well needed to start new thread, sorry if title is rubish (refers to the chinese new year) if people aren't keen, we can do another one!

well i went to boots, but they didn't have any, apparantly the store wasn't big enough, so went to McDonalds instead!

going to try and order from the website, only want a little starter pack to have a nosy, as i only intend to use them when i'm at home not out and about.

honeyapple, will let you know what type they are and good luck with maureen

glad to here all is well pheebe

greedy, looks like you are the winner so far don't worry, 'll catch up soon enough, especially if I keep eating like I have been

If it makes you feel any better I am only 5ft 3 and at the moment weigh 12st 9 pound very hefty maybe I ought to start eating more veg rather than bread

alicet · 19/05/2007 06:11

J20 - glad to hear you're feeling better! Thats great!

Nezi - sorry to hear your missing your dh so much. Not much longer to go now though...

We're too off for a week from next weekend. Going to france for a week with my parents as its my dad's 60th. Get on with them really well as does my dh so should be great. Plus my sister and her dh are over from new zealand so it will be great to see her.

My mil over next week to help with ds while he's poorly so dh and i can go to work. I can second the fact that i wouldn't want her here for 3 weeks though! She is great with ds and i get on with her pretty well but still don't feel 100% relaxed. Always enjoy her company more than i expect though!

Can't believe ds got me up at 5.30 this am!!!! Would rather be up through the night several times but get longer in the am - I am SO not a morning person!

alicet · 19/05/2007 06:16

J20 - just seen on your profile you're a single mum! Bloody hell and here's all us wingeing about dp's being away!!! My hat goes off to you - really don't know how single mums do it but I guess the answer is that you love your dc's and would do anything for them. Good on you. (hope you don't think this sounds patronising - really isn't intended like that - just have been in awe of single mums ever since ds was born and I realised how hard it is being a parent...)

i think we should keep a weekly account of our waist sizes!.......someone has to overtake me soon!..................i notice kezza never did put hers down!.............

buffythenappyslayer21 · 19/05/2007 09:46

morning all.hvent read all the posts since last visit...you lot have been so chatty!!

feeling abit better today,so hoping the antibiotics have started to kick in.

hi to another newbie!

snap with those that keep bursting into tears!i cry at the stupidest of things, and if dh says something to me i tend to take it the wrong way!bloody hormones!was watching holby the other night with connies baby,i was blubbing away, especially as theyve called her grace and thats the middle name we have ready if its a girl!

sorry for those still suffering with sickness,at the moment can sympathise with you,but mines not ms anymore..just a bug!
had hyperemesis with all my other pregnancies though, all the way through,so thats why i was suprised i havent had it the same this time round.

off to look at new cars today.weve got a fiat ulysee which is big enough for us now,but not for when baby comes.so dh wants to ahve a look at a vw transporter.he wants a 9 seat one instead of teh standard 8,and also wnats a long wheel base,so today is going to be soooooooooooooooooooooooo fun going from one car place to another.just hoping that the antibiotics are working and that i dont get caught short whilst out !

have a great weekend everyone!!!will catch up with all teh posts later!!xxx

J20BABY · 19/05/2007 11:31

buffy~my freind cried at the baby on holby too, and she's not even pg! although she does keep saying she's getting sympathy symptoms

alice ~ thanks, i quite like being on my own(most of the time) although its hard being pg on my own, but i have got all you lot, so thats better than any man

i'm doing my roots too, but not using foils, so i hope my hair doesn't go green!

i'm thinking about going for a drive to ikea today, to look at nursery furniture, there is a set that i like in argos but i suppose i should shop around.

hope everyone is having a nice day

i wrote it in pencil on a piece of paper and didn't read it properly.

your still winning though

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 19/05/2007 13:52

Well if you can all pluck up courage to measure your waists I'm sure I shouldnt shirk....but I'm not exactly petite to start with...size 16...well it's 42" now!!! No wonder nothing fits! Greedy you have a rival!!!

PolarMummy · 19/05/2007 14:46

Girls sorry it would depress me too much to measure my waist! I was about a size 20 to begin with so probably bigger then than most of you are now! Lets just say I would win hands down at the moment!

HonorMatopoeia · 19/05/2007 14:53

Hi ladies,I've searched the house for a tape measure with which to check my bumpsize but can't find one anywhere! I'll keep looking as I'm now quite intrigued to find out how big I am. I seem to have slowed down a little now- I grew very quickly in the earlier stages.
Just got back from our local hell hole shopping experience - went to try and buy one of those midway car seats which go from 9 months to 11 years. Dd is 2.4 and a tall lass, she is bursting out of her britax si. Unfortunately,my peugeot 206 must be the only car on the face of the planet that car seats do not fit into properly. None of this sort would fit correctly and the booster seats with backs that just use the seatbelt were literally just an inch too big for her. So now I'm faced with having to try and lug her in and out of her present seat, which really pullson me. Poor girl ahs tried to climb in by herself but the seat is so high up she can't manage it.
Quick question that's niggling me - how much movement did people feel at around 18 weeks? Every now and then I think 'yes, this is definite movement' but then I scare myself silly by not feeling anything fora few days. I had to be physically estrained by Dh from buying one of those doppler thingys today - we'd already decided I'd just worry myself more if I had one and couldn't find the heartbeat easily.

apologies for the hugely long, waffly post!

