lovely to see/hear about all the scans and positive test results. Hope those who have had bad sickness are starting to improve - sorry to hear it’s getting worse Eloisa.

All quiet here, I’ve got a stinking cold but nothing exciting - scan in a couple of weeks, booking in was all fine and with a lovely midwife and student midwife (who struggled a bit with the bloods).

tinotheartisticmouse · 19/01/2018 17:53

Wow our first twins. Congrats birdy
Have your symptoms been stronger this time?

birdy1978 · 19/01/2018 18:00

k4rlyb the midwife had my blood results and input them into the computer with the scan results and my age risk and had the risks available right away - so nice to know right away.

tino ironically less symptoms this time round apart from my work uniform already not fitting (I was blaming Christmas!). A bit of nausea, no sickness, sore boobs.

Lucylou86 · 19/01/2018 18:13

@birdy1978
Twins!! How exciting! Congratulations Grin

Stephiewoo · 19/01/2018 18:38

@birdy1978 Congrats that must be overwhelming but so exciting 😊

Expecto · 19/01/2018 18:47

@Bertie...that’s interesting, I didn’t realise it was in the core but don’t most people discard the core anyway?

Expecto · 19/01/2018 18:48

@birdy1978 so jealous! Good luck
