My EDD is 1st June (a Friday) so I was planning on going off the Friday before (office job).

But with twins they'll induce at 36-37 weeks if I haven't had them already. So I think I'll still take off a week beforehand which might mean finishing in April or first week of May. Seems so soon!

My due date is 10th and I was thinking 1st June, with 2 weeks leave before hand. I have a 4 hour daily commute though and everyone is telling me I won't last!

Mummyloves09 · 20/01/2018 09:29

My commute is a 20min drive there and 30min from work. So not to bad.
Yes so technically I will be done on 25th may with my one week annual leave prior to mat leave (3rd june). Ok I feel good knowing that everyone is going on leave as late as possible (I'm not the only one 😊).

RockinRobinTweets · 20/01/2018 09:41

I’m planning on finishing at 35/36 weeks, can’t wait!

SparklesandBubbles · 20/01/2018 10:35

Hi ladies
I'm due end of May (26th) so wondered if I could join this chat group. I'm a second time mum - have a DS age 2 and 2month. Hope everyone is feeling good - I'm feeling a bit exhausted at the moment. Not quite sure where all the 'feeling amazing second trimester hormones' have gone to!

ElizabethLemon · 20/01/2018 10:46

Welcome @SparklesandBubbles!

I’m due on the 4th which is a Monday so I’ll start my ML then but I’m saving my leave up and planning to take the whole of May as annual leave. Our leave cycle starts again on the 1st of April so it makes sense.

usernamegoeshere · 20/01/2018 11:13

I'm due on the 1st but having a cs at 39 weeks, with saved annual leave I'm planning to go off around 33 weeks since I'd like to spend some extra time with my dd before she starts school anyways, with her I had to go to work when she was 4 months old (& was applying for jobs from when she was 10 weeks!) so an extended period at home with her is overdue!

Cookie1831 · 20/01/2018 11:15

I was thinking of going off at 36/37 weeks and having a couple of weeks of chilling before bub comes fingers crossed x

Heregoeseverything · 20/01/2018 14:48

Anyone else hungry all the time? I gather I'm only supposed to eat an additional 200 calories, but can't find any info on how to fit 2 bags of crisps, 2 bananas and 4 slices of peanut butter on toast into 200 calories?

I've started getting crazy childbirth dreams already. Last night I dreamt I had twins - one of them had hidden for all of the scans (and blood test?) - and one of the first things I did was rush onto Mumsnet to tell @ClareB83 Grin

Shutupanddance1 · 20/01/2018 14:57

Heregoeseverything - I’m hungry all the time. I’m not particularly worried about eating too much as all my weight fell off after having DD1 and BF.

I’m SAHM but I’ve put my DD in nursery 3 mornings a week so I’ve a bit of me time before new baby comes. Tbh - I was exhausted and have pre eclampsia last time so was on bed rest from 35 weeks. Not sure how I would have coped working too close to my due date.

Feeling lots more little kicks now - so lovely! DD who is 18 months is starting to come and put her head on my tummy to chat to baby, it’s so adorable Grin

thepatchworkcat · 20/01/2018 14:57

I’m starving all the time Heregoes! Eating extra cereal/toast etc. If I don’t eat every 2 hours or so I feel pukey again (despite being 20 weeks now). Think I’m going to be rather large!

ClareB83 · 20/01/2018 16:23

I'm definitely having more than an extra 200 calories and did in the first trimester as well. Although my appetite does vary day to day and week to week. OH and I always say it's the boys going through a growth spurt. I do remember week 8 I was eating a days worth of food by midday and that's about when the placenta(s) grows, so maybe.

@Heregoeseverything you definitely must rush into MUmsnet to tell me!! I need some twin friends! In RL I've not met any yet and I'm getting a bit tired of two women at work who KEEP saying "I just don't know how you'll manage with two?!". Stupid women. I'll cope like every other mum who has twins/triplets/two under two/some other thing - because I have to and don't know any different.

That is adorable @Shutupanddance1! Also your song is on my wedding play list must haves!

@heregoes I've gained 2 stone already Blush definitely way over the calorie allowance and struggling in the gym

SparklesandBubbles · 21/01/2018 00:37

@Heregoeseverything don't worry too much about the weight - I put on 3 stone with my First and although I didn't quite lose it all before getting pregnant with number 2 the majority of it went in the first few weeks and a lot of the rest went over the next year. This time round I've not been nearly as sick so haven't felt the need to eat as much. I definitely have some days when I eat loads more than usual though!