OK so I've added my bump size. 37 might not sound much but at 5 foot nothing and a size 10 I think it's pretty big! Def much bigger than I was last time!

buffy - I have to fess up too that I cried at holby city!! Bawled my eyes out in fact!

HMP - I only started feeling really definite movements at about 18 weeks. Now she/he wriggles all the time! Try not to worry - sure all is fine!

J20 - glad to hear we're better than men!

Anyway must go feed my ds now so catch up with you ladies later and enjoy your evening...

j20baby · 19/05/2007 18:25

i hate Ikea!

i drove 65 miles, got lost, they didn't have anything i wanted in stock, bloody ignorant people, and would you believe i went to the sales desk, and 2 sales girls where having a conversation, so i stood there waiting for them to help, and they moved round the corner to carry on talking, leaving me and another customer stood there gobsmacked!

so i ended up buying a safety gate that i didn't need so i didn't have a wasted journey.

i'm going out tonight, so i'm going to go try everything i own on, burst into tears and go out in a black bin liner, hope you all have a good night ladies

OP posts:
HonorMatopoeia · 19/05/2007 19:22

Oh J20, I feel your pain with Ikea. It's nowhere near such a long journey for me but it is a hideous one. They inevitably don't have anything in that I need either. I've also got a few things home to put them together and find a couple of vital pieces are missing, then you have to pack everyhting back up and take it all the way back grrrr . It's a shame it's so cheap really!
Hope you have a lovely night out, I'm sure you'll find something lovely to wear (but I know the feeling of trying everything on and bursting into tears!)

MrsFish · 19/05/2007 19:32

I have only really started feeling regular movements this past week and none, if any, at 18 weeks so don't worry

HonorMatopoeia · 19/05/2007 19:44

Thanks MrsF - think I'm justprogrammed to worry!

FloriaTosca · 19/05/2007 22:39

HMP
Dont worry, I'm 20 wks tomorrow and still dont feel much...or at least nothing that can be easily distinguished from the bowel trouble I've been suffering from for the last 6 weeks(sorry tmi)..and as I've had so many problems with my previous pregnancies my Dh bought me a doppler off e-bay which I have to say has been a real bloodpressure saver..it was difficult to find the heart beat at 14 weeks but at this stage it doesn't take more than a few seconds and brings me so such comfort now that I'm not getting fornightly scans (I know... spoiled ... but it was necessary with my previous history.. however withdrawal symptoms from the fortnightly fix are not easy to cope with).
hope your lo gives you a few more kicks to keep you reassured :-)

buffythenappyslayer21 · 20/05/2007 08:30

morning all!

polar i was a size 20 to begin with aswell, and my bump is now massive!!luckily i dont own a tapemeasure! so couldnt measure my waist even if i wanted to !!

floria ive got a doppler doodah off ebay aswell!its fab and so reassuring.i love it when lo starts kicking and all you hear are heavy thuds!!its fab!!

hmp i wouldnt worry too much,my cousin is 25 weeks pg and only started feeling her lo move at 21 weeks.if you do get worried though maybe you should ring your mw,she could ahve a listen for you and put your mind at rest.

alice these bleeding programme makers should think about us pg mums to be out there with hormones all over the place before they put things on tv that will make us cry!!!watched march of the penguins yesterday, and cried at that!!!sad i know, but it was when the mum and dad were swapping the egg from one to the other so the mum could go get food and the egg rolled away and broke.cried my eyes out!then when there was a storm and some of the baby penguins died, cried again!sodding hormones have a lot to answer for!will stick to dh's fave programmes me thinks.....cars,bikes and police ones!will probably still find something to cry about!!

saw my pg neighbour last night, she thought i was around 6 months gone by the size of my bump!!shes a tiny size 10 with a bump like shes put a ball under her top, very round and neat.shes only about 5ft aswell.shes due in 13 weeks, and i felt like a beached whale next to her!!

anyway, woke up this morning with a nosebleed from hell, thought theyd finished but obviously not.at least my tums feeling better now thanks to the anti biotics.

oh well, can hear dh getting up with dd so better go.have a great day everyone!!

honeyapple · 20/05/2007 09:22

Bloomin' 'eck! What a lot I've missed over ONE day... this thread is never this busy!
Just going to find a tape measure...

honeyapple · 20/05/2007 09:28

Well- my waist isnt that big- cos my bump is like below my waist...so my bump measurement is bigger...34"

BTW nobody in RL believes that I am PG when I tell them. Hoping that I will have a sudden expansion when I hit 20 wks...
Dont forget Greedy- I am 4 whole weeks behind you.

MrsFish · 20/05/2007 11:11

Mine has only really expanded drastically in the last month, I am 21 weeks today. Measured waist again and I have gone up to 40 and a half in the spece of a week
