hi all

sorry to those feeling so crap. I am loads more tired than I was first time round, but atributing this to having a toddler as well. I do get out of breath quicker though and the tiredness is more extreme. I would second that a trip to the gp is a good idea if you really dont feel right. My gp was really good last time and even though my iron count was not low enough to officially be classed as anaemic, she said they treated the individual and not the result and she prescribed me some iron tablets.

If we are talking big bumps I reckon mine is pretty impressive. Im starting to take on the look of a weeble. I am going to measure my waist tonight and will post it tomorrow. I dont understand how the baby is still low down but my bump starts from under my boobs!!

karlou · 17/05/2007 16:07

Mumpbump - I saw my GP today as I've been feeling the same way as you. She suggested I might have a virus as the immune system isn't as good when you're pg. My dd's are 8 & 5 so not as exhausting as running after toddlers. She's taken blood samples to check for anaemia and also my thyroid function. I've been feeling excessively thirsty too and as I'm usually the sort of person who forgets to drink she's testing my blood glucose levels although the urine dipstick was negative for that (it was still +ve for blood though!)
I'm seeing the m/w for my 16 week check tomorrow and she may have some results then (should also get the results of my triple test) - I'll let you know. If I were you I'd go and see someone - nobody is going to think you're wasting their time, after all enough people go with colds and sore throats demanding antibiotics don't they? If you feel awful you're entitled to get it checked for your peace of mind if nothing else.

Mumpbump · 17/05/2007 16:35

Right, will take myself off to the doctor's open surgery tomorrow!

Does anyone else find them become amazingly indecisive whilst pg? Last time, I decided to knit a blanket for the baby and had to ring dh from the shop to ask for his opinion on wool he couldn't see and I couldn't describe properly!!

Evening all ... just popping in to say hi - not in tonight - going to the Ascension Day sung mass at church - then bed.

However, must just have a rant!!

Am - have had a message from the obstetric physio who works at our local hospital - and she hasn't actually received my physio referral! She also has spaces to see women at the moment - and there is no waiting list!
She has appointments next Wednesday, and has suggested that I phone my midwife and request a referral which I can bring with me when I come for an appointment.
I'm to ring her back next Tuesday as she's no in now until then, and we can book an appointment for next Wednesday or Thursday.

Have just rung to surgery to make an appointment with the midwife for next Monday - I'm going to sit with her and request (rather forcibly) hat she writes it while I sit there.

Am tamping!!

Have a good evening all!

MrsFish · 17/05/2007 18:27

I have had two vivid dreams this last week... first one was getting very intimate with another woman :yikes:

The second was a really horrible nightmare, I was being terrorised by a woman who was threatening ds, the bit that woke me up was when leaving the police station where I had reported her, I was on my way to pick up ds from the creche. When I walked in, the room was all black and tore apart like a bomb had gone off and ds was standing in the room in just his nappy, screaming with his skin bright red and blistering and I couldn't cuddle him because he was so badly burnt. Never had a nightmare so bad before, I just couldn't go back to sleep and was inconsolable for over an hour.

Hope to god I have no more like that

Evening all!

Well, today was meant to be my first day back at work after a week off following my contraction type pains. All well and good until ds's nursery called at 11 to say he had chickenpox!! Sure my colleagues think I never do any work! Thankfully dh was able to pick him up and I left at lunchtime to take over as I had a quiet afternoon. mil coming to the rescue next week - would be so so much easier if we had family nearby! Ds seems fine at the mo although I have been warned he might get worse...

Asur - fab chinese gender chart! According to it I am having a girl which I suspect as my pregnancy has been totally different this time. However it also said that my ds should have been a girl so we'll see at my scan on Monday!

J2O - managed to check up about iron today and it can cause stomach pains, diarrhoea and constipation. Apparently the pains can be related to the dose so if you cut down might get better. But obviously that will lower your blood count - I would say if it persists to check with your midwife what they advise.

Mumpbump - I will add my voice to everyone else here and say get a blood test. Its cheap and easy and if you are anaemic iron tabs will make you feel a lot better so it will be well worth it. Apricott is right that all your symptoms could be due to pregnancy too but there's no point putting up with it if there's a problem you can correct.

