ejt -hope your scan goes well too will be thinking of you.
Your Dep sounds like my old one, vindictive little Hitler he was. A true case of 'little man syndrome'if ever I saw one!

ejt1764 · 21/05/2007 18:14

hmp - the really scary thing about this deputy head is that she's a woman - with 2 kids of her own ... (both in their teens, and she famously sailed through both her pregnancies ...)

The horrible thing is that she's the person in charge of staff welfare! Unfortunately, she seems to causes more problems than she helps with!

HonorMatopoeia · 21/05/2007 18:20

Sounds awful, sorry you're going through this . We're without a dep at the momment, our head is dreadful ehough! She had her son on the Friday and was back in work on the monday - They're a different breed aren't they?!

FloriaTosca · 21/05/2007 18:21

Thought I'd better add myself back in....not that I'll be adding the sex, I want a surprise ... DH doesn't, he wants to know, but he's still in Sth Africa and so can't ask!....I might ask them to put it in an envelope for him but I'll lynch him if he lets slip!)

On another message board I (occasionally) post on, they did theire measurements with sheets of loo roll!

I now measure 43 1/2 " (where di those extra inches come from?) - or 8 1/2 sheets of loo roll!

Pheebe · 21/05/2007 20:05

Evening everyone

I'm a bit worried tonight, I have the wierdest sensation that everythings dropping out 'down below' and I feel (and am ) a bit swollen down there too. Had what felt like a big gush of fluid earlier on too when I was walking up the hill to collect DS from nursery, was panic stricken I was bleeding. i wasn't and it can't have been that much as I wasn't exactly soaked or anything. Also started having some crampy pains in the last hour, like period pains, low down. Nothing regular, just darn uncomfortable. So so sorry if this is TMI but I thought as most of you guys are a week or so ahead of me you'd be the best to ask.

phebee, i've been exactly the same, the gushing, the swollenness and the crampy pains, but i haven't been too worried because i can still feel the lo moving and it doesn't seem to be anything too sinister in my case.

but if your worried you should contact your mw, sorry i haven't been much help, i'm sure someone that is more reasuring will be along soon

Pheebe · 21/05/2007 21:12

Thanks J20 and nezi, had a bath and feel much better now, still crampy but not so bad. bub is still wriggling like a goodun so I think I'll call the mw in the morning and see what she thinks

What is it with kids n stones and where are their parents!! Why can't more people be like buffy?

alicet · 22/05/2007 07:11

Pheebe hope you're doing ok this am. But I would say def call your midwife as you can't be too careful. The gushing you felt could be your waters (and a lot of other things too...) just leaking a bit - your midwife will be able to advise how likely this is. I know someone this happened to and they needed to be on antibiotics and have a careful eye kept on them. Fingers crossed not though.

Good names MrsFish!!!

WHy is it the women who give us the hardest time? I was workign for a woman who sounds a little like your dephead ejt when I had to go off last time. 3 boys, worked till the end and back after 6 weeks with them all. Now I'm working for 3 blokes awho have kids nd they're so protective of me its great! I think they're more understanding as they think of how they would want their wife treated. Their faces when I said a couple of weeks ago that I was having mild pains and my midwife had advised me to go home was a picture. They just told me to go, not worry about covering anything and did I need a cab? And they're surgeons too so its not just that they're fazed by womens stuff!!! Blokes are good for some things!

Good luck to floria on wed too - missed you out earlier as I didn't realise your scan was then! Will be thinking of you all over next couple of days. Am away at a meeting and I have to say the thing I'm most looking forward to is a nights undisturbed sleep!! Ds not sleeping well with the pox and my dh has gone down with a flu-like thing. Looks really rubbish and he doesn't do manflu or wingeing. MIL is here to help thank goodness!

Anyway - must go as have to leave for work soon and ds just woken....

Thinking of you all!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 22/05/2007 08:31

morning everyone!

just had a text off another mnetter and her waters broke at 1.45 this morning!she was off to hospital at 6.50.im sooooo excited for her!!shes on the may thread, and was getting very fed up of waiting the otehr day when she text me!!

just think though ladies.....that'll be us in a few months time!!!im soooo excited!!!!!hope this next 5 months pass as quickly as the last 5 have.they just seem to have flown by.

didnt feel baby move yesterday so last night put the doppler on,and he kicked it!!couldnt believe how hard it was and the doppler moved off my tum!guess he didnt want to be disturbed!!

talked to ds last night and he promised that hes not going to do anything liek that again.he said he didnt think i would ring the police and now he knows i wont hessitate to ring them,he said he wont get into trouble again.so i think my "tough love" approach has worked.(need a stick your tiongue out emoticon to show my mum!!!)

oh well, off to do some shopping today.not that i feel liek it,im knackered.is anyone e,se having trouble sleeping?i lay on my side and lo starts kicking me.turn over and dd is in bed with us and wakes up if i move!not good!!she just wont sleep in her cot, even though its right against our bed.

good luck to those with scans today!cant wait to see what the boy/girl score will be!!

greedygreedyguzzler · 22/05/2007 09:26

hope you are feeling better today pheebe.

how do i find out the sex of our baby without my dh finding out? he doesn't want to know, but I DO!!!!! what do you think girls? also it would be better if somehow he didn't know that i knew, if thats possible and then he wont think i am giving it away! HELP!!

PolarMummy · 22/05/2007 09:45

Morning everyone, good luck to those with scans I am sooooo jealous of you I can't wait until my next scan I have another one in just over 4 weeks time.

