Katy - LOL at picking up specks of dust off the carpets..what it feels like sometimes, hey? I was actually really pleased I got half the kitchen done yesterday as it HAS been hanging over me as a Job To Be Done for ages and if nothing else at least I can take it off the bloody list!

Met up with a couple we know who have moved back to the UK last night, they are over to show off their new baby to friends and family (3.5months). Was so lovely to see them and their baby is gorgeous but I felt really freaked out looking at him.. Suddenly got this wave of ´ohmygod I´m going to have one of them, I can´t do this, what were we thinking, are we INSANE, AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH´ followed by mental ´running out of door and down street waving arms´..

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 11:51

No they can't!! Zazas - they can't tell you that if you go 2 and a bit weeks over and you are labouring at home in your pool, then they won't come out to you - That is crap!!! I have at least four friends who had successful Homebirth experiences after going over 14 days late - You need to get a good, supportive, pro-Homebirth MW on your side - What is your MW like? Start asking around .....

Anyway - hopefully it won't come to that ...

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 11:51

LOL @ "Slides being involved in my personal induction technique"!!

maveta · 19/04/2007 11:52

Bugmum - they really really are so cute. It will be interesting to see what turns out to be our nappy of choice after all.. we´ve got Sandy´s, Bamboozle, Bambineo, Diddy Diaper, Bimbles and a Swaddlebees. From what I´ve read I think we´ll end up going with the Bambineo´s although they aren´t the most exciting looking nappy at all... we shall see..

Bugmum · 19/04/2007 11:52

Right, off to forage for some lunch before DS wakes from his nap wanting his lunch (which luckily Daddy is able to come home and make and serve - hooray!).

See you lovelies later xx

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 11:54

Ooooh, of you Bugmum - Have to do lunch / take to nursery thing by myself today and DD1 is soooo volitile (sp?) about food / getting in the car ..... Drives me bonkers ..... Could take a loooong time ......

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 11:57

Which reminds me .... Perhaps I should get off my lardy arse and get something started for their lunch now ......

Bugmum · 19/04/2007 11:57

Oh, CD, sorry - wasn't rubbing it in! Hope the food thing isn't too stressful today.

Later xx

At least all the other first timers are cleaning, I'm much too lazy. The last few days have involved waking up fairly early, before or after Mike, then he goes out about 7.30 (earlier this morning), have an icepop to ease the acid, read newspapers and a bit of a book (70-100 pages of fairly fast reading crime novels mainly), go back to sleep, watch Location Location Location at 9.45, come downstairs, maybe try and eat, turn the computer on, post turns up sometime after 11, Cagney and Lacey at 11.55, yawn, hot bath, maybe some sleep, some small snacks, ice pops.

I'm quite looking forward to my medical appointments in the next few days - GP tomorrow, hospital doctor Monday, midwife at local health centre Wednesday, something to break the tedium! Due date next Tuesday but I'm expecting baby to be late, in maternal family tradition.

Luci

maveta · 19/04/2007 12:22

Hey Elkiedee.. I wouldn´t say the level of cleaning I do is really enough to haul me out of the ´lazy´ category. More one day I´ll vacuum, one day I´ll dust, etc etc. All very evenly distributed throughout the week.. like you say, anything to lift the tedium.

Anyway, I feel better now the water has finally come back on so I am showered and dressed.. having homemade tomato soup (mmmm) for lunch but have to go buy a baguette and some cheese to put on the side. Hope those feeding little ones get through it okay!

claricebean · 19/04/2007 13:01

Hi girls, just popped in to say hello to all those waiting, and a big congratulations to all those who've recently given birth, including octo and liath and anyone else I've missed.

Ruby and I are doing well. Bf, as ever, is painful to get going, but we are through the most toe curling part, I think. And she is a gorgeous baby, absolute delight on the eating and sleeping front. (so far )

Anyway, hope you're all well. Slightly of you first timers and your free time. I'm sure it feels tedious now, but this is your last maternity leave alone EVER!!

Katy44 · 19/04/2007 13:10

Hi Claricebean, glad everything is going well!

heidle · 19/04/2007 13:11

hey there everyone! glad to hear no one is in pain this afternoon - apart from those of us that wish we were!
I'm having a duvet day with ds2, he got sent home from nursery yesterday after being sick (all over the bob the builder scooter)and so has missed his farm trip (and packed lunch) instead came to hairdressers with me! bless him, he was soooo good, I was worried he'd be puking or pooing everywhere, but he sat quietly and watched me in the mirror!
have midwife appt tomorrow, am not feeling anything, but I know it can't be too long now.........all that's left to look forward to is the pain!!!!!!

on that positive note, I shall go and take rlt tablets.
bye for now!
labour vibes to all that want

Katy44 · 19/04/2007 13:16

have just eaten about 20 choc biscuits

elkiedee · 19/04/2007 13:24

Well, now I'm feeling bad because just as I was about to go into the kitchen and venture through a snack, bearing in mind my continuing acid/threat of sickness, first a delivery van pulls up outside, sadly nothing for us, then he finally goes away - I hate it when very large vehicles park outside - we don't have one - as they take away any view of the street.

