Hello! Dropping back in to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Super excited to think I might actually be having a baby in 2018 (prev MC & fertility issues so still slightly nervous despite having a 2yo as well)

Been doing a little bit of shopping for bump. Just want it to have a few new-to-it things and it makes it feel more real! Have a lot of stuff from last time, so trying not to buy anything big. Hope you are all well xx

ClareB83 · 29/12/2017 12:23

Hi newbies! Congrats on your growing bumps!

Hey ladies,
I hope your all well?
I have purchased a travel cot, swing, steriliser, bottles set, all in one coat and a blanket.
I was given a crib which will come in handy.
We decided not to buy clothes until the summer collection comes in.

georgie262 · 29/12/2017 18:36

I would recommend for any planning to mix or formula feed that the Timmy tipee perfect prep machines are GAME CHANGERS!

ElizabethLemon · 29/12/2017 19:42

We’ve bought a pushchair 🙄 and I have ordered a few nice babygrows and vests in the sales. John Lewis had some really decent reductions on sleepsuits etc. and I bought a few nicer bits from Zara. That’s it now though, no more spending!

How is everyone feeling physically? I’m feeling pretty grim still! I had a horrible cold and chest infection over Christmas which has really knocked me for six and I still feel exhausted. I’ve been in bed a LOT over the last week. I’m also really uncomfortable, especially towards the top of my abdomen. Do you think this is normal?? I really don’t think I was feeling so achey and exhausted in my last pregnancy but it may just be that I can’t remember, plus I was 21 then!

If I’m being honest I feel like I’ve been pregnant for 9 months already and can’t wait for it to be over!

Harri161 · 29/12/2017 23:35

Hi everyone,

I've bought a few bits of clothes, a pramsuit, gro egg, steriliser and bottles, thermometer and travel cot (random but it was a great price).

I'm waiting a while to get the cot, Moses basket and pram.

I've been really lucky and have managed to dodge the winter colds which is quite unusual for me. Sorry to hear that you're feeling wiped out @ElizabethLemon I hope you feel better soon. I've been getting cramps but they pass very quickly. I have been feeling energy less though. There's a lot going on in our bodies growing a little person! 😊

X

Mummyloves09 · 29/12/2017 23:35

@ Elizabethlemon same here very achey and uncomfortable and sadly I think as time has pasted (aged) it takes a toll on our bodies.
Because with my first pregnancy (when i was 17/18 years old) I sailed through it, now I feel like a moany cow all the time🤔.

Harri161 · 29/12/2017 23:37

Does anyone have any advice about buying a baby bath or have any recommendations on brand/model?

georgie262 · 29/12/2017 23:43

@Harri161 I would say baby baths aren't necessary. Baby equipment tends to be big and bulky anyway. Baby baths take up loads of room. I had one with DS but didn't bother with DD just ran a bath in the normal bath and held my hands underneath her, quick wash and out. By the time she was old enough to actually enjoy it she was too big for the baby bath anyway.

Harri161 · 29/12/2017 23:57

Thanks @georgie262
I'm still trying to work out what's necessary and what's not...the ads would make you believe that you need everything.

Do you (or anyone else) have any recommendations or advice on baby bouncers/swings?

georgie262 · 30/12/2017 08:48

@Harri161 don't spend a lot of money straight away. Some babies love certain swings and some don't. If you could borrow one first to try out that's ideal. It's soul destroying to buy a £100 electric swing to find your baby screams blue murder every time s/he looks at it. But then some people swear by them (not much use sorry)

Northernbeachbum · 30/12/2017 10:25

We're not going for a baby bath either, the plan is the sink and bathing at the same time (although that will be DPs job as I like scorching hot baths or I'll get cold Grin)

Baby swing I think we might get a cheaper one just for shower time when I'm on my own, there's one on Amazon for £30

Harri161 · 30/12/2017 11:33

Thanks @Northernbeachbum
@georgie262

Mummyloves09 · 30/12/2017 12:01

Also there is a website/ app called shpock that you can purchase unused baby stuff on. I got my swing on there original price £89 I got for £30 brand new. Worth a look

Lulu298 · 30/12/2017 13:58

And there are loads of Facebook buy or swap groups dedicated to baby things - people are often desperate to get rid of the stuff! Quite useful for trying a few things out xx

ElizabethLemon · 30/12/2017 17:54

@Mummyloves09 haha yep moaning cow sounds like me too.

Saw my PIL today and told them about the pregnancy. My MIL said she knew already because I was a different shape, I didn’t think I looked that pregnant but obviously been kidding myself!

georgie262 · 31/12/2017 16:11

My car got broken into last night. They stole my tub of heroes the bastards. Luckily they left my credit card so swings and roundabouts

Mummyloves09 · 31/12/2017 20:40

What a mess, we can see where their priorities are😏 but I guess It kinda worked in your favour however, I love hero's, celebrations and quality streets so I get the frustration.
Have a happy New year ladies, may 2018 top 2017. plus we will all have babies come summer it doesn't get much better than that😁😍🤗

Northernbeachbum · 01/01/2018 09:38

What a lot of effort to go to for some chocolate!!!

Has anyone found they get a pulled muscle feeling sometimes, even when doing something as simple as getting off the sofa? We treated ourselves to a private scan a few days ago so not worried really it just is causing me a bit of pain.

Harri161 · 01/01/2018 11:19

Happy New Year everyone 🎉🎉

2018 is going to be exciting for us all with our summer babies. 😃 5.5 months to go.

I hope 2018 is very happy for you all.

Harri161 · 01/01/2018 11:22

I've been feeling that too @Northernbeachbum paracetamol and a hot water bottle usually helps me.

...and being really breathless after even just walking upstairs. I was really fit before pregnancy.

Northernbeachbum · 01/01/2018 12:02

Me too harri, gym 5 times a week usually!! Trying to get my fitness back up. But this just feels like I've pulled a rib muscle.

I'm sure everyone told me how wonderful pregnancy is, they never included the niggles Grin

georgie262 · 01/01/2018 12:49

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Has anyone had a previous c-section? I feel like my c-section scar is 'pulling' when I blow my nose or sneeze lately. 😩

TurtleEyes · 01/01/2018 21:20

Hi everyone happy New year. On Xmas eve I git a little over excited at the motherboard sale and ordered a pram cot crib and some bits from the hello friend collection. It's my first baby and it was nice to feel a bit more real.
My sister didn't use a baby bath but ive ordered one because I think it would be easier than using the big bath/ shower.
I'm glad other people have started buying things I got a through telling off from Dps family the other day, saying its too early. And they wanted to give me their old stuff or buy us something (still need loads) Upset me a bit :(

Paperchains1986 · 02/01/2018 08:06

Reading this thread has got me worried. First baby, no bump, haven't bought a thing and made no plans really. What are essentials I need to get, do you think? Due 11th June. (Baby unplanned but been married nearly 6 years and very happy news).