Am feeling a bit down at the moment, I haven't really been feeling the LO move and really want to, have felt a few strange poppings or flutters which I am presuming is the baby but nothing regular or strong. Its not that I think there is anything wrong but I just want to feel the kicks properly (you can remind me of that in a couple of months when I am complaining about being kicked all the time) and people keep asking me if I can feel the baby move and I have to keep saying not really

Just need a kick up the bum and a reality check to remember how lucky I am, any volunteers?

Mumpbump · 22/05/2007 10:05

Morning all! Another busy day on this thread, by the looks of it. Feeling tired - again - this morning and had a crying fit this morning because I didn't manage to do the washing at the weekend and didn't have anything to wear for work. I'm a bit too small for my maternity clothes still, but pretty much out of my ordinary clothes. Plus ds sat down hard on my bump whilst I was lying in bed this morning and I didn't feel the baby move for ages which was worrying. Ds then followed that up by tweaking my nipple which is SO sensitive at the moment. In a thoroughly bad tempered mood now...

Polarmummy - with your first pg, it takes longer to feel the movements. I didn't feel ds until about 20 weeks last time, but felt this one very early on. So don't worry, the movements will increase in strength and frequency...

Pheebe - I agree it is best to get it checked out. I'm sure it's nothing, but there's no point taking risks!

Greedy - don't know. I was in two minds about finding out the sex, but have agreed not to find out the sex because I am sure I would let it slip to dh who is adamant he doesn't want to know.

Buffy - glad your ds has seen the light. A boy I grew up with was a real tear-away and his parents were very slack with him. He ended up being a junkie... Very sad.

Hi to everyone else! I agree that men can be more sympathetic/protective towards a pg woman. My bosses here have been lovely both times, but they are all men!

Kittiwake · 22/05/2007 10:10

Hello all

Polarmummy - that's exactly how I am feeling I haven't felt a thing and don't really think I have much of a bump (Just the round belly I had to start with!) or put on weight much. Midwife did heartbeat thing recently so I am pretty sure everything okay and have scan tomorrow so that should help. Everyone keeps saying have you got a bump etc an dI have to say same as you not really I am sure we will look back at this and not believe we are complaining about these things as you say Mybe it's because it's our first we just want to feel more pregnant?

Pheebe · 22/05/2007 10:19

Hi All

Feeling much better this morning thanks. Bub is still wriglling and no more 'gushes' in the night. Still feel a bit 'weird' down below so I have a mw appointment this pm.

Greedy, you could ask the sonographer to write it down and put it in an envelope for you (you might have to take this with you). That way you could look and if DH changes his mind so could he. Unfortunately if you know chances are you'll give the game away, I would have found it impossible to refer to DS as it once I knew he was a boy. TBH I just can't understand how you could not want to know, I neeeeeed to know, its like a bonding thing, once you know the sex its a proper person. I just wouldn't have the patience to wait

right best get back to work...

betsycoe · 22/05/2007 10:55

Hi,
just back from the scan. I'm in shock!!

Greedy - Leave your coat/cardy or something in the waiting room, when the sonographer collects you start walking towards the room, then go 'Oh, I left my .... on the seat, can you get it for me please DH' then whisper to the woman quickly that you want to know, he doesn't and can she slip a bit of paper in with your notes, so you can see later. he won't know then

MrsFish · 22/05/2007 11:21

Congrats Betsy

FloriaTosca · 22/05/2007 12:16

Congrats Betsy!!! I would love to have a girl, but I think its a boy (from the ever so scientific methods of the wedding ring test and the chinese age/month of conception chart!)not that I mind really, just so long as it is healthy that is all I really really care about....but I don't want to know the sex for sure, I want to keep guessing to the end (got to have something to keep pushing for!). So I'm taking a slip of paper and an envelope to my scan tomorrow because DH wants to know and my consultant can write it down for him but he has been warned that I'll lynch him if he so much as hints!!!!
Pheebe, glad you are feeling better today...if it is any consolation my LO felt abnormally low last night, as you said, as if everything was going to drop out!I was actually holding my bump up everytime I stood it felt so odd. But everything felt fine this morning and my doppler picked up the heartbeat NORTH of my belly button for the first time!(it has always been below or to the side before)so I dont know what was going on last night..perhaps he/she was holding a party in there!Hope all goes well with the mw

Mumpbump · 22/05/2007 12:16

Congrats, Betsy!

karlou · 22/05/2007 12:54

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been on for a few days, the w/e is usually an internet free time and yesterday I felt really rough. Saw the m/w on Fri and my mcv and hb levels were fine so she requested a ferritin test to check my iron storage levels. She also recommended Spatone which I started taking but Sunday night had the most awful stomach cramps which went on all day yesterday. I've stopped the Spatone for now but will start again when I feel better - I'm not sure if it was that...anybody else had problems with it?

Honeyapple - you asked if this one was planned. The answer is sort of!! I had a m/c at 7 weeks last Easter and we decided to leave it till the end of the year and if nothing happened we would give up (DH is 45 this year and didn't want to be any older. Also I had 2 previous m/cs before my eldest dd and always take ages to conceive). Anyway I was intending to go and see the GP in January but never got round to it as I got the flu.....and hey presto!! I'd only just accepted a job that week as a dinner lady as my daughters' school and have recently embarked on a teaching assistant NVQ so the timing could be better. I'm really pleased though and after the initial shock so is my dh. Both the girls are really excited and have been helping to pick names.....although I've had to point out that High School Musical isn't going to replace the baby name book!

Congrats to all those who have had their scans. I don't think we're going to find out the sex. DH would like to but I like a surprise and as it's me who has to go through pregnancy and labour I win!
Welcome to any newbies too!
