Thanks for the troll/trip trap explanation btw

Mumpbump · 18/05/2007 15:25

J2O - here's a thread with a discussion of different iron supplements which I thought might be of interest... Some of them say that the tablets had a really bad effect on their tummies so they went for a different supplement...

here you go

Can you tell I'm quiet at work today?!?

Nezi are you off sick because of what happened to your dd? I was signed off for 3 months at the end of my last pregnancy as I kept fainting at work. I found it really hard to accept that I needed to have the time as I was so used to working hard and felt that as most people could manage to work when pregnant so should I! Now I have my ds I can see it was well worth it! Good your work are being supportive to you though and finding hours that can work for you...

alicet · 18/05/2007 15:59

Thanks for the welcome Mumpsbump et al and for including me on the scan list
I'm sorry you've got entiritis Buffy..I had it once, long before I was ever preg. and was miserable, I hope it clears up soon for you.
And Alicet, to have ds with chickenpox must be miserable too. The nephews had it last year and though the (then) 8 yr old was ok the 2 yr old was a nightmare he was so ill, poor little man. You are quite right to keep him away from the hospital antenatal section, our reception has a big sign asking that if you have come into contact with chickenpox to report to reception before taking a seat.
Apricott it is hard to believe you have never met your m-i-l before and are now going to have her for 3 weeks!!!! I think mine is a treasure but having just spent a long weekend away with her and s-i-l I wouldn't want to have her 24-7 for much longer! But I suppose you dont have the weekend pilgrimmage for dinner every week so it is six of one half a dozen of the other :-) ... but no wonder you are getting the housework done! Good luck to you, I hope she is a treasure and a half!
Nezi, I know what you mean about cuddling the dogs..my Dh bought me mine just after we got home from honeymoon 3 years ago because he had conned me into moving 25 miles from my family to be near his but knew he would be away from home often.. I suppose 3 yrs down the line I'm fairly used to being alone a lot but the dog definately saved us a major house move at the beginning!!

floria - thanks for your supportive message. Not to bad at the mo as ds is very happy in himself - just has a few spots so the nursery won't have him. prepared for it to get worse before it gets better but in a way better he gets in now while he's little as it tends to be milder. Just a hassle with work as we don't have family nearby but that can't be helped.

nezi - oh my god it sounds like you've had a really tough time! I thought I wasn't any good at this pregnancy thing but that makes me look like a whinger! Thankfully it seems to be settling now but look after yourself. And if you're struggling don't hesitate to go off again - your health and the health of your baby is so much more important!! Sure you're more aware of that than most...

Anyway must go play with ds - he's being really happy and smiley and fun so going to make the most of it!

ejt1764 · 18/05/2007 18:06

Afternoon all - hope you've all got nice restful weekends planned.

alice - hope ds isn't too grotty with the chickenpox - my ds had it at 18 months, and lathough he was a bit ill, he's at least got it over and done with young!

mumpbump & mrsfish - hope you've both recovered from your horrible dreams.

nezi - hope you feel more positive soon - I hate dh being away too - he has to work away quite often, for 3 - 4 days at a time. I suffered from hyperemesis as well, but it eased off sooner than with you. I'm still getting sick, but it tends to correlate exactly to just how tired I am. DH was away for a whole week while I was at my sickest. DS ate junk all week (stuff I could throw from the freezer to the oven and onto a plate), as well as watching a lot of tv!
I'm really glad they've been supportive of you at work. My work haven't been quite a good ....

floria - welcome & congratulations on getting this far! I'm sorry to hear of your losses. Here's to a long, boring and uneventful pregnancy for you this time around (if such a thing can exist when you're a human pincushion!)

buffy - you take care of yourself. As for your dates - I'd seriously consider playing my face and getting stroppy over your dates - especially as there's some discrepancies, and you may need an early induction.

Apricott - good luck with your cleaning - and with mil! I couldn't face living with mine for 3 weeks - 3 hours of her company just about does me in. They came to stay (uninvited) when ds was born, and stayed for 5 days. My abiding memory of that time is the fact that I was banished to bed, fil was told to watch over ds, while dh was told to get himself in the back garden and help her hack my garden about. He wasn't allowed any time to get to know his new son. No wonder he went back to work to escape ... leaving me alone with them. mil even wanted me to give up bf so she could feed him.
We've decided that nobody is going to be allowed to stay when this one is born. Everybody can visit - but maximum 1 hour.

j20 - the regular iron I was given last year played havoc with my digestion - I was advised to try floradix or spatone - I took floradix, which I found much gentler on my stomach. Problem is that it's not available on prescription ... although when I went back to my GP and told her the effect it was having on me, she changed my iron tablets for the same type as floradix. Give it a try.

