sorry - WO - did u mean she might do a sweep on u today or an internal?

EllieKthePA · 18/04/2007 09:55

good morning all!

HAPPY DUE DATE WEEONION AND CHARNBUMP!

have we had anyone give birth on their due date yet?

had a much better night here, I got myself a breast pump and expressed some milk last night, it meant that when Joe fed at 1am there was just the right amount, it wasn't so full, and he fed much better, followed by a very good sleep! i think he's been dozing off with the hard work of sucking before he's got to the last of the milk, hence needing another feed half hour later!

we slept for 3 hours, then he fed, then we slept for another 4 hours

and matthew slept from 7.30 til 7.30

Katy44 · 18/04/2007 10:06

I had a few KNUF moments in bed last night. Come on baby!!

charNbump · 18/04/2007 10:11

ok what does KNUF mean?

liath · 18/04/2007 10:14

Hi everyone, sending lots of labour vibes. Just popped my birth story on the birth announcements, it's a bit scatalogical - you have been warned.....

Happy due date Char and weeonion - hope things happen for you today girls!!

"Knitting Needle Up Fanjo!!"

Sorry your DH is being such a pita SOSPL - making plans and wotnot - my DH is a bit the same - I know it is our 3rd, but he is not v.realistic at the best of times ..... Currently completely obssessed with having a forgein student in our spare room over the summer!!!! I know we need the extra cash, but we have NO IDEA what this LO is going to be like and I don't really want to be looking after THREE children and an extra teenager who could potentially be a ocmpelte pita - The buck will stop with me at the end of the day as I am the one who doesn't work etc. Grrrr! Anyway, think I may v.nearly have talked him out of it and we'll wait for the winter when we are more settled as a fmaily. Sorry - that turned into rather a selfish rant - [[hugs] of sympathy to you SOSPL - Hope B improves her mood too - How are the "Evil Ones" today?? - Not so many in the comb with my 2 this morning, which was good!

Glad you had a much better night Ellie - soooo much easier with the pump, eh!!? Great stuff that Matthew slept so long too!

In this morning and then going out with friends to a cafe / craft hall / playground type place this PM. Taking along a girl from church to help me out though ...... Super Woman cape is drooping slightly!!

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 10:46

Hey - Where'd everyone go!!!?

zazas · 18/04/2007 10:47

Morning. Still me and bump - no baby - 8 days overdue Thought the sweep might have started something but slept peacefully through the night and feel no closer today than before. Refusing to answer the phone now - can't people understand that I will let them know when I have had it...My Mother who is on holiday in NZ rang all hurt asking why I hadn't let her know anything - eh nothing to tell maybe!

Have to admit quite enjoying not working and having the kids at school - very relaxing, maybe that is why she is staying put - I'm keeping her in enjoying this time on my own.

Measured my bump - only 39inches but it was in the morning - I am sure I double that by the evening.

Labour vibes for all who want them......not that I seem to have any control over anything to do with going into labour

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 10:54

Sorry nothing is happening for you yet zazas - but glad you are managing to enjoy this precious relaxing time while you are waiting ..... - I am sure it won't be long for you considering what the MW said at your appt yesterday!

Hurrah!

I have managed to get rid of the girls for Friday afternoon and I am planning to go into town and pamper myself a bit and have a massage and hot choc etc at this new place that is opening in town - they are having a special "open afternoon" on Friday where all treatments are 1/2 price - Can't wait!! Feeling guilty for getting rid of the girls though, please tell me I am silly .....

Bramshott · 18/04/2007 10:56

Just when I was keeping up with the other thread, there's a new one!! Congrats to Octo on arrival of Ernie, and anyone else who has snuck a baby out and I've missed it!

EM - bet you have your baby before we get to meet up!! Have you got your homebirth kit?

A tip re the car: take two towels - one to cover seat and one to wrap baby in. We only had one so the seat copped it a bit ! Went to register Orla the other day, and had to give details of the road I gave birth in - you should have heard them: "do you know the postcode"? "do you know which number you were outside"? Er no, I was concentrating on other things thanks!

Feeling blithe and happy this morning, had a good night last night - Ellie, glad to hear you did too!

nellyhel · 18/04/2007 11:00

Good luck with mw appointments and potential sweeps today! At least you might get some idea of anything is happening - even if it is wrong or a waste of time it gives you something to think about?

Zazas - if only we could control when labour happened - or knew when it would, we'd all be much happier today .

SOSPL - know what you mean about half an hour not hands on. I am so relieved ds went to nursery no bother despite two sets of tears before we left. Then dd decided to start crying in the line for school but just briefly. Today I feel like ranting at them along the lines of "Have you any idea how I feel carrying about this concrete lump, exhausted, spending my days feeding you lot and cleaning up after you!!!" etc etc. Thankfully I have managed to largely restrain myself so far, but if I get pushed too far... yes I will be acting like a two year old but there you go.

What happened to yesterday's positive mood?
Thought my mood today was disappointment at lack of progress after sweep/show but actually feel really weird - so very tired I just need to sit down and sleep. Haven't felt like this for a few weeks. Time for DVD for ds and snooze after lunch definitely.

CD - I'm not getting started on my DH's failings or I'll never finish this post...

