I've been feeling rolling movements for a while, but now I can feel distinct taps which must be baby kicking. It's lush! I'm 16 weeks, 17 on Monday, my 20 week scan is 3 weeks on monday which seems AGES but I know in the run up to Christmas it'll hopefully go quick.

What's not lush is that I've put on so much weight. Over a stone now. I need an intervention! I've resolved to not have biscuits and cakes in the house. I need to eat constantly to relieve the nausea and heartburn so I'll make sure I have some healthier snacks, fruit, crackers. What else can I snack on that's quick and takes little to no preparation?

I went up to have a relaxing bath today, and my bath bomb said do not use in pregnancy :-( I nearly cried. I blame the hormones!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 25/11/2017 18:27

Milford I like an oatcake with a bit of Philadelphia on it

HerSymphonyAndSong · 25/11/2017 18:27

It if you have a bit more time something like an oats so simple porridge - it does fill you up

HerSymphonyAndSong · 25/11/2017 18:28

I’m also now feeling distinct taps! Particularly after I’ve had something sugary

InRainbows · 26/11/2017 08:32

MilfordFound I have added berries to my shopping list now, great for a after lunch snack, I also eat a fruit and nut mix, usually almond and raisin if you close your eyes sometimes you can taste cherry bakewell! My vice at the moment is pasta and cheese, I keep cooking some pasta up in my lunch break so I recently purchased red lentil pasta, I believe lentils are a superfood in pregnancy!

Noredwine · 26/11/2017 10:57

Milford & symphony -
Are the taps you feel a bit like a little scratching or weird internal pulse? I am 18 weeks today but placenta at front and therefore harder to feel but midwife said I would still be able to feel at sides and bottom of bump. Only feeling I have had is bottom right above hip which feels like a brief scratching sensation or pulse - could that be pip squeak? Or am I just kidding myself?!

MilfordFound · 26/11/2017 11:53

Oh yes oatcake with philly and a sliced cherry plum tomato on top, yum! Porridge is a good idea too.
I went through a baking phase for a couple of weeks, cheese straws, flapjacks, chocolate chip cookies. But once I've made them I have to eat them so I've backed off from baking for a bit!

Mmm pasta and cheese, well now I'm going to have that for lunch Smile

@noredwine I would say that any sensation you don't normally experience is probably baby! For me at first it was a sense of pressure and something rolling turning around. Really low down by my pubic bone. Now it's gentle taps, little pokes and wiggles. Not very often and usually only noticeable when I'm sitting still or trying to go to sleep. Or after food, I think digestion must be loud for baby!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 26/11/2017 12:52

Before it was more like an internal muscle twitch (like when your eye twitches), but now it is like a distinct separate tap or pop - usually after eating something (so i felt nothing until after breakfast this morning)

Blueberry1 · 27/11/2017 11:15

I'm 17 weeks and getting occasional twinges (little flutters?) that might be baby, but I can't tell. Spoke to a new Mum recently and she said she wasn't sure to feel her son move until about 20 weeks although he might have done before, but it could equally have been indigestion Wink.

Noredwine · 28/11/2017 07:25

Thanks Blueberry - that's reassuring to know. I keep waiting for movement and don't feel any and then get worried pip squeak has gone. But being 18 weeks now surely I would know if something had happened?! Paranoid. Scan is a week on Thursday and can't wait for that to come round.
Anyone else absolutely knackered?! So much for second trimester energy!! I am generally feeling ok but have a bit of a cold and boobs sometimes feel like have lightening sticks attached to them!! But seriously knackered. Wonder if I need to eat a bit more? Always had a healthy appetite and BMI 30 (as short but sturdy build) so conscious of not putting on too much weight. Only put on half a stone since got pregnant but sure baby has plenty to get energy from as I'm not a skinny girl!! Just shattered all the time. When I wake up in the morning I could quite happily stay in bed and go back to sleep!!

Aggy106 · 28/11/2017 07:48

Nored I'm exactly the same, I could happily fall asleep at my desk or anywhere really. I've had a cold/cough which has been waking me up in the night and I'm really struggling to get over it. I wonder if our bodies are so busy looking after the baby that they don't have energy to fight a cold and get a decent night's sleep. Hopefully the trimester 2 magic will start killing in soon.

