Thanks guys :)

Alice0906 · 16/01/2018 15:11

We had our 20 week scan yesterday.

We’re having a boy. I’d have preferred a girl, no real definable reason, think it’s just what I’m most familiar (and therefore comfortable) with. Pretty sure by the time he arrives I’ll have convinced myself that a boy is best!

But the scan also picked up a moderately echogenic bowel. There was evidence of blood in my amniotic fluid, so the most likely explanation is that he swallowed some blood and that’s caused the echogenic bowel. I can’t help worrying though. The sonographer said she was referring it on for a second opinion and we’d be contacted in about 2 weeks. That feels like a very long time to wait. :(

Mummyloves09 · 16/01/2018 16:02

@Alice0906 it's so natural to have a preference. Congratulations 😊.

ClareB83 · 16/01/2018 16:12

I'm sorry you've got to wait @Alice0906 - it's horrible. And don't worry about having had a preference, it'll be like be forgotten by the time your son arrives.

Congrats @Liz and @Alice on your boys, fingers crossed they come back to you sooner about his bowel

@ElizabethLemon I hadn't read it like that don't worry Grin

So exciting all these 20 week scans, I'm getting impatient for next week.......and more tempted to find out what sex it is

RockinRobinTweets · 17/01/2018 12:31

Not posted on here for a while but thought I'd check in for the 20 week scans! Ours is tomorrow. Pretty nervous now but a nice early appointment at least.

ElizabethLemon · 17/01/2018 16:18

I had my 20 week scan this afternoon and all was well. Baby was a bit uncooperative but the sonographer was happy with everything she saw.

We’re having another boy, feeling excited now! I felt a momentary pang of disappointment as this will be our last so no chance of a daughter but I’m just pleased everything is going well and my son was overjoyed at the news! There seem to be a lot of boys on this thread so far.

Hope everyone’s doing ok 😊.

Congrats! X

Flyingfruit · 19/01/2018 13:06

Hi all, does anyone know anything about when we will be given our Mat B1 forms? My boss says their payroll company says I need to hand it in before 25 weeks and it says online I will be given it at a midwife appt after my 20 week scan but I have all my appts and none before 25 weeks so I’m a bit confused??

Cookie1831 · 19/01/2018 13:55

My midwife says they don’t like to sign them before the baby is viable but if I drop it in to the surgery at 23/24 weeks they will sign it for me to collect without having to be seen again, I imagine different places do things differently though x

ClareB83 · 19/01/2018 13:56

I don't know why your work need it at a particular point as long as you notify before the deadline.

However since they are being funny I would call your midwife and see if you can drop by before your next appointment just to get the form. I think they'll do it anytime after 20 weeks and I know my midwives do it without an appointment if you need it.

My HR have been nagging me for ages too @flyingfruit but I've been told 25 week appt I can have it. I've just said there's nothing I can do and they can have it as soon as I do

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 19/01/2018 15:37

Week 14 now and I'm having the most horrendous headache.. I say headache as singular because it's been here since Sunday and won't go :( I've taken paracetamol twice because I couldn't stand the pain any longer - anyone else?

Also, the tiredness is still not abating - DH is sleeping in the spare room tonight to see if that gives me a full night's sleep.

Got a midwife appointment on Tuesday so will get my blood pressure and urine checked out then.

I thought these were supposed to be the golden weeks?! LOL

lifechangesforeverinjuly · 19/01/2018 15:38

I've posted on the wrong thread - sorry!!!

Flyingfruit · 19/01/2018 15:43

@ClareB83 what is the official deadline then? I thought it was 25 weeks.
Thanks everyone good to know midwives happy to do it without appointments.

ClareB83 · 19/01/2018 16:00

That is the deadline for telling your work you are pregnant, but you have told them! They know, they just don't have your form yet.

Flyingfruit · 19/01/2018 16:34

Ah I see perfect, thank you!

Mummyloves09 · 20/01/2018 07:02

Thanks for the heads up ladies, at my 16 week appointment midwife said the next time she will see me will be at 28 weeks so I will get in contact at 25weeks to see if I can get the form signed off as I wanted to get my mat leave sorted before my boss leaves the work place.

Another thing when was everyone thinking to take leave?

I'm due the 7th June so I was thinking 3rd as I'm on week holiday the week before. But from April I will move to our headquarters closer to home. I can't bear the thought of sitting at home alone and being bored.

Northernbeachbum · 20/01/2018 07:55

@mummyloves09 I'm due the 9th so going on the 1st but have that week before annual leave. So 28th may I think but if I had an office job I'd go as late as possible. I just worry with the driving I do being 3hrs from home wouldn't be good any later
