Chin up makeitpink. Just smile and you'll be gorgeous (though I know how you feel).

makeitpink · 09/12/2017 18:08

Thanks @SylvesterTheCat I am doing Hair and makeup and No one will be looking at me. Just hate the annoying stage where you don't look pregnant but you aren't the size you used to be! X

3boysandoneontheway · 09/12/2017 22:00

I hate that stage too @makeitpink I'm 11 weeks and I'm sporting a much rounder waistline that's proving difficult to keep hidden from people who don't yet know the news. I hope you had a very enjoyable evening out and felt beautiful all night long x

makeitpink · 09/12/2017 23:33

We had a lovely evening. Although the other half who is muxhly enjoying not driving is now being 🤢 tomorrow will not be fun!!

@lulu298 @ClareB83 @orangesaretheonly @sleeeeeepy

Firstly congratulations on your wedding Clare!

It's our first anniversary at the end of January and we've been talking about going away somewhere, but we haven't decided on anything yet.
Under consideration are:

Canaries
DH is keen, and it's somewhere we haven't been together before. I just haven't seen anything that makes me think "yes, definitely want to go there". We're not beach people at all, and that does seem to be the main attraction.

Morocco
We've been to Marrakesh twice and really enjoyed it. We'd kinda like to do something different for our last holiday with just the two of us though. Also we normally eat all sorts of street food etc and we'd have to be a bit more cautious than usual, which would be a shame. If you just want sun and a nice hotel, it's worth considering. The weather should be good there too. Not sure about healthcare - just in case...

Madeira
We went here a couple of years ago in June and really liked it. Did loads of walking (some routes were a bit hairy, don't think I'd be as confident doing them with a bump) ate loads of fish and enjoyed the local drinks (will miss that if we go back). The temperature would be ok, but might be a bit wet in Jan/Feb.

Would love to hear where you're considering and why. Any destinations or considerations we've totally forgotten about?

We're also considering visiting DH's family in April (I'll be 32/33 weeks) for BIL's b'day. We usually go for DH's b'day but that's at 39 weeks. It's about a 4hr journey, tube/train/local train.

What would your journey be like for your staycation at 35 weeks sleepy? Would it be a nice relaxing holiday? Is there a maternity unit nearby, just in case. I'd talk to your midwife at the 16 week appt and see what their advice is. I think you can fly up until 36 weeks, so somewhere in the U.K. is probably ok, but this is my first pregnancy, so I don't really know!

However this is where it really gets interesting... A good friend has just told us to save the date for her wedding. It's 4 days before my due date! I really want to go, even if just for the church service. We don't have a car and it's a >2hr trek on public transport. As it stands I don't think we're likely to be able to go, but if I can find a way...

Elpheba · 10/12/2017 21:38

I'm going to Barcelona in April at 30 weeks for 5 days. I'll make sure I have super good travel insurance- must look into it soon actually- but I can't wait as we're going to see my bestie who will have just had her baby. My only concern is blood clots as more prone to them when pregnant/flying but I'm going to be very active on the plane and might ask midwife about taking aspirin over the trip just to be safe.

ClareB83 · 10/12/2017 21:51

Get good compression socks that fit and get your EHIC card for healthcare.

@Alice0906 if this is your First baby I wouldn't hold out too much hope on baby arriving on it's due date. In my experience most first babies are late. Also could you hire a car for the wedding? Or go with other guests? Public transport may be quite uncomfortable in the last few weeks.

Anyone else having really odd dreams?? Last night I dreamt I was giving birth to bottles of wine!!! And that my partner wasn't there cause he had to take the dog to kennels?!

Orangesaretheonly · 11/12/2017 08:17

@Alice0906

We might end up booking somewhere in the UK, I am not the most confident flyer anyway so god knows what I'll be like when pregnant! And that time of year March/April the weather in Europe isn't guaranteed to be nice! And there are so many lovely parts of the UK to see! Might try and convince the husband that a lovely spa hotel will be a good idea! (Off to browse the internet for possible options!)

sausagerollsrock · 11/12/2017 08:29

I'm off to New York at the end of Jan. I will be 23 weeks. Started to think it was a bit mad of me thinking I could trek around New York at almost 6 months pregnant. Excited to go back though with a bump as me and Dh got engaged there in 2015.

Mummyloves09 · 11/12/2017 08:52

Good morning ladies,

Unfortunately I was suppose to be going to new York in January however my partner has begged me to postpone as he is unable to attend due to term time job (plus he is very nervous about this pregnancy). So looks like my next holiday will be post pregnancy 😣

Yes I have been having weird dream last night I dreamt I was just bleeding and it wouldn't stop.

Plus I'm really nervous about the possible outcome of my internal scan on 18th due to a compulsory medical procedure I had last year.

I hope everyone is feeling well and has a great week 😊

ClareB83 · 11/12/2017 09:24

That's a shame @Mummyloves09 but NY in January would have been freezing. Maybe best enjoyed without a bump?

My weekend was good but I am so hormonal. I thought it was supposed to calm down in the second trimester but that does not seem to be the case. Maybe it's the twins thing?

ElizabethLemon · 11/12/2017 13:51

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing well.

I had an appointment at the antenatal clinic to check my BP etc today. I had to take my 6yo as he was off school and the midwife very kindly did a quick scan so he could see the baby ☺️.

@ClareB83 I am very hormonal too, there’s been quite a few tears over the last couple of days. We got a letter this morning from the dogs trust to say that the dog my ds sponsors had died. I couldn’t stop sobbing it was awful! My husband is away in NYC until Friday which doesn’t help, every time he rings I start crying it’s ridiculous!