I'm still not feeling anything either (16 weeks tomorrow), it's an anterior placenta and I've been told not to expect to feel anything until 18-20 weeks.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 28/11/2017 07:59

Yes I’m shattered and still feeling sick when I exert myself so haven’t been able to do much exercise. Breasts sore again and have reached epic proportions!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 28/11/2017 08:51

noredwine my midwife said you could start to feel movement anywhere between 16 and 24 weeks, so I wouldn't worry too much. I got movements at 18 weeks with DS and feeling a few occasionally now. DH is v frustrated as they are too small to feel from the outside and he keeps trying to feel them too!

Blueberry1 · 28/11/2017 09:00

@Noredwine - I know how you feel. My 2nd scan is in 2 weeks and given how much I am expanding (3.5kg so far), I think I should feel baby move! I'm a runner so sensitive to weight gain & was concerned I was gaining too much too quickly, but midwife & checking online reassured me I am quite normal Smile. Mind you didn't stop DP cheekily saying "but how much is baby & how much is podge?" Shock

Noredwine · 28/11/2017 21:20

Thanks all! Grin

Piewraith · 30/11/2017 12:09

Haven't felt any movements here yet, I'm 16+4. Still feeling a bit nauseous at times but not as bad as it has been.

We are on our baby moon in Thailand and unfortunately it's forecast rain every day for the whole two weeks. So much for the dry season. Anyway we are enjoying it but a little sun wouldn't go astray.

Needmorehands · 30/11/2017 19:01

If it makes anyone feel better I haven't felt movements yet either, 16+2 today I think. MW couldn't find heartbeat yesterday either but she says some MWs don't even try and find it as bump is still small and can play hard to get!
Blueberry, another runner her - lapsed really! And my weight gain (haven't dared actually weigh myself!) is all podge and not bump as I'm still in normal jeans
Sorry about hte rain Pie, hope you're having a great time regardless

HerSymphonyAndSong · 30/11/2017 19:30

I was a runner but exercise is making me feel so sick that I haven’t been able to do it since I fell pregnant :(

I just survived the Work Christmas Party! That right - backache, bloating and impossibly tight tights! All washed down with a glass of orange juice. Welcome to the Christmas Season ladies. Stay strong!

CaptainsCat · 02/12/2017 08:20

I’ve just started to feel unmistakable movement the past few days, I’m 18 weeks on Monday. This is my second so was expecting to feel something earlier! Last time I felt movement a bit earlier I’m sure!

HandbagFan · 03/12/2017 12:43

This time round the placentas at the back and I felt movement while 12 weeks. Last time round I was 17 weeks for the first movements, but the placenta was at the front.

Aggy106 · 05/12/2017 07:38

Good work rainbows, glad you survived! I've got my team drinks tonight and then big Christmas party in two weeks.

I used to run too but stopped over the summer as I hurt my ankle, I've been wondering about starting again since I stopped feeling so sick but not sure it's a good idea.

Noredwine · 05/12/2017 08:19

How is everyone doing? It's gone very quiet on here! I have 20 week scan this Thursday - have been counting down the weeks and days - still no movement and no proper baby bump (only put on 4 pounds) so desperate to see pip squeak and know he/she is alright in there!

cautiousoptimist1 · 05/12/2017 09:11

I think I'm finally feeling better! Today will be the test though as my 18 month old woke up every 2 hours last night!
I still don't have a scan date and I'm now 16+3, I have a number they told me to call but it's just a voicemail and I've left a few messages but no answer yet. I'll keep chasing though as I don't want to have to go for another private scan. It was lovely but that money can be used for so much more!
nored with DD, I was wearing normal jeans and work trousers until 6 months. I lost weight BFing and so am thinner this time and have a clear bump although I've only put on 1.5kg too. At your scan on Thursday they'll show you baby moving and probably ask what you can feel, I couldn't feel anything at that stage last time but my sister realised at her scan that she had been feeling movement. Are you going to find out the sex?