Buffy - glad your ds made such a good recovery after his accident and glad too you think surgeons are great!! Sure we're not all the time but I'm happy to let you think it!! Glad too he's fine after his recent accident. Great news.

Kezza - my bump is under my boobs too! And its only meant to be up to my belly button by dates! Oh well - apparently you show much earlier and more prominently the second time round and its nothing to do with me stuffing my face....

Ejt - what a pain about the physio - you could have been having it all along! Still at least it is sorted now and fingers crossed it does some good!

Hello everyone else - hope all is well with you x

alicet · 17/05/2007 18:44

mrs fish - that sounds like an awful nightmare! Fingers crossed for no more... I have been hainv gvivid dreams too although so far they just seem to be inappropriate sexual ones about people I do NOT fancy which is very strange!

Just seen how long my last post was!!!! Sorry! My attention span is like a goldfish at the mo - not sure I could have read it all in one sitting!!!!!

honeyapple · 17/05/2007 20:07

What a horrid dream Mrsfish- yikes that would have kept me awake for hours. I have had a few that have woken me up- one with a man carrying around a decapitated baby- nice.

Karlou- we have DC similar ages- I have an 8 yr old DS and a DD who will be 5 in December. How do you feel about 'starting again'? I havent got any baby stuff- gave it all away. If you dont mind me asking- was this baby planned? People keep asking me this- and seem surprised when I say YES! (My other 2 were not planned however!)

Most of you sound like you work- anyone else stay at home? I stopped working when I had number 2.

MrsFish · 17/05/2007 20:12

I stay at home, gave up work with ds, and yes I feel incredibly lucky to be in the position to be able to do so

betsycoe · 18/05/2007 08:50

I'm glad everyone else is getting strange dreams. I thought mine had stopped but last night I had one that my DH had decided to breed show dogs and I came home to find the back garden full of pampered pooches!

So what was the verdict Kezza? By bump also seems to be huge so I thought I'd dig out the tape measure. My 'waist' has gone up 7" to 39" . I'm 20+4 so I'm going to be huge by the end!!

Mumpbump · 18/05/2007 09:57

Morning all!

I had a horrible dream last night where I was waiting for dh in his car, was abducted by a horrible looking man who tried to rape me and, when I resisted, killed me instead. Lovely! Woke up before ds who wouldn't let us dress him in his sleepsuit. I think he's copying dh in refusing to wear pj's!

I would love to stay at home with ds for a year or so, but have to work as he wasn't planned so our lifestyle was already geared to a dual income. Think my income will pay for the childcare when there are two as dh is already supporting his ex and two other dc...

Remembered I have a day off next Friday for a wedding in the afternoon so will pop to the doc's in the morning.

I think you get a bump high up as well because your baby bump pushes everything up out of your abdominal cavity!

Good luck to Alicet, Ejt, Greedy and Kitti for their scans next week! 2-1 to the boys so far!!

betsycoe - just measured mine too after your post, I am the same as you 39inches.

Tried looking for my diary of when I had ds to see how big I went up to, because I remember taking all my measurements the night before I went in to labour, but I can't find it anywhere, very annoying.

betsycoe · 18/05/2007 12:24

MrsFish - I think we are due about the same time so maybe the little ones are a similar size? Saying that I think I've added a few extra inches of junk food induced blubber, so I can't blame the baby for all of the increase .

I've been meaning to add myself to the scan list for a while so here it is...

I was absolutely determined not to find out the sex at the scan but I'm weakening!! I think I'll let fate decide and find out if they get a good view!

