hi all!

j20-like everyone else says, your better off without him.what a pig to treat you like that!and for your friend to get all insensitive with you...well,friends like that you dont need.

as for the itching, not had itchy nips, but my back and belly have been driving me batty!!im scratching my back more tahn my tum, mainly because my belly is like a road map of the uk with all my stretch marks from previous pregnancies,so i dont itch them too much...made one open up and bleed when was pg with dd,and dont wnat to do it again!!

been awake most of the night again..started off had a bad dream (a lorry crashed into my house and me and dd were stuck in the living room and couldnt get out),then had bh for the rest of teh night.been getting them on and off for a few days, but had them from 3.30am until just after 8 this morning.baby is wriggling around (and kicked dd in her head when she was having a listen!)so im not worried about the baby, just worried why i got them for so long.

anyway, moan over...welcome to the newbie by the way!!

ejt...step away from the veggies...and go and rest!!!

have a great day everyone!!

KezzaG · 29/05/2007 11:24

Hi all

ejt, god that is so scary. My worst nightmare is going to the tiolet and seeing blood, how scary for you. I do understand your reluctance to get signed off, but if anything went wrong you would never forgive yourself if you hadnt rested. You have the rest of you life to work. Hope you feel ok.

J20, poor you. What a twat the sperm donor is. He might well have been playing happy families with someone else but do you really think it will last. If he can care so little for you he isnt reliable or even a very nice person so I am sure he will treat his new gf just as badly when he feels like it. you sound incredibly strong, keep going,you have all of us behind you [smile}

Welcome nellie. I actually called the MW last week as baby hasnt moved as much, she said it was far to early to be worrying about feotal movement and I am 22 weeks. Sure enough, that evening baby kicked its hardest yet and made the book I was laying reading bounce on my belly.

Who said they got an Urban Detour - I have one, absolutely love it. It is so smooth and easy to push that I never ended up getting a smaller buggy and still use it for ds. We live near Epping forest and it has seen so much use off road, deffo worth getting one with pump up tyres.

FT, it is really hard knowing when to buy stuff isnt it. I sent dh out while I was still in hospital to buy more babygros and sanitary towels. Poor man, he did it though. I am much more relaxed this time round. I want to repaint the nursery but will wait til babys born and I know it is deffo a boy. Last time I had to have everything ready so its quite a revelation to be calm - maybe I shouldnt speak too soon, come mid September I will have dh up a ladder cleaning the coving or something equally as ludicrous

Mumpbump · 29/05/2007 11:45

Morning all! I am not even going to try to catch up on everything that people have said, particularly as I still have a shedload of emails to get through at work...

J20 - he sounds like an *rsehole and I have no doubt you and your lo will be much better off without him. It is odd how some people don't have a parental bone in their bodies...

Nellieloula - congratulations and welcome! I agree that it is still quite early. Bubba (as it is now called) has days of being quiet and days of being very active so don't worry too much!

EJT - posted for you on the other thread, I think. Get yourself signed off work - you must be supremely selfish at this point in your life and do whatever is necessary to ensure that you and the lo are okay.

Nezi - we hardly had anything last time. Dh went out with the dsc to buy extra sleepsuits and I had to ring my mum from the hospital to ask her to buy some nappies for ds as we didn't even have them!! But it was all fine. Nowadays with big 24 hour shops, I don't think it matters if you're not fully prepared as dh can always occupy himself whilst waiting for visiting hours...

Hi to everyone else! Had a crappy day yesterday with ds. He was bored, I was bored, all it did was rain... Not looking forward to being at home in the winter months with him, but hopefully the new baby will provide some distraction... That said, he was very clingy this morning and apparently cried all the way to nursery. It made me feel terrible when I heard than and I wonder how he is going to readjust to going to nursery again when I go back to work next time...

