@Nixen I hope the spotting turns out to be nothing. Can you make a telephone appt with gp first thing? Mine phoned epu for me and got me a scan appointment although I think you can also self refer to an epu. For tonight I'd try to just say get as much rest as you can and try not to think the worst even though that's easier said than done. Like others have said spotting can be normal in lots of cases although it's understandable why it would be worrying xxx

Sorry for silly question - What does Team Yellow mean on the list of due dates?
(I'm 30, due on 5/9 with my first) xx

muffyduffster · 16/01/2018 07:04

Morning @Scout2018
It means you don't know/aren't finding out whether the baby is a boy or a girl.

intelligentPutty · 16/01/2018 07:29

Hi @Maxiflump1. I was so tired and sick last night, was in bed by 7 (not that my DD age 3 was having any of it!!) Couldn't even think of looking at phone. Good to have a due date buddy! Is it your first?
Nixen I'd take yourself to the EPU this morning, they are really good there and its better to be safe.

Morning all. Could someone add me to the next list. 28 - #2 - EDD 23/09/18.

Nausea has kicked in this morning which is slightly reassuring. I didn't have any sickness with dd but plenty of nausea. Trying to convince myself to have some toast.

Going to pop to the doctors this morning, you fill in a self referral here for the midwives. With dd I left it a bit longer and wasn't seen till very late and they struggled to get my 12 week scan booked. We had to go to a hospital mies away. So hopefully doing it early will help this time.

Mrsssmith11 · 16/01/2018 08:06

Can someone add me to the list? Can't do it on phone.

Bearsonstairs · 16/01/2018 08:10

Hi all, just been catching up on posts. A lot happens in a few days. Nice to see some newbies and congrats to those with good scans. My scan is on Thursday - think I will be 7+5 so hopeful of seeing a heartbeat. I also have a job interview tomorrow so my mind is all over the place! Nausea has settled a bit, the constant snacking has definitely helped me.

Fingers crossed for @Nixen.

Nixen · 16/01/2018 08:12

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Touch wood, I haven’t had any more spotting since yesterday. Woke up incredibly nauseous today. Phoned my GP and have an appt for 10am and I’m not leaving the surgery until they’ve a) referred me to the midwife like they said they had.. 2 weeks ago and b) organised a scan at the epu.

Can’t self refer to our epu here unfortunately, and scanning is only done til 3.30 so phone anytime after that and you’re shit outta luck anyway! Also can’t self refer to our midwives either, when I had my miscarriage in July the midwife contacted me by text to organise my booking in appt at the local children’s centre yet according to the fairly useless doctor I saw two weeks ago I’ll get a letter and then go the the hospital for it. He wouldn’t refer me to the midwife until my blood test results had come back. They came back so I had a phone consultation with another dr, and when I asked her to refer me to the midwife she said the other dr had already done it. So I think I’ve slipped through the net with it tbh. Less than impressed by the fact that no one I’ve encounteted so far seems to be very caring at all towards a very anxious and worried pregnant woman.

Sals27 · 16/01/2018 08:32

@nixen That sounds so crap! Glad you've got an appointment with dr and can get it sorted. Fx the spotting has stopped and all is ok.

Nausea has arrived here. I felt slightly nauseous yesterday but tried to ignore it but its more noticeable and harder to ignore today. It might be related to an empty stomach because it went yesterday after i ate.

Paranormalbouquet · 16/01/2018 08:46

Nixen hope all goes well today, self referrals are so much more efficient, I don’t know why your area hasn’t adopted them.

My nausea is ok if I’m not doing much but the commute and being around strong smells is a killer. It’s much better in the evenings though- hardly gag on the toothbrush even at night whereas in the morning it’s awful. Switching to bus as much as possible from tomorrow- at least I’ll get a seat and sit near a window so I’ll be more comfortable.

Namechangedtoscream · 16/01/2018 08:47

@nixen that sounds beyond frustrating! I hope you get somewhere with them today.

I am a mess today. Kept up all night with a mix of sickness and anxiety. Panicking about giving birth (already!) As I cant use opioid medication and I'm terrified they won't listen and just shove some in me like they did with my first (I'm allergic to it since having gallbladder surgery and i would rather not develop pancreatitis whilst labouring!). Then had a panic that am I doing the right thing having another when we are settled as a family and my teen dd is happy and I'm 5 years from getting my life back...

Then I was sick again.

And none of my bras fit so I'm wfh today in my pjs.

I ought to book in with the midwife too but don't want to until after Monday but by then I'll be 7+2ish.