Now for my news.

I went to see dephead today as I needed to tell her that I may have to go to physio with very little notice. Her response: "Can't you do this outside of school time?" When I answered that I would try, but that I had little choice over when my first appointment would be at least, she sighed and said: "well I hope it's only a one-off" - I couldn't say anything to that ... I'm seriously considering putting in a complaint against her now.

I've measured my "waist" - it measures 41" - my stomach comes into the room 5 minutes before the rest of me! Before this pg, I had lost weight, and was in size 12 / 14 trousers ... I'm going to be enormous!! mind you, I am only 5'2", so there's not room for it to go up much - it can only go out!

Have a good weekend all ... I'm singing with the choir at St.Fagan's tomorrow ... hope it doesn't rain!

Hi ladies, is it too late to join this thread? Time has run away with me, can't believe I'm almost 18 weeks already!
A little bit about me, I'm due on 23rd October, already have 1 dd aged 2.4. I work part time as a primary school teacher and I'm permanently exhausted! That about covers it

MrsFish · 18/05/2007 18:41

Of course it isn't too late, welcome to the fold

HonorMatopoeia · 18/05/2007 18:42

Awh thanks MrsFish- looking forward to getting to know everyone!

PolarMummy · 18/05/2007 18:44

Hello everyone, you have been a busy lot these past couple of days, its taken me a while to catch up but as I love a good read its has put a smile on my face.

Hello FloriaTosca and welcome to the thread, glad you decided to post and like other people have said I hope this is a very uneventful pregnancy for you.

I have a reflexology session booked for tomorrow evening and I am really looking forward to it, I have a sore back and it has been playing up a little bit so I am hoping the reflexology might be able to help with this.

Hope you all have a great weekend and that everyone is starting to feel better soon.

PolarMummy · 18/05/2007 18:48

HonorMatopoeia hello and welcome, sorry I missed you from my last post as I said it took a while to catch up so I didn't see your post!

alicet · 18/05/2007 19:09

Hi Honormatopeia (sorry if I spelt that wrong!!!!) and welcome!

Can't believe your work are giving you gip ejt and nezi is absolutely right that you are entitled to any time off you need for antenatal care. Your employers can ask to provide proof which can just be a letter or appointment card from the hospital but you are entitled to it - even for stuff like antenatal classes so physio is well in there!

Polarmummy - hope you enjoy your reflexology tomorrow and that it helps your back.

I am out tomorrow night at a friend's hen night but at the mo can't imagine how I'm not going to fall asleep in my dinner! Certainly will be home before the dancing!Used to be quite a party girl before ds and now bed at 21.30 is pretty normal!! The joys of parenthood and pregnancy!! Still wouldn't change it for the world....

Dh has popped out for fish and chips a little while ago - really feel like some stodgy food - so off to tidy the chaos that ds has created. Hope you all have lovely weekends and look after yourselves...

alicet · 18/05/2007 19:10

HonorMatopoeia sorry really messed up the spelling last time!!!! Only got that by cutting and pasting - too much for my babybrain!

HonorMatopoeia · 18/05/2007 19:15

Hi alicet and polarmummy (please don't worry about the spelling, it's hardly the easiest chatname! Shortens well to HMP I find!) I'm going to spend the night reading through this thread in order to see where everyone is! Wish me luck, could take me a while!

hi everyone, just popping in to say hi, i have read everyones posts, but 5 seconds after, i can't remember who said what, i'm so forgetful at the moment!

bless you all those, whose dp's are away, i don't have that problem

however, i have got my male friend upstairs stripping woodchip wallpaper in the nursery for me , i tried to help but he said i'm in the way, so going to have to find something else to do

have been feeling a lot brighter the last couple of days, i don't know if the iron has finally been kicking in, or if i'm still buzzing from the scan on tues, mrsfish, are you feeling kind of weird, now that you know for sure(ish) what your having? in fact, is anyone else still a bit in disbelief that they're actually having a baby?

or am i just losing it?

anyway, am going to go upstairs and lurk, will catch up properly later.

hope everyone has a nice weekend
