Hooray for a good scan Elvi - we also had issues with baby not shifting where it was supposed to, but we weren't there that long!

DH has come down with full blown flu, to the extent that he has been bedridden for days, it's so unlike him. DD and I are staying with my parents due to renovation work but are obviously now having to keep away from DH for fear of catching the flu (luckily I had the jab just last week). DD isn't allowed the jab so she's missing him dreadfully and I feel awful that I can't be there to take care of him (especially as he's living in a building site)! Also struggling myself with the extreme early starts and bedtime battles that my toddler is providing me with!

LadyPug · 11/11/2017 23:08

Thanks Elvi I know that you’re right, I think I just need to get it over with and know Baby is ok. Plus I’m blood phobic so I know I have to have that taken again too! Bleugh! Thankfully it’s then 2/3 only one left to go!

LadyPug · 11/11/2017 23:09

Oh no cathster that sounds stressful! I hope DH is ok! It must be hard being pregnant alone with a toddler though, my DH has just been away for work for a week and I really struggled!

Aggy106 · 12/11/2017 19:29

Glad she's come back whatamuddle. Our downstairs is open plan so it's hard to stop the cats going everywhere downstairs but sure we'all find a solution.

Hope the scan goes well tomorrow ladypug, sure it'll be absolutely fine.

I can report that the jeans from JoJo have arrived. I ordered a straight black pair which seem to fit and look ok and a long blue bootcut pair (im 5"9) which are a couple of inches too long for me but I have short legs so they might be ok for someone my height with long legs. They're both over the bump and the only issue is that as I have no bump yet they won't stay up but sure they'll be fine later on Does any one else think maternity jeans are weird though?

Elvi1 · 12/11/2017 21:03

cathster that sounds really tough on you on all.

Is there a Facebook group and have a lot of people joined? I didn't join the fb group in my first pregnancy as felt more comfortable talking on here....but I regretted it later on as it became very quiet on here and I missed the boat.

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/11/2017 06:51

Good luck today ladypug, it's finally here!

My NHS scan date came through for Thursday with a bold letter telling me not to cancel! So I'm seeing it as a bonus scan and I'm going to take my Mum with me.

Aggy, I find maternity jeans very odd! I didn't get the hype last time as the pair I bought were ridiculously uncomfortable and hard to get on.
This time I've bought 2 pairs of the same style in the same size just in different colours - the black pair are the perfect length but very slim fitting on the ankle, the blue pair are probably 2 inches too long but looser on the leg - almost baggy! But I finally understood the comfort thing as soon as I put the blue pair on so I'm keeping them.

Elvi, There is a FB group, it might be tiffin that can add you. I was thinking the same as its quietened down here this last week or so. My last group kept going just about but the postnatal group completely fizzled out and moved to fb.

I'm still feeling rotten and getting fed up with it now. Anyone else keep getting a dead arm?!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 13/11/2017 07:16

Morning everyone! Keep losing this thread and then browser crashes when I try to post.

Hope everyone is well. Despite being almost 15 weeks, I'm still exhausted most of the time. Fortunately, I have a day off this week, so looking forward to relaxing. Am also planning to start pregnancy yoga this week - I loved my class last time so hoping to make the most of some me time!

LadyPug · 13/11/2017 08:17

Thanks cautious eeeeek! It’s finally here! Nervous (mainly about blood taken!) leaving soon!

Blueberry1 · 13/11/2017 10:33

Hello all, I just found this thread. Am 15 weeks pregnant with 1st child, due 5th May according to 12 week scan. I didn't look pregnant (just slightly tubbier around the middle?) until 12-13 weeks then suddenly a little bump came from nowhere and I had to rush out and buy maternity clothes Shock! I'm already wearing maternity jeans, but they do slip down a bit as bump not that big yet.

I have 2nd midwife appointment tomorrow and want to check I'm not gaining too much weight (3kg already!). I'm not eating more than I did and if anything my diet is now better e.g. more fruit and I've really gone off junk (sweets, fried food etc). I'm also exercising regularly (slow 5-10km runs, cross trainer/free weights in gym, swimming, yoga). I don't appear to have gained weight anywhere other than bump & boobs. What have others found?

LadyPug · 13/11/2017 12:33

Hey everyone! Just to let you know all ok, baby is fine and measuring bang on for dates! Woo hoo! Welcome blueberry

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/11/2017 12:34

Welcome Blueberry, please don't be too worried about your weight. Some places weigh you at every appointment and will give you a guideline as to how much weight gain is normal but some don't. It sounds like you have a healthy balanced diet.
I struggled a bit last time with the idea of gaining weight as I assumed I'd struggle to lose it again. I'm slim anyway but put on 12kg during pregnancy and lost more than that breastfeeding.

This time I've only put on half a kilo so far but I have an active one year old and have been feeling rotten! I've eaten far too many sweets and bacon crisps though!

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/11/2017 12:35

Woohoo lady, great news. Glad you don't have to repeat a week Smile and are heading for the second trimester.

ChefsFloozie · 13/11/2017 12:50

Estrele looks like the 15th is a busy old day! Maybe we should start taking bets on who (if anyone??) gives birth of that day!