Then Mike rang just as I got into the kitchen and half way through preparing snack. I know I'm unreasonable but I hate being asked how I am - uncomfortable, bored, sore throat, sort of low level feeling ill constantly, it really doesn't change. He's now upset because I snapped, and it hasn't helped matters that I went upstairs and found his hairbrush on the changing mat on the trolley waiting for baby. I know I'm fretting about trivia because I'm fed up and I feel like a complete bitch now....

Luci

Katy44 · 19/04/2007 13:28

Ooh Luci I'm sure he understands. If it makes you feel better though, give him a quick ring.
Sorry you're feeling ill xx

zazas · 19/04/2007 13:41

Thanks Isabellymoi and CD for your support - it has made me all quite mentally tired thinking about this... So hugs to you both and that is about the most energy I can muster right now

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 13:44

Not a bitch, honey, just PG!

Hoep your DS feels better soon heidle, bless him - hope the Bob the Builder Scooter was ok.

I think my DD2 may well be possessed by the Devil - she screeeeeeeeeeamed all the way through lunch, screeeeeeeeeeeeeamed, punched, kicked etc etc all the way through her nappy change, screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeamed when I tried to put her in the car and screeeeeeeeeamed when I left her at nursery - This behaviour is started to get sooooo wearing now - I don't really have the strength or energy to deal with it. Where's my happy little girl gone??

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 13:46

Thank you for [[hugs] zazas - Same back to you sweetie - Any chance of a wee rest for you today?? I'm going to go and blitz the housework and then DH is coming home early so we can go out and have a relaxing Sussex Cream Tea together. Soooo relieved the DD's are at nursery ....

elkiedee · 19/04/2007 14:06

Thanks Katy and CD, your responses help. He called back and we made up, and I'm consuming some milk and scone before I have a bath (I'm trying to do most of my eating between 12 and 6 pm, to reduce the impact of the acid on trying to sleep at night, and because I seem to keep more down than in the morning).

Luci

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2007 14:13

My eating is much the same Elkie - I get terrible acid at nightime and find it hard to eat much - Has been a bit of sickie PG all round really. Glad you and DH made up!

heidle · 19/04/2007 14:23

bless you elkiedee - i've only had heartburn for a couple of weeks so can't complain, but I have to say it's already annoying the beejesus out of me, so can't imagine how pee'd off and ready for the birth you must be!!

maveta · 19/04/2007 14:28

Glad you made up with your dh Elkiedee.. CD sounds like things are a bit better with yours too?? Cream tea sounds luverly! Maybe your little one senses your general fatigue/can´t be arsed-ness and is taking advantage? Not that I would like to suggest for one moment that toddlers could be manipulative like that . Hope it settles down for you soon.

Don´t worry Katy - think we might aswell make the most of it while we can. As soon as this baby is out, all the crap in the cupboard has to go too...in come all the healthy summer snacks.

Heidle - poor lo.. hope he feels better and enjoys the tlc from mummy!

Claricebean - forgot to thank you all that time ago for giving me a nice positive birth experience story from spain! Has reassured me a little that it really might not be so bad after all... glad things are going well with Ruby, it´s a gorgeous name btw.. just got dh to pronounce it for me and it sounds lovely in a spanish accent too!

Had a productive morning after all, feeling very happy.. finished all but one cupboard in the kitchen..finished setting up the home office for work.. cleared out the bench in the washroom where dh throws all his DIY stuff.. very good morning´s work.

foam and material finally arrived to make cushions for my glider chair and my mum´s friend is coming over later to pick it all up and get them made (yay for lovely generous and helpful people!!)

heidle · 19/04/2007 14:29

bless you too CD - it's way too late now for any of us to change our minds about expanding our families............. it did seem like a good idea at the time I seem to remember, but now I'm just too tired to cope.or was it just the thrill of unprotected sex i was after........?
You're gorgeous girl will come back, I promise. (you don't know where I live if i'm wrong do you?) she might just be feeling the tension of waiting..............................................................................................................................................................................i know how she feels.

hope you have a better day tomorrow.

weeonion · 19/04/2007 14:35

hi folks. just back in from lunch with a friend to take miond off it all. still getting cramps but seems to have slowed down. they come back in force if i get up and walk around - so i have been a lazy cow and parked my arse. hmmm - maybe i should be out doing laps of the area then.
