buffythenappyslayer21 · 15/05/2007 16:54

j20-weve been looking on the comet website and have chosen the ones we want.am very excited about having new shiney things to play with!!

J20BABY · 15/05/2007 16:59

kezza~ good luck with tommorrow, are you finding out then?

your going to have to now, to see if its girls or boys in front

re; names

i have on my list;

India
Anya
Kadie
and dd wants Lily
although, i still don't know what last name she's going to have i haven't bothered letting the sperm donor know, as he's made it quite clear he's not interested, am trying to hold myself back from texting his mother, although i did get my friend to give her a quick call on sunday, to try and work out if she know, she didn't seem shocked, but she hasn't bothered getting in touch with me either, oh well her loss, and i've got plenty of other people to tell

OP posts:
buffythenappyslayer21 · 15/05/2007 17:04

j20-love india and lily (india lily??)they are both lovely names.

we (and i mean me,dh couldnt be bothered what he/she is called!) like

for a girl;maddison grace,or skye grace

and for a boy;harrison paul

ive got 2 baby name books, but there are far too many nice names to choose from,so im trying to keep away from the books and stick with the names i like!

Mumpbump · 15/05/2007 17:06

Okay, I've got to post our names now so no-one thinks I'm copying them... Elinor Margaret (I think) Wilkie if a girl and Alexander or Richard James Wilkie. Wilkie is my mother's maiden name and there is a Scottish tradition that the mother's maiden name is taken as a middle name so my poor dc will both end up with 4 names!!!

Tallis · 15/05/2007 17:08

Fantastic news all round so far today - new cars, new freezers, new faces and best of all a new boy and girl. Rainbow and Colin. Ahem. Congratulations one and all.

buffy, just on that warranty thing - could you not point out that those extended warranty schemes (esp as run by Dixons or whatever trendy name they now call themselves) have been well and truly discredited as being incredibly overpriced and unnecessary? I think there was an official report about them which pretty much advised consumers to steer well clear. Think they accounted for most of Dixons profits in one recent year which shows who they were really benefiting - shop rather than customer! Hang on, will try to find a link.

J20BABY · 15/05/2007 17:10

buffy, i nearly said Maddison, as i like Maddie, but its quite common round here, i still like my dd,s name (Leoni) wish i could use that again

OP posts:
MrsFish · 15/05/2007 17:12

Names - We are going for Benjamin (to be known mainly as Ben) and Wheeldon (odd I now)as a middle name (family name on DH's side).

greedygreedyguzzler · 15/05/2007 17:13

everyone seems sooooooooooooooooo much happier today! HURRAH!!!!
good luck tomorrow kezza

alicet · 15/05/2007 17:16

Hi all!

Wow what a lot of exciting news! Great to hear everyone sounding so upbeat today! The excitement about scans is infectious isn't it? Mine is a week yesterdsay and I can't wait.... Congrats to J2O and Mrs Fish - delighted your scans went well and that you were able to find out the sex! I too will be gutted if they can't see!

Good luck to kezza for your scan tomorrow and great news your consultant appointment went well. Will look forward to hearing all about your scan...

Welcome to karlou and nezi - I've only been on here about a week but everyones been really welcoming so hope you find it great too! Really sorry to hear about your awful experience with your dd nezi - it must make you very anxious at this time but sure everything will be fine this time - it certainly sounds like they're keeping a close eye on you.

Buffy - great news about the family fund! After all the hassle with your house its great that somethings going well! Enjoy shopping!

Gemma - hope everything is going ok and that you managed to get seen at epau. Hope they were able to reassure you all is well...

I've got my annual appraisal at work tomorrow then hopefully a nice relaxing day. My dh has taken the day off to look after ds while I'm doing that, then we're going to visit a friend who has a new daughter! Then back to work on Thurs after a week off with the pains I was having - they have continued but not so bad and I'm very reassured now that they are just braxton hicks and I'm a drama queen. Still you can't be too careful can you....

Hello too to everyone else I haven't mentioned but I have to go and collect my little boy from nursery now so better not be late chatting! Plus this post is already far too long!

Tallis · 15/05/2007 17:16

Buffy, the Office of Fair Trading did a report in 2003 (going back a bit, but still the principle's the same) slagging off extended warranties. And the Consumer Association called htem a "complete ripoff". Here (i hope) a link to a telegraph article:

warranties

good luck in saving your 250-odd quid!

alicet · 15/05/2007 17:19

lovely names too! We like Ben for a boy but our surname begins with T so he would be BenT - not great! We really struggle with boys names. For girls we like Amy and Chloe - nothing very unusual but we really like them and don't know others with the same name....

Anyway really must stop getting sucked into the chat and get my ds! Bye for now!!!

buffythenappyslayer21 · 15/05/2007 17:26

tallis-thank you so much for the link.jsut read it to dh,think i might print it off and if the family say we definately have to get the warranties,i'll send them that!

WinnieThePooh · 15/05/2007 17:31

We have boys name in mind and DP says that he has also thought of a girls name, but I don't know what it is yet.

I had to be careful with DD's initials as we have given here my surname as a 2nd middle (R)name, and DP's surname.(D)In the end we went for Lauren Elizabeth (LERD), but I had liked Ann for a middle name. The only problem with that is her initials would have spelt L A R D

Tallis · 15/05/2007 17:52

...and you really have to be careful with initials. Friends of mine called their dd Harriet Imogen Varley. duh!!!

Pheebe · 15/05/2007 17:58

OO lovely, names...

We've got Rebecca Phoebe or Rebecca Grace for a girl. Struggling for a boys name though. I always liked Ben but we already have a Ben in the family

Tallis · 15/05/2007 18:00

Buffy, me again - really got the bit between my teeth now. here's much more up-to-date and good clear advice from the BBC website just last month. all advising that you don't just take the store's offer (assuming the money men insist you buy warranties at all) because by shopping around you can prob get a better deal on new gear.

Evening all ... just popping in to say Hi!!

Am completely useless tonight, so am going to bad as soon as I've had a shower!

Just want to say hi to new people ... to say good luck to Kezza for scan tomorrow .... and fab news!! to j20 and mumpbump.

also to add my thoughts on names - I'm in charge of choosing girls' name this time ... going for Mairwen Angharad Siwan (or Mairwen Siwan Angharad) ... as our surname is T - M A S T for a set of initials? Would rather leave out Siwan, but it's Welsh form of mil's name, and as ds has my dad's name as his middle name, I just know she'd play her face if we didn't use hers for a dd. Also have to avoid all names beginning with E - ET anybody?

Going to have a shower and collapse now ... goonight!

PolarMummy · 15/05/2007 19:16

Kezza good luck for tomorrow I hope it all goes well for you.