Congratulations Elvi and Lady, it's such a worry til you actually see the bubba bouncing around.

tiffin, think I've PMd you to join the Facebook group. I've tried anyway!

cautious How lovely that you can take your Mum, bet you're glad you did the private one though considering how long they've made you wait. No dead arms here, just hand or whole arm?

Blueberry it's very hard not to worry about weight gain but as long as you're eating healthily and exercising then that's the best thing for bubba. If it helps I found the weight dropped off after with breastfeeding (and walking for an hour every day at about 5pm because otherwise being stuck in the house with witching hour DD was hideous!)

cautiousoptimist1 · 13/11/2017 12:53

Estrele, yes I'm glad I booked the private one as it meant I could tell people confidently as I'd like to. As it happens the NHS one is just in time for the screening (I'll be 13+5) but I won't have it done again.
The dead arm is almost the whole arm - about half way between elbow and shoulder to wrist, never the hand. It comes and goes too so isn't constant and doesn't seem to be when I've just got up which I'd be able to understand.

nothinglikeithought · 13/11/2017 15:59

I'm just getting fat. Ugh. Before DD, I did loads of exercise throughout entire pregnancy, lost weight by end of first trimester due to puking and food aversions and wore my normal jeans till the last few weeks using a hairband on top button. This time, there's no time or energy for exercise and I'm an eating machine. A low point of today was the hairband keeping my jeans up snapping under the pressure!!! I'm only 13 weeks! Time to fully embrace the maternity wear...

HerSymphonyAndSong · 13/11/2017 16:45

I have a history of eating disorders so I have to be super-careful about anxiety re putting on weight. I have put on quite a lot through nausea (empty stomach = nausea; exertion = nausea) but I am hopefully coming out the other side so can be healthier for the rest of the pregnancy

Poppy012 · 13/11/2017 16:45

Trying to catch up I have missed lots on this thread!
Ahhh that’s great news on the scan @ladypug I hope you can now enjoy your pregnancy with a little less worry :)
I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow so hopefully get to hear the heartbeat Grin
Definatley have a bump now but felt no movements as of yet.

LadyPug · 13/11/2017 18:42

Thank you Poppy feel so much better!

Estrele · 13/11/2017 20:48

Welcome Blueberry ! lol re just suddenly growing ...I have just been away for 5 days and came back and DH was in shock with how much I had grown.... nothinglike I gave up on my jeans after the other weekend when i couldnt even do up the flies! Got some leggings from H&M but today tried on the most comfortable pair of jeans by Isabella :)

cautious that is really bizarre .... I have only ever had the bottom half and hand go dead... I would say something to you MW or Dr if it persists xx

Ladypug that is great news :)) so glad everyone seems to be having great scans!

Tiffin I PMd you as well hopefully for the FB group.

Noredwine · 13/11/2017 21:25

Congrats on scan Ladypug!
Welcome Blueberry - very impressed with all your exercising! You have so much energy compared to me!

Some good news for me - had midwife appointment this morning and got to hear heart beat even though pip squeak underneath my placenta. Also found out my due date was brought forward after 12 week NHS scan by 5 days (no one had told me!!) so my due date is now 29 April and I have jumped from 15.5 weeks to 16 and a day!! You guys are not getting rid of me though! Expect I will be late anyway! Relieved to hear heart beat as still worrying pip squeak not there so really pleased to hear him/her even though sound muffled by my placenta and fat roll! Still no proper bump to speak of and no real weight gain. X

Elvi1 · 13/11/2017 22:01

Thanks cautiousoptimist1 - I will try to send tiffin a message about the fb group. And what a lovely thing to share with your mum!

Thanks Chefsfloozie - it was a big relief!

Hi blueberry and congratulations ladypug!! I bet you are so relieved.

Anyway else feeling really sick still? Had really hoped that nausea would have passed by now. I really hope this doesn't continue throughout pregnancy. Had no sickness with my first so have nothing to compare it to.

ImGoingForATwix · 13/11/2017 22:17

Hi, can I join? And on Facebook too? I've been lurking a bit as I'm due right at the end of May so wasn't sure what group to join but I see there are some other late May due dates here too and as I've gone early with dc1 and dc2, so May seems about right. I'm 12 weeks with dc3. Still feeling the nausea.... 🤢

Poppy012 · 14/11/2017 06:46

@Nored we are due date buddies 😁 ah it’s great you got to hear the heartbeat I have my appointment today so hopefully I can aswell!

Kirstipops · 14/11/2017 07:12

Yay Ladypug and Elvi for the good scans! Welcome blueberry! I'm v impressed with your exercising too, I've had motion sickness just pootling after my toddler so I haven't been able to face the idea of any exercise! I'm 15 weeks on Friday and sickness is fading now so hoping to take up Pilates again. Due to pelvic pain last time I wasn't able for much more than swimming and Pilates, hoping it doesn't rear it's head soon!
whatamuddle I'm so glad your cat came back, I'd be beside myself if mine went missing!

Noredwine · 14/11/2017 07:23

Yay Poppy! Hope appointment with midwife goes well.
Apparently they recommend mums to be get the whooping cough vaccine to pass on to baby in womb and for 6 months after birth but you can't have it until 25 weeks and have to arrange with GP. Anyone else had this before? Anyone had bad side effects from vaccine?
