Hooray Floozie

MotherOfBoy · 07/11/2017 19:25

Just joining the jeans discussion... I am 5’3 and nowhere seems to after for short pregnant people!!! Last time I got jeggings and had to roll the bottoms up and then use a kilt pin to hold the over bump bit tight enough as was way too long in the body. Notice ASOS now do petite maternity so have ordered some of their jeans to try - fingers crossed! So annoying as had to do same with leggings and roll bottoms up as nowhere did petite maternity, such a ridiculous problem to have. Of course short people get pregnant too haha!

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/11/2017 20:32

Glad all went well for you too floozie although we're no longer due date buddies!

I'm still feeling rubbish. Anyone else the same and also past 12 weeks? I had my flu jab today which probably hasn't helped.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/11/2017 04:37

I have stopped the folic acid now (I am 14 weeks) and feel a lot better for it

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 08/11/2017 05:06

I'm 5 foot 1 motherofboy and most of my maternity stuff came off eBay last time, as it was the only place I could reliably find petite maternity clothes. I rarely wear skirts or dresses, so was a bit stuck last time!

Aggy106 · 08/11/2017 07:30

There's a flash sale on Isabella Oliver clothes on a flash sale site called Brand Alley if anyone is interested www.brandalley.co.uk

cautious I felt horrid too after my flu jab, definately didn't help!

Why is it so hard to get decent maternity clothes? Everyone seems to be having problems.

Gyoza · 08/11/2017 07:40

heard a lot of good things about topshop jeans it discovered my local store doesn’t have an in store maternity department anymore and totally sold out online. Grrr. If anyone is looking for tops and dresses Cos is good for stuff that’s quite roomy but not designed as maternity wear, I got a few tops that Look good without a bump and seem to have lots of space for expansion!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 08/11/2017 07:43

I think I may have to plan a trip to Westfield this week to look at maternity stuff. H&M definitely had a maternity section when I was there a month ago and topshop did two years ago (loved their under bump jeans last time, but I’ve now expanded and they just fall down!). It’s annoying how few places stock stuff in store though isn’t it.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/11/2017 08:24

Are you mad??! Pregnant women don’t live outside London!!

ChefsFloozie · 08/11/2017 09:07

cautious be interesting to see actual due dates. If Pongo comes that early I'll eat my hat! Also still feeling a bit poo. Projectile vomited my dinner last night and still knackered at the end of the day. Hopefully things will improve soon.

Great tip aggy, been invited to a wedding at the end of December, had a look to see if there was a bargain but only pretty one in my size was in black. That's a no no for a wedding right?!

I've got a denim skirt from seraphine which is fantastic, again a bit expensive though. John Lewis in bluewater have a small but fairly well stocked maternity section if it's any use to anyone!

LadyPug · 08/11/2017 09:23

Hey floozie I’ve seen lots of black at winter weddings, I think it’s fine. Maybe check with the bride but I think it’s pretty common to wear black evening wear to weddings now!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 08/11/2017 09:29

I have a wedding in Feb, although I have a nice dress for weddings last time I was pregnant that I could wear. It’s this one actually www.blossomingbump.com/rock-a-bye-rosie-pink-chiffon-and-sequin-lara-maternity-dress/

Not sure if it’s very February wedding though!!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/11/2017 10:13

My brother is getting married in February - I think I might ask for a nice dress as a Christmas present, especially as I have other weddings in the summer when I might be breastfeeding, so if I get a maternity/nursing one it could work for both

HerSymphonyAndSong · 08/11/2017 10:14

Remember it can get v hot indoors at winter weddings, so you might want a short sleeved dress with layers on top just in case

ChefsFloozie · 08/11/2017 11:31

Oh that's so pretty tiffin, and lovely for February.

See I thought black might be ok but DH was surprisingly adamant it wasn't. Although symphony has a really good point about temperature, I'm running really hot at the mo and the pretty dress has 3/4 length sleeves. Strike that off the list then!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 08/11/2017 12:35

Good point about being hot - I was boiling in the later stages of pregnancy! Hopefully I can still fit into it 🤞🏻

willisurvive3under2 · 08/11/2017 12:53

Hi everyone,

I've been trawling eBay for maternity stuff. Also a friend of mine gave me a big bag of stuff but quite a lot of it is too big for me (although I might think differently once the twins start expanding). If anyone would like any bits in sizes 16/18 please drop me a message and I would be glad to send stuff on.

