Maxi my friend has a failed forceps delivery first time with a significant episiotomy (emergency csection after) but had her second as a successful vbac with no interventions. Not quite the same but the recovery from the forceps/episiotomy was nearly a year for her. How long ago was your first?

Thoro thanks for sharing your positive experience!

Namechangedtoscream · 23/01/2018 19:18

My husband is currently trying to convince me I want to go to Cornwall on holiday in the last week of august... we live in Essex. He can't understand why I keep saying no.

maxiflump1 · 23/01/2018 19:20

Thanks @Flybynight1 that's good to hear. DS is 3 so hopefully had plenty of time to heal.

Nixen · 23/01/2018 19:31

Does anyone else feel like they’re getting full much quicker when eating? I felt hungry, made dinner, ate maybe half and am stuffed. Bet I’ll be hungry again in an hour though!

kirinm · 23/01/2018 19:37

The amount of food I'm eating has definitely decreased but my nausea has also increased. Food used to calm the nausea down but not anymore.

dingdongdigeridoo · 23/01/2018 19:46

Thanks Flybynight1. I don’t think I have the space for a birthing pool and god knows how I’d keep that filled up! Plastic bed sheets sound good though.

I’m also eating less at the moment, but feeling hungry much more often. I’m going through an annoying cycle of sick, starving, then bloated.

MrsCaecilius · 23/01/2018 19:50

Thanks for your experience @Thoroflo ! I'd like to aim for a home birth and will then be guided by the midwives as this is my first!

loveulotslikejellytots · 23/01/2018 20:28

Thanks dingdongdigeridoo I didn't ask last time, but I think I was neevous and happy to go with what I was told. With dd, she pooed so there as meconium in my waters. Which resulted in hours and hours of being flat on my back hooked up to a monitor and a drip. Ended in emcs, not so much because of dd, she was ok, but in 20 hours I'd only got to 2cms and was knackered! I'd do a lot differently this time, try and find a compromise to some things if I can.

I will definitely ask the midwife about a home birth. The only thing that concerns me is if we had to transfer. We are 20 mins from our nearest hospital, probably 15mins by ambulance. DH is a firefighter, they get sent to so many ambulance calls because the wait for an ambulance is horrendous. I know a labouring woman would be a priority but what if the wait was 30mins? 40mins? An hour?

isthismummy · 23/01/2018 20:35

Hello everyone, may I join in please? I'm five weeks pregnant following ivf treatment. It's my first pregnancy at the ancient age of 39 and I could really use some support! Thank you🙂

UppityStitch · 23/01/2018 20:38

So sorry to hear your news @Paranormalbouquet Thanks

Someone mentioned upthread about aspirin. I've been on 75mg daily since my positive test. I was advised to by my consultant as I normally take blood thinners. Same as my last pregnancy. This will go up to
150mg at 12 weeks.

I bought myself a blood pressure monitor today as mine has conveniently died a death. I'm on nifedipine this time round. Last time I was on labetalol which worked most of the time. I still had a few flare ups and I developed post partum eclampsia.

Thoroflo · 23/01/2018 20:38

@loveyoulotslikejellytots I’m pretty sure they told me last time that they call and kind of put an ambulance on standby (?), or let them know they may be needed. don’t quote me on that though, my brain has turned to mush these last few weeks Grin. It’s only been 15 months since DC3 was born too, you think I’d remember.

They will explain everything to you if you asked to be referred, you can always change your mind again. At least with the midwives in my area. With DC2 I didn’t even decide until I was 34 weeks, and then I still wasn’t sure until they came over and explained the ins and outs.

MonaTheMoaner · 23/01/2018 20:38

Welcome isthismummy! Any symptoms yet?

Paranormalbouquet · 23/01/2018 20:40

@loveulotslikejellytots I’m probably a little biased because of my job (work in healthcare- not obstetrics or paeds!) but I would not attempt a home birth after c-section; the consequences if complications are just too high. All the studies say homebirth is safe in the right circumstance- previous vaginal delivery, uncomplicated ideally. There’s lots of things that can be done to make your chances of a vbac more likely- you should talk to your midwife about that. I’d really like a VBAC this time but given that I tore my uterus and cervix last time I think the risk of rupture is too high.

I feel good this evening for the first time in days. Hopefully it’s just a temporary relief and not bad news but I’ve just had my first non bread based meal in around a week!

Secondsop · 23/01/2018 20:44

Welcome @thisismummy , and congratulations! You’re not the oldest! points at self

@UppityStitch I’ve got a bp monitor too - bought one during pregnancy 1 when there was a period when I was told to have my bp checked daily.

Ooooh congrats @isthismummy! I'm sure I remember you from some of the infertility boards? So glad to see you here!!!

greeny506 · 23/01/2018 20:48

@HannahJH yes!! I've been lurking on many boards here as got my BFP on Sunday - think I'm around 4 weeks 5 days now and just have this heavy dull ache in my abdomen. It does come and go and it's not painful but it does feel like somethings stretching! I'm so nervous it's an ectopic and every time I go to the toilet (loads!) I'm worried about seeing blood! This pregnancy lark is not so fun...!!!

loveulotslikejellytots · 23/01/2018 21:07

Paranormalbouquet m- see I did wonder if a previous c section would rule me out anyway. To be honest as much as I would love one, we discussed it last time and DH was really not comfortable with it, purely because of the 'what if' factor. We shall see, to be honest I may ask for a home birth in the hopes that they would compromise on MLU with a pool (if there was one available).

The MLU and consultant led delivery unit are opposite sides of a corridor in our hospital. We shall see, that's seems like so far away at this point!

Weareboatsremember · 23/01/2018 21:24

Hi all! Got bfp on Saturday and am 4+6 with Edd of 26th sept. Already have a 4yo who will be 5 when this baby comes, although I’ve had 2 miscarriages (1 mmc a couple of years ago, and another in October 17). This is my last attempt at another child, so if this one doesn’t stick then I’m out of the game.
Kind of hoping that I might be able to get an earlyish reassurance scan at around 9 weeks as my mmc was picked up at a private scan, and I don’t want to have to wait until 12 weeks for bad news!
Gl all

intelligentPutty · 23/01/2018 21:41

Hi to all the newcomers. Big congratulations. @greeny506 @isthismumy
@Weareboatsremember Sounds like we are in a similar boat.
I have a dd who is 3, nearly 4. And ectopic pregnancy in July 16 and mmc In April 17.

This is our last attempt now. I can't cope with the heartache and the emotional rollercoaster. Hopefully it'll all work out but can't believe that atm. Few weeks yet.

Weareboatsremember · 23/01/2018 21:45

@intelligentPutty fingers crossed then! Let’s hope these first few weeks pass quickly and safely.

smilingelizabeth · 23/01/2018 22:00

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this thread. I got my positive yesterday and I'd love to join this thread.
Congratulations to you all.

intelligentPutty · 23/01/2018 22:20

@Weareboatsremember yes. Fingers crossed Smile
Congratulations smiling bet u are smiling now.

MonaTheMoaner · 23/01/2018 22:28

Welcome everyone! Flowers

Nausea hasn’t been too bad today so despite seeing the heartbeat on a scan yesterday, I’m obviously anxious. Why am I like this? Grin

Ktn35 · 23/01/2018 22:37

Hi! Can I join here too?! I’m 4+4 and insanely anxious but trying not to be! Anyone else go through periods of convincing themselves they made a mistake?! X

Ktn35 · 23/01/2018 22:38