j20baby · 29/05/2007 12:33

Hi everyone, feeling loads better today, thanks for your support, much appreciated[sniff]
he's already got a ds aged 3, and i don't think he treats him very well, but such was my broodiness, i think any old sperm donor would have done

it was me that bought the urban detour, i'm still very chuffed, although it is sat in my living room at the moment, as i've got nowhere to put it yet until i get the kitchen put in, so i can move all the boxes from under the stairs, dd keeps having great fun with it for her dolls, no matter how many times i tell her to get off it-its my new toy, but she's excited too, bless her

i've got really itchy legs too, but its mainly my left nipple driving me mad, will have to go get some cream.

i think we're going to have to do a part 3 thread soon, any suggestions for a title? god forbid that we offend anyone like some of the other antenatal threads apparantly did :0

hope everyone has a nice week

OP posts:
gemmamc · 29/05/2007 13:26

hello! hope you had a nice weekend (apart from the fact the weather was not good at all, I enjoyed it...)

Itchy nipples - yes, ouch....so irritating. I've had this problem for a 2-3 weeks now and it's driving me mad. I've tried both mothercare nipple cream and E45 (on GP's advice) and neither worked. Actually the mothercare one made me feel A LOT worse, and the left nipple started burning so much I decided to wipe off the cream - perhaps an allergic reaction?. E45 - the jury is still out. I am not trying to figure out whether I am better off not putting anything at all on them. Pretty annoying really...

As for foetal movements, I got a bit worried too because after feeling them really early for a first pregnancy, at 15-16 weeks, they then completely disappeared for around 2 weeks (they've just started again now - at 19 weeks). I asked the GP and she said at this stage it's normal for them to come and go even for many days at a time.

betsycoe · 29/05/2007 13:44

Hi All,
J20 - your ex sounds awful, you sound like you are well rid of him. My Mum brought me and my sister up alone and I have a lot of respect for single mothers. I recently started to talk to my Dad again and he is tormented with guilt about the past. I can't condone what he did but it makes me feel better to point out that it was his choice and he was the one who missed out in the end!

Nellie - welcome. I started to feel movements at 18 weeks. When I mentioned this to my midwife she said it is perfectly normal to have days when you don't feel much (if the baby has shifted position). She said that it is only after 26 weeks that you need to start paying attention to the frequency as you should feel more by then.

EJT - hope you are feeling better this week. We had a similar weekend. My beans, peas, corgettes and sweetcorn are now attracting the local slug population. I was out last night collecting them with a torch, the neighbours must think I've lost it!

Prams - We've just started the search for 'the one'. Has anyone used the out 'n' about 360? I've had a quick look at one and they seem great (except the lack of a car seat - but I can live with that).

nellieloula · 29/05/2007 14:00

Thanks everyone for all your feedback - I feel so so much better now. Have a good afternoon.

Mumpbump · 29/05/2007 15:54

Well, just been well and truly outed at work by one of the secretaries. Was desperately hoping to make it through the scan tomorrow before having to confirm, but the security bloke asked if I was expecting again last week and as I'm now out of my normal clothes, I guess it is blindingly obvious... Explained that I was waiting for the 22 week scan before confirming anything - btw, my scan is tomorrow afternooon and I won't be able to post until Thursday so don't be worried that I don't post tomorrow...

j20baby · 29/05/2007 16:00

good luck mump

Evening all ...

nellieloula - hi and welcome - hope it's a boring and uneventful pregnancy for you! As for movements / getting lo to move, I find a fizzy drink - or somebody putting cold hands on my belly tends to start my lo tapdancin again!

buffy - what horrible dreams - and then to have the bh - ugh! Im still getting non painful contractions / bh, but I'm so used to them now, I can ignore them most of the time!

kezza / mumpbump - I think I am probably going to do the sensible thing and get signed off work (again!) - it depends on what they say tomorrow!

mumpbump - good luck for tomorrow! Sorry to hear you had a crappy day yesterday - when ds is very clingy, I tend to take advantage of it, and build dens and stuff with him ...

gemma - sorry to hear you've got itchy nipples - ouch! Just to let you know that E45 is a cosmetic rather than a medicine - try Aqueous cream - you can get it in huge vats from the pharmacy, and it's much cheaper than anything else too! We use gallons of the stuff in our house. I was put onto it as a general all purpose body cream / shower cream by a pharmacist friend of mine who apparently uses nothing but (and she always loks terrific!)

betsy - it's a really satisfying feeling getting the veggies into the plot - I have got so fed up of the slugs that I use the slug pellets with wild abandon!

inzi - like the new name!

