Thank you for the horrible boss advice Elvie & Aggy - Mumsnet is just so good for a vent! I will see how it plays out Monday and let you know, HR are really nice so will work with them on it if I need to! (Preying pregnancy hormones don't make me do something silly!)

Aggy, I wonder if your entitlement will change if baby is three days late and you work until after due date using holidays to get you up to it?

Love your idea of a spa weekend Noredwine, a more affordable option than a full blown babymoon but still a nice little break!

Im getting super excited about this Mat leave chat too - The count down to maternity leave is real!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 19/11/2017 16:32

Ooh mat leave talk is exciting! I'm on a fixed term contract which finishes when I'm 32 weeks. I'll have a bit of holiday accrued, which will help with money as I think I might only get statutory.

My parents have offered to have DS for a weekend before this baby arrives, so I think we get have a weekend away which is quite exciting

With original due date of 13 May (LMP), I thought I could work until end of April then take maternity leave. Then 12 week dating scan said 5 May Shock, so need to revise! Am 15-20 mins on bus from work & bus stop is really near house & office, so I'd like to work til 37 or 38 weeks assuming I feel OK to do so.

As I start a new job in January (they know!), I'll be entitled only to 39 weeks at £140 from jobcentre not new employer. I have given up university job with enhanced maternity pay (9 weeks full pay, 18 weeks half pay), but am moving to a permanent better paid (£10k+ payrise) role with better prospects, so in long term it will work out. In short term, am saving like mad as we can't manage on with me only contributing £600 a month maternity pay to household finances (that's literally my share of mortgage + bills; nothing else!). Am planning to take 6 months off, then come back to work part-time for a couple of months so baby doesn't go from full time at home to full time day care. Don't yet know if latter will be possible.

HandbagFan · 20/11/2017 08:50

Dating scan today - should be 12+4. Feeling very anxious about it. Can’t shift the idea that we can’t be lucky and sail through without an issue twice. The internet does not help the voices of doubt in your head!

Loving the mat leave talk. Parking it all in my mind until we get through today (and blood results).

All being well, might allow myself a browse of the baby section of M&S this afternoon. We’ve hardly anything to buy for a second one - feels very odd!

InRainbows · 20/11/2017 12:43

Good luck Handbagfan! Flowers

HandbagFan · 20/11/2017 14:49

All done and everything looked good. I’ve been moved forward a week so now 13+4 and due date of the 24th. Such a relief!

cautiousoptimist1 · 20/11/2017 20:02

Great news Handbagfan!

Whatamuddleduck · 22/11/2017 19:00

Yikes it's gone all quiet- has everyone gone to Facebook?
20 week scan appointment arrived today. 12 Dec, will be exactly 20 weeks!

I am happy today. Been feeling pretty down recently as baby is still tiny and yet making me pretty uncomfortable and I don't want to be pregnant and am too old to be doing this and generally having myself a quiet little pity party. But my mum came down for the day to help us blitz the house and sort stuff out (not my idea of fun but we got loads done and the house is looking better for it so I'm, mostly sort of grateful!) and she was sorting out the bookshelves in DS's bedroom and i noticed a plastic storage crate in top of the shelves which had a piece of rainbow fleece in it which i hadn't known was there. The fleece is a sling I loved carrying our DC in when they were tiny. I didn't remember handing it on to anyone else but didn't know where it had gone. Very happy that I still have it :) silly, its the little things!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 22/11/2017 21:09

I seem to be getting beaten up a lot by this baby atm - it wedges itself somewhere and pushes, which is really uncomfortable. 16 week appointment tomorrow, so feeling like another milestone reached!

Noredwine · 23/11/2017 00:21

Feeling quite anxious at moment - work has been mental and I have been rushing around a lot and not really getting much rest. Have a fat stomach but no so much of a bump. Boobs have been less sore and although now nearly 18 weeks not felt anything yet! I was told placenta is at front so that will make it harder to feel pip squeak but despite hearing heartbeat at 15 weeks I am starting to worry again. Hope 20 week scan on 7th Dec will be ok x

Aggy106 · 23/11/2017 06:26

Hi nored I'm feeling the same, no bump really yet - just fat! My placenta is at the front too so wondering when I'll start to feel the baby move. Work is busy for me too, I've had a cold and have lost my appetite so hope everything is ok with baby. I'm sure everything will be fine but it's so hard not to worry isn't it? Not long til your 20 week scan.

needsmorehands sorry you've been feeling down but sounds like you've been very productive and glad you're feeling better. I have wobbly days and then I feel guilty for feeling wobbly! Really pleased you found the sling, sounds fab!

Glad your appointment came through muddle can't believe people are nearly having their 20 week scans, feels like my 12 week scan wasn't long ago!