I have been so so sick - GP now prescribed Cyclizine which I stubbornly don't want to take as it makes me sleepy and useless. I have started doing acupuncture which seems to be helping a tad.

This is me this morning - I don't think I've been this small since before getting pregnant with DS - I'm 14 weeks and there's 2 in there, I really hope I can start eating something soon, it's really getting me down. Twin 2 is a little too small according to the consultant, so they're scanning me again at the end of November. This pregnancy is going to be very medicalised compared to my previous experience - I don't actually mind that much, hopefully seeing the babies often will help me relax.

I hope everyone start feeling better soon.

MotherOfBoy · 08/11/2017 13:32

doublechocolate I have a wedding in February too! I have found a dark purple pleated dress on ASOS for £35 I think I will her and wear with thick tights and a big cardi/shawl

Think I will be resorting to rolling up my leggings then!

nothinglikeithought · 08/11/2017 13:32

@willisurvive- I'm sure you'll put weight on soon. There's no way of not worrying is there- too much weight/ not putting any on. Really hope the horrible sickness goes away for you soon though....

I had my first scan this morning. All good and due date has been confirmed for 21st May making me 12+2. Midwife at last week's booking appt. suggested I was a week behind the dates I was working from so pleased she was wrong! Didn't want to have to re-do a week of this first trimester!!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 08/11/2017 13:41

willisurvive I’m sorry that you are still feeling so sick - it must be horrible. Has the GP explored all the different anti sickness medications? I just wonder if something else might be better for you. On the plus side though, you look amazing (I long for the days of not being far too fat). Don’t worry about being slim, the babies will be taking all the food they need which is probably why you’ve lost weight. Your body is an amazing way of prioritising them, they will be looked after in there.

motherofboy sounds like a fab outfit. I’ll accessorise closer to the time I think - when I know a bit more what shape I’ll be.

nothinglike lovely news that your scan went well and that you are on track with your dates.

LadyPug · 08/11/2017 16:04

Hey willisurvive I’ve been worried too as I haven’t put on much weight (only having the one though) but apparently it’s common and we’ll make up for it in second trimester. Already my appetite is loads better now than a few weeks ago.

Hey nothinglikeithought we’re due date twins except my scan isn’t until next week and they also think I’m a week behind that but I know I’m not so I hope they don’t put me back a week! Like you, I couldn’t bear to do any more first trimester weeks!

Kirstipops · 08/11/2017 17:04

Had my scan this afternoon too, it's moved my due date forward by a week, so I'm allegedly 13+5 now (I still think I'm closer to 12+5 tho), the detail was amazing though, seeing her/him raise her arm and flex her fingers in reaction to the sonographer pressing down was so cute, god it all feels so real now. Not sure when or how I'll tell my daughter (she's 3). She likes babies but her idea of time is still developing, she keeps asking if Christmas is tomorrow for example!!

cautiousoptimist1 · 08/11/2017 18:07

Congratulations kirstipops, lovely scan. It's such a relief isn't it seeing them all wriggly?

We are decorating this week and I'm feeling so sluggish and slow. I have an awesome DH who's happy to do it all but I want to contribute although I think I'm slowing things down Hmm.

I had a lovely lace maternity dress last time for a wedding at 35 weeks. It was from Dorothy Perkins so worth checking there for all you ladies with weddings coming up. I am a bridesmaid at a February wedding so hope my dress will fit! It's a lace up back so hopefully quite forgiving.

MotherOfBoy · 08/11/2017 18:57

Good news - petite maternity jeans from ASOS fit! We’ll bump band is about a cm too long for me but I reckon when bump is huge it’ll be ok. Length in leg is good and they don’t fall down so counting as a success! Hurrah! I may buy another three pairs 😂

notmumsy · 08/11/2017 19:19

This is a great thread and pleased to have found it! I am due end of May / beginning of June 2018, if all goes to plan. It's agonising waiting for 12 week scan isn't it?! To the lady who mentioned spotting, try not to worry, it's very common in pregnancy. I had some around 8 weeks and was really worried; so booked an early scan and all was very good, strong heartbeat etc and then it stopped overnight. 2 GPs have confirmed spotting is common and not a concern, unless it gets heavy and /or is bright red. Wishing all you ladies the best of luck with your 12 week scans.