I feel rubbish and actually wonder at what point do I call in sick for a breather

kirinm · 16/01/2018 09:05

Nixen, I was stood in my GP surgery a week or so ago. Bleeding, crying and telling the receptionist I'd miscarried 5 times before and they couldn't have given less of a shit. Nurses and consultants at the EPU are a lot more sympathetic though (would be hard to be less sympathetic).

Even after 4 losses, I had to fight to get a referral to the EPU. Thankfully I was able to self refer this time.

dingdongdigeridoo · 16/01/2018 09:06

Good luck today Nixen. It's good that you're having symptoms.

I''ve already switch to pregnancy bras namechanged. Got a couple off Amazon for £15 and they're so comfortable. Yeah, I'm starting to get the panic about birth too. Our local hospital is shit, and didn't believe I was in labour last time, so I didn't get the right pain relief. We live further from it now, and I'm worried about getting there and who will look after DS. I know I shouldn't be thinking about it right now, but it's a worry.

Paranormalbouquet · 16/01/2018 09:10

I’ve switched to pregnancy bras too already, even though I HATE them. I’m terrified about a premature delivery and terrified I’ll be put on bed rest early on. If I get to anything close to term I’ll have an elective section so at least I’ll know what to expect!

Sals27 · 16/01/2018 10:12

I feel sick, I'm so bloated that I feel like if you stick a pin in me I'll pop, sore boobs and I'm exhausted even after 9 hours sleep. Today is the first day I feel pregnant. I'm not sure if I'm happy about this or not Grin

Nixen · 16/01/2018 10:59

I had the same useless locum GP who told me ‘you just need to relax, and phone us again if you are bleeding heavily’. No understanding at all of how distressed I am. Asked what I do for a living and told me to take it easy, no heavy lifting etc and that was that. Pointless waste of my time.

Namechangedtoscream · 16/01/2018 11:03

@nixen that's an awful attitude to take! Can you ring EPU for advice and explain that your Dr has been less than helpful?

Tbh chances are very high all will be well but I totally understand why you're anxious

Nixen · 16/01/2018 11:32

Do you know what I think is really shitty? Telling a person who has been diagnosed with anxiety to relax. It’s like telling someone with depression to cheer up. It’s not that simple and I wish I could relax and wish for the best and be hopeful but my miscarriage robbed me of all pregnancy innocence.

Nixen · 16/01/2018 11:33

Sorry that wasn’t directed at anyone on this thread at all to be clear that was directed at the doctor today telling me I just need to relax Hmm
On the plus side I’m getting the flu jab on Thursday morning now

Fia256 · 16/01/2018 11:42

@Nixen I know exactly how you feel! In my last pregnancy I just knew I was going to miscarry and went to the drs in the hope of being given blood tests or getting booked in for an early scan. The dr I saw refused to let me telling me it would make my anxiety worse and I just needed to relax. He asked my why I thought I'd be entitled to an early scan (I'd had 3 previous losses already, being later on!!!) and was in general an absolute twat. I left in tears and sobbed for hours at home after.

Is there any chance you could ring up the surgery and complain and ask to speak to someone else? That's what I did and receptionist had a lovely dr ring me up after who couldn't have been more helpful. I've actually asked to put a comment on my name to never see that dr again, and this time i spoke to another dr who again was lovely and helpful. It's really not on when they act like your the one with the problem!!

Namechangedtoscream · 16/01/2018 11:47

Rant away it's understandable you're frustrated with them. I agree with making a complaint their attitude is appalling.

Paranormalbouquet · 16/01/2018 11:48

@Nixen I’m sorry you didn’t have a helpful experience. Try ringing EPU or midwife directly and explaining how concerned you are.

LostMyBaubles · 16/01/2018 12:42

Nixen that's really shitty!
Rant away don't worry about it

I'm not in maternity bras yet as I need the support from my normal bras atm

Morning sickness is living upto it's name

6 weeks tomorrow (after my scan dates were changed)

Waiting on epu to ring as they never rang regarding My hcg levels ehich I'm taking as good news

iamloading · 16/01/2018 12:56

Does anyone know if there are any throat lozenges that are safe to use? I've come down with the worst cold and my throat feels like daggers

UppityStitch · 16/01/2018 13:07

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about your troubles @Nixen. Fingers crossed everything goes well today and you get some help and good news Thanks

Yay! @intelligentPutty. You're my due date buddy and we both have 3 year olds.
We swimming this morning and the heat in the centre may have been too much. Now I'm nauseous and crampy. Fun times!