Sorry to to hear baby is making you feel uncomfortable tiramisu

Elvi1 · 23/11/2017 07:13

noredwine I had an anterior placenta in my first pregnancy and didn't feel any movement until 22 weeks after which point it suddenly became really frequent and obvious. I was terrified at second scan thinking things wouldn't be ok (especially cos the midwife at my 18 week appointment said 'you should start to feel something now') but amazingly there was a very active baby in there jumping up and down and I couldn't feel a thing! Try not to let fact that others can feel movement make you think you should be too. Also totally normal to worry though - god, I was constantly worrying until about 24 weeks....then I only worried every few days 😀

My next scan is sooooo far away - not until 19th Jan when I'll be 22 weeks! That's practically 2 months away.

Motherofpuppies · 23/11/2017 07:52

Made the really silly mistake this week of trying to get my diet back in order after months of morning sickness face-stuffing! Was just feeling so fat and awful and wanted to feel like I was eating healthily again. But I guess what I used to think was a healthy diet before I was pregnant is now no where near enough. It's made me so I'll.. horrible headaches and sickness, totally zapping me of new found energy. Guess it's back to stuffing my face then!!

cautiousoptimist1 · 23/11/2017 09:41

noredwine, I had an anterior placenta last time and didn't feel movement until about 23 weeks, saw baby moving on the 20 week scan and they asked if I could feel it but I couldn't. Just out of curiosity, how do you know already that it's anterior? At my scan last week (14 weeks), they said they couldn't tell yet as the uterus is still moving.

Motherofpuppies, sorry if you've already tried this but what worked for me last time was eating the same amount but spread out. So I'd have a packed lunch at work and would eat (for example), my banana at 8:30, my oranges at 10, my sandwich at 12 and my crisps at 2. Getting hungry made me feel ill so I just kept topping up, little and often worked for me last time.

BunnyFluffy · 23/11/2017 12:59

For those of you who were talking about maternity clothes (planning my maternity wardrobe has certainly provided me with a bit of light relief from the sickness) my final ebay deliveries arrived today so my maternity wardrobe is complete (apart from bras).

I've bought the following (all big brands like Isabella Oliver, JoJo Maman, Mamalicious etc so hopefully I'll be able to sell them on when I'm done with them) for the grand total of £164 (including postage). Some brand new items, most second hand but in very good condition:

2x leggings, brand new with tags (BNWT)
2x jeans
2x shorts (BNWT)
1x short sleeve Tshirt (BNWT)
2x vest tops
4x tops long sleeves (one BNWT)
6x smart dresses, mainly Isabella Oliver (needed for work)(2 are BNWT)

Anyway I'm pretty chuffed so thought I'd share. And the best thing was I didn't have the leave the house, which was important when feeling sick.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 23/11/2017 15:11

What a good haul!

It’s 25% off at new look atm and they have some nice maternity tops

HandbagFan · 23/11/2017 15:51

20% off as asos too today so I’ve bought the bits I’d wanted from there.

Noredwine · 23/11/2017 22:27

Thanks Aggy, Elvi & Cautious for your words of reassurance - really does help. I'm probably just being silly.
Cautious - the midwife said at 15 week appointment that my placenta was at the front but I didn't know uterus could still move so maybe it will change?
2 weeks tomorrow for my 20 week scan!
Think I just feel I need a rest as so tired with work as doing so much commuting and court appearances all over the shop which buggers up what little routine I have! Work Xmas do tomorrow night which I could really do without as been a very long week and could just do with leaving work on time and having a good sleep!! And busy sat at Wales v NZ game in Cardiff for hubbies birthday and a family lunch in Swansea on Sunday - so loads more bloody driving!! Aggggh Angry

cautiousoptimist1 · 24/11/2017 21:01

It's really quiet here lately.

Anyone else still feeling awful? I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and felt fine yesterday but threw up this morning as soon as I'd drank my cup of tea! Blush

Elvi1 · 24/11/2017 21:13

I'm still feeling horrible at 14 weeks too although thankfully haven't been physically sick. I've been feeling really dizzy today too.

I think a lot of people have moved over to fb. They are very friendly and chatty over there although I am probably still more likely to comment on here so I hope this doesn't fizzle out completely.

Lorz80 · 24/11/2017 22:19

Hey

I'm 13+5 and still feeling pretty rubbish. No energy, frequently dizzy, constantly tired despite sleeping a lot. Can't wait for it to come to an end so I can get back to normal life.

The fb group is lovely by the way. Lots of reassuring chat.

InRainbows · 25/11/2017 10:10

Could someone add me to the Facebook group?

Lorz80 · 25/11/2017 15:24

Let me know your email address, either on here or privately to [email protected] and I'll add you.

Whatamuddleduck · 25/11/2017 17:08

Can I be added to Facebook too please - I'll pm you.