Well, fil brought ds back this afternoon - they were having him (supposedly) until about 4pm this afternoon to give me a chance to write some reports (I've got about 300 to do!) ... they rolled up at 1.30pm! Lovely though it is to have ds back, I was cross as yet again my pil have arranged things so they p!ss me off - and do the exact opposite of what we'd arranged. ds has come back with a right attitude on him, and has already been on the naughty step twice (I didn't have to put him there either time, thankfully), and has now gone to bed and fallen straight to sleep! Much as I like him to have contact with the pil, they seem to do everything in their power to do the exact opposite of the way we do things... rant over!

Will let you know how the scan goes tomorrow - might not be til late: I've got to see the docs too.

Have a lovely Wednesday everybody!

j20baby · 29/05/2007 20:10

good luck for tommorrow ejt, i hope everything is ok for you x

morning all!!

ejt hope it goes well today, same too for mump!

had another bad night, just cant get to sleep after i wake up.had another odd dream,my mum and step dad (who is also my fil!!) had bought an ice cream van.i went with them to deliver some ice cream to a park/zoo.loads of men (like rugby players) came out of this building singing.i was pushing my silver cross pram and carrying dd.this man grabbed hold of me and wouldnt let me go.i started screaming at him to let go because i was pg.he said sorry.i saw dh chatting up this very tarty looking woman and got all upset that he hadnt come to my rescue!!i went in a mood after having a go at him and stormed off.a woman (who used to live near us but recently moved) came up to have a look in the pram to see what id had.the pram was empty and i said i was pg but i couldnt find my baby.i started crying and dh came stomping over and had a go at me for getting ice cream on my new prams wheels!!!

woke up and couldnt get back to sleep after that!!!was trying to work out what it all meant...after a couple of hours of doing my own head in,i gave up and decided its the bloody hormones again!!!

anyway...itchy nipples...have you tried kamilosan?i know its mainly used after youve started feeding, but its got camomile in it and is really soothing,so it might stop the itching.

prams..i had an urban detour pinnacle for ds2 when he was little,it was a burgindy one with a massive bike tyre type back wheels!!dh got it out of the loft last year (totally forgot it was up there!!) and we sold it on ebay for £150!!!and it was over 3 years old,so they are very popular and you get money back on them when you sell them!!dd has a jane slalom pro (and a mamas and papas ziko for the car),the slalom pro is great for off roads, and folds easily.but it doesnt fit in our boot so that was why we got a ziko for her.luckily because of her having cf she is only small so fits in the 3 wheeler and probably will do for another couple fo years.she gets out of breath when walking so needs her pushchair when we go out.ive also kept her emmaljunga city cross for the baby (plan is to have the silver cross at home, along with the jane for dd and in the car have the emmaljunga and ziko-by then we will have a bigger car so they'll both fit!!)im a complete pramaholic,dd has had so many!!but im sticking to this plan now, mainly because the silver cross is so expensive (£754.99 from glasgow pram centre) and its the one ive always wanted,so id better make it last!!!

anyway,im off,as usual my belly is rumbling away!!have a great day everyone!!

Mumpbump · 30/05/2007 11:29

Morning all! Thanks for the well wishes - I will hopefully report back with good news tomorrow...

Buffy - I also had a wierd dream last night. Dreamt that I was around 39 weeks and my waters broke so I was waiting for labour to start. Then I started bleeding and had to find a m/w in the hospital to ask to be checked out. By the time I found her (just finishing delivering a baby), it was the end of her working week and I had to wait until the next day! Not the worst dream about this pg I've had, but unsettling...

gemmamc · 30/05/2007 11:48

hello everyone!

My dreams have become so weird that I just stop thinking about it. I am managing to forget them as soon as I wake up...they clearly mean nothing apart from maybe expressing our deep fears and worries about the changes that are happening.