ElizabethLemon · 21/01/2018 09:09

Due to some sort of miracle I’ve only gained 2lb. I’ve been advised to gain as little weight as possible due to already being overweight and also being at risk of high bp. The Dr weighed me at my scan and was being really positive and congratulatory on my well controlled diet and minimal weight gain.... My well controlled diet that has mainly consisted of carbs and grease. I ate a whole packet of mini eggs as a snack the other day. I think it must be because I was so nauseous for the 1st 15ish weeks that while I was eating crap, I wasn’t eating much of it.

Northernbeachbum · 21/01/2018 10:52

Well done ElizabethLemon!

Is anyone else finding their bump is starting to get in the way during sex Blush

Cookie1831 · 21/01/2018 11:46

Am definitely more aware of it being there northern but not so bad it makes me uncomfortable but I am a couple of weeks behind you, am not sure if my scales are right as the batteries are really low, I look really big but think I have put on about 8 lbs so far which is similar to previous pregnancies. I have been eating loads of rubbish way over the extra 200 kcal. 1st prey I put on 3 stone second 2.5 so am hoping for similar x

ClareB83 · 21/01/2018 12:12

Yes a bit @Northernbeachbum - we've started rotating in some more bump friendly positions.

Shutupanddance1 · 21/01/2018 12:14

@elizabethlemon that’s fab, well done!!

I put on 4 stone with my last pregnancy, so much fluid Shock I did lose it all tho within 9 months so I’m happy to gain whatever I suppose as long as it’s a healthy pregnancy, I really don’t want to get pre eclampsia again Sad.

@northernbeachbum I’m 20 weeeks and it’s definitely noticeable Hmm, not that I’ve got the energy for much these days!!

I’ve my next scan in 12 days and I can’t wait.. hoping they will confirm it’s another girl as I’ve bought a my little pony outfit set Grin

RockinRobinTweets · 21/01/2018 12:44

I’m currently a couple of lbs off prepregnancy weight. Terrible nausea ruined my appetite until a few weeks ago

ClareB83 · 21/01/2018 15:21

Ugh I just tried on some summer frocks to pack for my honeymoon and I am so huge.

I know I'm five months pregnant with twins but seriously feeling so massive.

I think it's just the stress of my wedding dress fitting/honeymoon and then I won't care until the babies are out.

But after losing so much weight the last few years it is weird seeing it all go back on.

I packed my fat "before" dress for the honeymoon. 🙁

Mummyloves09 · 21/01/2018 16:06

Hey ladies,
Hope your all having a great weekend.
Weight wise I refuse to get on the scales atm😐.
Sex wise we had to change positions, I can't have him on top of me anymore.
Also just some additional things, that have been happening my breast are starting to leak🤔.
And Braxton hicks every evening around a similar time. They are breath taking and are really painful with a hots kind of flush which comes over me at the same time.

Alice0606 · 21/01/2018 18:20

I’ve gained 3.3kg so far (so about 7lb). The pregnancy app I’m using has a weight tracker and says that’s within the expected range for this point. As it’s my first pregnancy I have nothing to compare it to. I just eat what I want and see what happens! I think I’m eating more than the recommended 200 calories above normal though.

I started off pretty small (49.5kg), not sure if that means I’m meant to gain more or less weight!

Heregoeseverything · 22/01/2018 09:36

@ClareB83 Could you get away with responding facetiously but in a "light-hearted" manner to these women? I wouldn't be able to stop myself. "What a helpful and supportive comment, thank you!" big smile "If there's one thing that will lessen the load of managing twins, it's knowing I have you two willing me on!" etc...?

I haven't yet had the stupid, "Your life is about to change" "You'll never sleep again" comments (I assume largely because I have as yet largely only told people close to me who aren't idiots) but am so prepared to shoot them down I am almost looking forward to them...!

I genuinely would love twins, and I do have some idea of the extra work from family and friends. I'm assured that it isn't twice the work, more like 1.5 times the work, and personally I think it would be worth it for the cuteness/in-built best friends/supreme efficiency of having two children for the price of one maternity leave. One friend has the most adorable outfits for her baby twin boys, eg Buzz Lightyear and Woody...I would totally be that mother!

I do think it can be more difficult if the twins aren't your first children, eg if you have a toddler and then twins, which is why I had my fingers crossed for twins first go!

Heregoeseverything · 22/01/2018 09:36

@Alice0606 The lighter you are, the more weight it is recommended to gain!