FloriaTosca · 18/05/2007 12:25

Hello
I've been lurking round the board for a while and just plucked up courage to say HI. It is wonderful so read all your postings and realise that I'm not the only one going through all these things!!!
I'm 19wks +5 today...still paranoid since losing my last little one (a little girl;Robyn)last September at 17 wks gestation (following 5 previous miscarrages all before 12 wks).
Like EJB1976 I have balanced chormosomal translocation which accounted for the 5 early m/c, but Robyns loss was due to a previously undiscovered blood clotting disorder which was triggered by having an amniocentesis test. Ironically the test proved that Robyn would have been fine. Needless to say we have not had an amnio for this one, I'd rather have a child with a disability than risk losing another healthy one,(I'm too old now to have many more chances of being a Mum) though we did have a partial nuchal scan done (the blood test part apparently would not work for me because of my translocation)but the nuchal fold was thin and the nasal bone prominent and growth was exceptional for that stage of development so we are trusting to luck (we are due a change in it) and the 20 wk anomaly scan next Wednesday 23rd.
Meanwhile despite needing daily injections of heparin (I'm thinking of forming a "big blue belly" club)to keep my blood from clotting, a slightly scary dose of thrush at 14 wks (had a show and got terrified that I was m/cing again), slightly low blood pressure and extreme triedness, a mild case of sciatica and nightmares (usually about m/cing) it appears, especially as most of you appear to be suffering the same things,(which is very reassuring) that everything is going just fine!!!! (smile)
Nezi I know just how you feel about DH going away, mine went to Sth Africa to work for 2 weeks on Monday...I hate being alone, especially at night just now....he's not even going to be back in time for the 20wk scan! I'm going to have to take my mother (Hmm) which could be a mixed blessing... we'll just have to wait and see.
Well I've gabbed for long enough.Like Nezi I'm off to walk the dog (in the rain). Looking forward to chatting to you all.
FT

hi everyone.

been to see my gp,as still got the runs after 4 days.he said ive got entiritus (sp?)and that the cramps ive been getting are an inflamed bowel/intestine.got him to look at my mole.he gave it a really strange name and said its harmless,so i can relax now!its still itchy, but i'll try my best not to scratch!

he felt my bump,by my scan date im 8 days less,so by their dates im 18 weeks.he said my bump is more 19+ weeks (thats what im going by,my dates)he said all seems to be going well with pregnancy, and that im to try to rest more, and eat more.but whilst got the runs,to carry on eating bland food and drink plenty of water.hes given me erythromycin to take.

hi to the newbie,so sorry about your daughter and your mc's.

alicet · 18/05/2007 13:51

Hi all!

Buffy glad to hear everything ok with mole and cramps - hopefully now you have antibiotics they will settle.

Hi Floria - really sorry to hear about all you have been through - it sounds like a nightmare. Fingers crossed though that all will be ok this time....

Know how you all feel about dh's being away. In June mine is away for a couple of weekends and I'm dreading it! he also might now miss my scan on monday as we don't have anyone to look after our ds with chickenpox. Feeling it would be a bit irresponsible to inflict that on a roomfull of pregnant women who might not have had it. All our mates who don't work on Mondays have small children. Will have to try think of something....

Apricott · 18/05/2007 14:56

Hello everyone

Welcome Floria. So sorry to hear of your losses . You are indeed due a change of luck.

It took me a while to join in too adn I still feel fairly new around here. Haven't really ventured much further than this group. Was reading a thread this morning which raised a few questions - I've worked out bumping and flaming but does anyone know what 'trip trap' means and is 'troll' some sort of MN code or am I just being thick? Any seasoned MNers care to enlighten me?

I'd be interested in my 'waist' measurement at the moment too, but can't find the tape measure (let alone my waist)! Maybe it will show up in the 'great house clean up' I've got planned for the weekend . MIL coming to stay at the end of next week. For three weeks! From New Zealand. I've never met her before except on-line. Thought we should try to get the place reasonably presentable to mark the occasion! DD and DH will be delighted

Mumpbump · 18/05/2007 14:58

I have no idea what flaming is, but a troll is someone who posts something (usually inflammatory) in order to provoke a reaction and wind people up and "trip trap" is what some people type when they are saying they suspect the poster in question is a troll.

What is flaming?

Apricott · 18/05/2007 15:16

From Wikipaedia: Flaming is the act of sending or posting messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting, usually in the social context of a discussion board on the Internet.
