@Paperchains1986 you'll need a car seat and either a pram or a baby carrier/sling (which are much more popular now than when I had my first 6.5 years ago) somewhere for baby to sleep. Blankets a few baby gros. Lots of other things are 'nice to have' but not necessary. Honestly, you can make babies as costly or not as you need. With my second I got one of those bed nest type cribs which was a lifesaver in terms of getting more sleep. My children lived in baby gros til they were walking as they're easy and comfy and I love a baby in a baby gro they're so gorgeously squishy but other people like to put baby in outfits so it's all down to preference.

Hi everyone,

I'm 18 weeks pregnant with twins and have almost fainted twice now managed to sit down and drink some water both times thank God, does anyone have any advice on this it seems to happen after I've been walking or am hot?

Thanks so much.

ClareB83 · 02/01/2018 11:54

Hi @Gaeilge I'm 18+4 with twins too. I haven't been fainting but I've never fainted in my life. Were you a little prone before or is this brand new?

Maybe drink more water and wear layers so you can cool down?

Sorry I've no experience to drawn on!

paperchains I've bought very little, only when I've found bargains such as a cheap cheap sleepyhead and a cheap perfect prep. Anything else I'm going to hold off until after 24 weeks

Gaeilge · 02/01/2018 12:48

Congrats Claire hope everything goes well for you :)
I've never fainted in my life either so this is new I'll give the helpline a call if I can ever get through to them.

Cheers.

Hi! I'm just joining this as due on June 4th. Hello all!

Is anyone else having hip pain already? Mine seems to go really numb on one side and get awfuln pins and needles - it's driving me mad! And I know you're not supposed to sleep on your back but I can't get comfy any other way.

Northernbeachbum · 02/01/2018 15:23

Ah I thought you could sleep on your back til 3rd trimester? I have been or my back would be agony!

usernamegoeshere · 02/01/2018 16:56

paperchains this is number 2 for us, but the first is 4 and we have kept literally nothing! I haven't bought anything yet and not planning to for a while, figure I will focus on sorting the house first and making space then worry about things!

Bojangles33 · 02/01/2018 18:57

Northern I've read some things saying from 16 weeks?! Which seemed early to me too. I think I am just going to have to carry on sleeping on my back propped up and will speak to me MW about it when I see her next

Paperchains1986 · 02/01/2018 18:59

Ok so if I wait until I'm back from holiday at 26 weeks, I can get every then? Phew!

I thought it was 3rs trimester you should sleep on your left side and not your back

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 17:04
Grin Hello lovelies. Happy new year to you all. Hope you're all getting on ok.

My Ovia app said the other day:

"Are people stopping you to say "my what beautiful skin"; can you see your own essence with your eyes closed in the dark? If so, then you might have pregnancy glow! Lucky lady!".

Good grief.
Wtf is "your own essence" anyway? [santa]

ClareB83 · 03/01/2018 17:06

Wow!!

I can feel my fingers getting fatter and my knee hurts. Is that pregnancy glow?

OP posts:
SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 17:17

GrinClare
My skin certainly isn't glowing- it's constantly dry and over sensitive, especially in this windy weather.

Maybe the idea of glowing is just to make us feel better about ourselves when we just feel fat and frumpy Grin

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 17:21

(Though maybe my bad skin is a result of all the junk I've been consuming lately.
)

georgie262 · 03/01/2018 17:30

Third trimester during my first pregnancy (I was 28) was amazing. I looked pregnant not fat, my boobs were just amazing, my hair was lush, my skins was glowing but It certainly was wasn't like that during my second and there's no chance now I look bloated and knackered.

Intelinside · 03/01/2018 17:36

I'm so fat, don't even look pregnant. Fat fingers, an extra (third) chin. Def not glowing.

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 17:41

So no one can see their essence when they close their eyes in the dark then?? :)
I have no idea what that actually means.

Mummyloves09 · 03/01/2018 18:20

i had to laugh, as i was reading

"Are people stopping you to say "my what beautiful skin"; can you see your own essence with your eyes closed in the dark? If so, then you might have the pregnancy glow! Lucky lady!"

As I am totally the opposite of that statement. I'm lots of fat with terrible skin especially as I look so pale in winter. I guess winter pregnancies are the worse as all the bulky clothes and padded coats don't help.

also ladies, I'm finding it really hard sitting at my desk and driving most days. That 90 degree angle my body is in, makes it uncomfortable on my lower stomach. anyone else?

skenn3285 · 03/01/2018 19:21

@Mummyloves09 me too! Just got back to the office today and my chair that was perfect when I left in Dec (at 14 was) is now so uncomfortable. Feels like something with a slight recline would be better :) Sofas for 2 weeks has spoilt me!

Cookie1831 · 03/01/2018 19:52

Another non glower here dry pale skin and knackered although someone did say I was blooming at the weekend but think that is just in reference to my boobs which about 3 cup sizes bigger already!
Am 15 weeks and think maybe have felt a few flutters am not entirely sure has anyone else felt much?x

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 19:55

Absolutely MummyLoves. I suppose, though, that even though I'm particularly pasty in the winter months, so are a lot of other (non-pregnant) people. At least it's better than being around glamorous dewy-skinned tanned people while I feel like shit (and let's hold on to the hope we will look fabulous when the weather warms).

To sit up tall I have to have my legs open wide like a bloke. Ok if you're a newsreader perhaps; not so great working in a boys high school.

Intelinside · 03/01/2018 20:12

I've made a list of what I've been told are essentials and a few 'nice to haves'. Can you share your lists with me? Sorry about the thumbs up, just covered up a name! Haha

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 20:15

@Cookie1831 I've been feeling something in the lower abdomen area but not sure if it's just bowel movements. It's certainly not a 'flutter' or bubbly feeling. I think I feel it more when lying down or after eating. I'm looking to feel it though so it might be just in my head.

Intelinside · 03/01/2018 20:16

I'm the same Sylvester. I think I can feel something but might just be stretching. I'm 17.5 weeks and have felt movement low down but hard to know!

SylvesterTheCat · 03/01/2018 20:25

That's an excellent list @Intelinside!
I've screenshot it for myself:)