Katy44 · 18/04/2007 11:02

CD what do you mean you don't work? You're always at work?
Bramshott - it never occurred to me that you'd have to go into so much detail!

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 11:02

Hi Bramshott! Glad you feeling today honey! PMSL @ the Q's they asked you when you went to register the birth! What did they put on the Cert in the end?? (Intrigued!!) ... "Random Road in ......"??

Just writing Birthday cards for the next couple of weeks as I know I won't get a chance otherwise....

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/04/2007 11:02

Hiya loves.

Ellie, glad you had a better night last night - let's hope it is the start of things to come!

Zaza's, labour vibes to you. Maybe your good nights' sleep is the calm before the storm???

CD, hope you are ok and not overdoing it pet. Your life sounds exhausting. Cannot believe you are having a foreign student during the summer. Dh is still organising things. He has invited his cousin down this weekend from London and he will be staying Saturday night. Andrej has agreed that going to the Isle of Wight with him is not a good idea though - thank heavens for small mercies eh! I am still not keen having someone in the house though a week before due date, although I have been assured that Andrej will organise bedding etc etc.

Just seen my mw/friend, and she thinks baby is pretty well engaged! Thinks I probably have enough room in my tummy to go another week. I hope she is right!!

Right, off to Gym Tots now, so will check back in later on.

Lots of love to everyone. xx

nellyhel · 18/04/2007 11:02

Bramshott - can't believe they asked you the postcode !! That is incredible. Another bit to a good story for Orla when she is older anyway!

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 11:03

I only usually work one a/n a week Katy - I was just at work a lot last week cos my Boss was on holiday and needed cover - and we needed cash!!

Katy44 · 18/04/2007 11:05

I see

Bramshott · 18/04/2007 11:07

CD - it ended up as "Wood Road, Farnham, en route to Royal Surrey County Hospital"! Luckily DH looked up the name of the road, and then went back to take a picture! Good to see you hon, hope it's going okay.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 18/04/2007 11:07

Nelly, I feel the same as you. I want to say to Becky, "do you realise how tired I am. I am not your skivvy, and start asking for things nicely or you won't get anything at all"!!!

Have managed to bite my tongue so far, but it is only 11.00 and we have hours to go yet.

CD, B is still scratching. I couldn't be arsed to comb her hair last night, but MUST do it tonight.

CaptainDippy · 18/04/2007 11:12

LOL Bramshott - that is fab! I am fine, just v.restless ..... Ooooooh, btw, Octo's little man hasn't got a name yet - her and DH were too sure about Ernie towards the end .....

charNbump · 18/04/2007 11:42

back from midwife, waste of time. I dunno if i'm progressing or anything as no exam done - what i do know is that baby has turned over and is now lying back to back the little bugger so gotta do some exercises to change him/her back the right way!

Still getting my pains, midwife wasn't at all concerned so we'll c ......

Baby still not engaged either, she reckons it just might not seeing as its sat in the same depth for 7 weeks now! Blimey child - not makin my life awkward are you?!?! ha. Bokoed in 4 a sweep next wed if nothin happens b4 then....sigh.

Knitting needle up fanjo - NICE! saying that - had a few KNUF moments myself recently

Emmymummy · 18/04/2007 11:44

Morning all. Have just had MW appt, head not engaged again, but just on brim, so apparently all the pains I've been having are the head bouncing in and out and touching the various nerves that get triggered when you go into labour. She reckon bubs will be about 7lb - am happy with that!

Had another good chat about home birth and am so happy to be doing this at home - just want to get on with it and experience it!

CD - your dh is bonkers - agree you need to wait to see how the new baby settles before renting out a room to a student. Presumably this would be someone over for the summer to learn English? Would be quite entertaining I guess if you end up with a nice one (thinking sexy French male, approx. 20 years old, loves kids and likes cooking? - would that be hoping for too much?).

Bramshott - that's so funny about having to give the name of the road where Orla was born. Like you say, not really what you were looking at at the time....will drop you an email as soon as I post this.....

eca · 18/04/2007 11:47

hiya girls&bumps!!

Well, I had a most interesting night After the mw said nothing is looking like it would happen soon I relaxed a bit, went a brisk walk, got dh in the bedroom and had a clary sage bath and then was wide awake with contractions from 2 until 5ish, about every 15-20mins. However, I just lay there thinking this can't be anything because mw said nothing would happen! ! Alas, the action has dried up now (so maybe it was nothing. I'm getting the odd one this morning, but nothing really regular, maybe I dreamt it all! But it's the first time I've had anything remotely like a real contraction that I could actually time! Needless to say I wont be telling anyone in RL because it will just up the 'have you had it' calls.

Zazas totally sympathize with you about the calls! They are infuriating!!

WO&Char - hope that the mw's appointments go well and they have some progress to report!!

WO - what's with the cat???? V V wierd. maybe dh is worrying about that instead of the more pressing issue of his baby !!

SOSPL - sorry to hear B is still being a pita. Love and hugs. Keep going, you're doing a fab job coping with it all xx

CD - NOOOOOOOO to the foreign student!! Hope stressful will that be??? Oh my goodness, (unless you get one who's great with kids )!! AND YEY to the papmpering on friday. Sounds like just what you need. >

Bramshott - fab birth certificate! Nice to see you xx