ClareB83 · 11/12/2017 14:03

I'm normally pretty capable - done some pretty high stress jobs in the past, death threats etc without being bothered at all. So crying at every little thing is getting a bit wearing. I honestly don't know how my OH is still being so sympathetic.

God knows what I'll be like on my wedding day. I think a speech is out of the question, I'll just blub.

@Alice0906 I'd be quite happy for you to say that you'll come to the wedding if you can and try and organise a lift for you. First babies are normally late. I have two couples who are coming subject to when they give birth. It's a buffet which makes it easier to be flexible, but still I think we'd understand.

ClareB83 · 11/12/2017 14:06

@ElizabethLemon that's lovely your DC got to see the scan. So far only me and OH have been at scans, but we will have so many I think it might be nice to see if my mum can come to one of them.

Also sorry @sausagerollsrock I didn't spot that you were off to NY. I was trying to make @Mummyloves09 feel better, plus I'm a wuss in the snow. OH rules out everywhere that might be snowy for our honeymoon as he knows what a clutz I am.

Sleeeeeepy · 11/12/2017 16:21

@sausagerollsrock I went to Dubrovnik at 24 weeks last time, had a a really lovely time with lots of walking up and down all the steps! Made up for all the nice food I was guzzling!

sausagerollsrock · 11/12/2017 16:47

Ah what a shame mummy maybe a trip for the future.
That's ok clare Smile like I said I must admit im beginning to doubt my decision to go. When we booked it though, I just couldn't imagine getting that far into a pregnancy (sounds so silly now but was very negative after my mmc). Luckily as we've been before, we will be able to take it a bit easy.
That's good to hear sleeeeeepy i must admit I'm feeling pretty healthy and people are saying I look well that's a first haha
so hopefully It'll be a good trip.
I had my 16 week mw appt today and got to hear babies heartbeat. Just felt relief when I heard it. Also had the quad blood test today so hopefully will have the results soon! Pregnancy is so nerve wracking.

usernamegoeshere · 11/12/2017 16:53

clareB I'm hormonal as anything, which is strange as I wasn't too bad until the last week or so! Getting really anxious now that's it's been so long since my scan, there's no MW 16 week here either so no chance to get a listen. Hopefully with Christmas time should fly by to 20 week scan!

Alice0906 · 11/12/2017 18:43

@Elpheba that sounds fantastic! It must be lovely being pregnant at the same time as your friend.
Barcelona is a good idea for a city break too. Flight isn't too long and the weather should be better than at home!

@makeitpink
Hiring a car is a possibility. We're also planning on moving house in a year or so and would buy a car then, so it might be worth considering just buying a car a bit earlier than planned. There's also the possibility of staying with my parents, they have a car and are about 45 mins drive away from where the wedding is being held. I haven't given up yet!

I was born 11 days late - so maybe this little bean will follow my example! I guess the key thing will be to ensure whatever plans we make are flexible!

@ClareB83
I'm going to wait and see how things pan out for now. My friend is incredibly stressed as her reception venue has just fallen through, so at the moment it's all a bit uncertain! Once she has a better idea what's happening we'll see. I'm sure she'll try to be flexible with us.

@orangesaretheonly
You're right, there are lots of lovely places to visit in the U.K.! We are planning on investigating some of them in future years rather than flying anywhere with young children. The other possibility is Eurostar if you live somewhere with good rail connections. I can understand you not wanting to fly.

@sausagerollsrock
New York sounds great, and it will be lovely to go back to somewhere special to you. Everything I've read says the second trimester is a really good time to travel, so I'm sure it will be fine.

I haven't had any weird dreams or been particularly hormonal. In fact, I can barely tell I'm pregnant. I have a tiny little bump, but can still wear normal clothes. It feels like this must be the lull before the storm! I appreciate all the warnings of what to expect when the storm hits though!

makeitpink · 11/12/2017 18:49

I'm not too bad hormone wise. A bit cranky but I think that's mainly tiredness!! Just heading into the second trimester so hopefully that will settle down a bit. Had my b12 jab today so hopefully that will help too. We are off to Disney land tomorrow (in Paris) and I am super excited. Although a bit sad that I won't be able to go on all the rides!!

SylvesterTheCat · 12/12/2017 09:37

Haven't been sick once this pregnancy and this morning I was belching violently over the toilet bowl 🤢
Isn't it a bit weird for morning sickness to first show its nasty face in week 14? I don't think it's a tummy bug because I feel fine otherwise.

Mummyloves09 · 12/12/2017 10:01

@sylvesterthecat Im not to sure when it can appear however I hope you feel better soon. I know it's not a fun experience belching and nausea.

makeitpink · 12/12/2017 11:32

@SylvesterTheCat could you have eaten something that disagrees with you? I thing sickness can come at any point. Mine went away and is now back!!! Thanksfeel better

SylvesterTheCat · 12/12/2017 13:17

Thank you makeitpink and mummyloves09. Haven't been sick since this morning but I'm grazing on water crackers whenever I feel it coming on again and I managed to have a normal sized lunch. Hoping today is just a one-off.

jemk83 · 12/12/2017 14:07

Hey everyone,

Jumping on here from the previous two threads! How's everyone's sickness going? Mine has been awful since 5 and a half weeks but feeling like I might just be starting to turn a corner. (I'm 12+2) Still being sick but can move my eyes and head now and managing slightly more food! Anyone been dreadful and now feel 100%? I'm really fed up of being housebound and just want to start enjoying being pregnant! Please tell me there's hope??!!