Today I am a bit because my 20 week scan has been moved from the 6th to the 8th of June.....48 extra hours of waiting....but I guess it's not that different in the end.

Buffy - thanks for the tip on kamilosan - I might try that too! Yesterday someone (sorry, can't remember who...) said I could try aqueous cream. I find that cream great for all sorts of itchy/dry skin problems e.g. on my legs, but it didn't to a great deal for the nipples unfortunately...

nellieloula · 30/05/2007 13:48

Hope the scans went well today - thinking of you both.

FloriaTosca · 30/05/2007 16:28

Hope the scans went well ejt and mumpbump.

Last night Dh came home with a grin on his face;...he'd been talking prams at work and one of the managers wives turned out to be a pramoholic (she has 5 but has to get rid because they are just about to have DC#2 so need a double one now!)and one of her collection has been sat wrapped in plastic in the garage for 12 months because she ordered it in red and it arrived in green! (apparently they brought the right colur round later but didnt take the wrong one away despite several reminders..and 12 months later it doesnt look like they are going to come and get it) so they said we can have it if we want it!!! Personally I dont care about the colour at all..I just want something light and adaptable but knowing this woman it is likely to be a bugaboo or quinny certainly a fashionable "name"... and if I dont like it one of the grans can have it for when they are baby sitting! Dh is over the moon....anything to save money !

I hope those with itches are finding some relief..I had forgottten about aqueous cream and used some last night..ooh it did make a difference

karlou · 30/05/2007 17:32

Oooh FT - lucky you! We're lucky because we kept most of the baby stuff from last time, although as it's over 5 years old (in some cases nearly 13 years because it was used by our niece first) some of it does look a bit dated now.

Hope all went well with the scan today mumpbump

jersey · 30/05/2007 18:55

Evening, so many messages, don't seem to get time to come on here since I stopped working !

DS2 has chicken pox at moment so just waiting for DS1 to get it.

Detailed scan on Friday pm so hoping little one is feeling like showing us his/her bits! Last 2 haven't been shy so fingers crossed.

Hope everyone ok as haven't had time to catch up.

We were supposed to be going out today as is my birthday (36!!!!!!!) but as DS2 very spotty etc. been stuck at home all day looking after grumpy children.

Hope to get online on friday.

ejt1764 · 30/05/2007 19:05

a quick update - have been for a scan this afternoon, and everything is fine - no placenta praevia, no placental abruptions - apparently it's just 'one of those things' ...

The sense of relief is enormous!

Here's hoping it doesn't happen again!

Thank you to everybody who helped to calm me down when I was panicking - much appreciated!

Waves to everybody on the thread!

j20baby · 30/05/2007 19:09

morning all.

ejt fab news about the scan, but still try to rest as much as you can.

happy birthday jersey for yesterday!!nice to see you again!!

ft thats great about the pram!at least you wont have to trawl through shops looking at different ones!!

karlou i wish i had done that, saved things, but after each baby ive handed things on so have had to start all over again!my cousin had a baby last august and i gave her the last of teh things i had left, didnt think i would ever get pg again after trying for so long and then 2 mcs last year.so i got rid of the last of my things and then ended up preggers again!!!sods law!!

gemma kamilosan was the only cream i ever found helped with itchy/sore nipples when ive been pg before.failing that my friend said she used to get itchy nipples when she was having her 1st one and she put cabbage leaves that had been in the fridge on her boobs!apparently her mw had told her t try it,because it works for other boob probs aswell when your feeding.she said she felt abit of an idiot sitting there with cabbages on her boobs, but the coldness stopped her itching!worth a try if all else fails!

had yet another bad night again.had a dream that i went to see the wiggles (was meant to be going next week but got my scan that day!)and ended up having a quickie backstage with anthony wiggle!(the blue one!)will never be able to watch the wiggles with dd again without blushing!!!couldnt get back to sleep after that so came down at 3.30!night go back to bed when dh gets up,he can see to the kids for a couple of hours!!

anyway,hope mumps scan went well.

hi to everyone else!have a great day everyone!
