I'm getting some niggles and I've come to my mums for a sandwich and put a pad on. Seem to be getting spurts of liquid rather than a big gush in one go. I will call the hospital in a bit as I know there's some 24hr rule for waters for infection etc. I just hope I get some proper contractions and progress !

PingusMistress · 19/10/2017 13:42

Ooh exciting @asilikeit ! Spurts sounds like maybe baby is blocking some of the waters and they are just coming out with contractions, you might get a big splash when baby moves!

Is it just an urban myth that some shops will give you free baby stuff if your waters go when you are there? I’ve spent a lot of time in John Lewis and mothercare recently, just in case...

Exciting asilikeit! Is it just John Lewis where you get freebies if your waters go in store. Or is that an urban myth! Thinking about it I'm not sure how you'd go about proving it or that it'd be worth the embarrassment!

Thanks everyone, luckily phone is still functional though a bit hard to see the screen properly. Ironically I upgraded to this one so I could take nicer pictures of baby! Been getting stabbing pains for weeks, think it's just baby's head hitting a nerve!

Back from hospital, all booked in for a c section on Monday, so at least I know baby will be here by then. It's hard trying to adjust to idea of having a section while still being mentally prepared for labour to start at any moment. My last section was horrible but I'm telling myself it's a different hospital and the chances of anything as bad happening this time are tiny. Bloody hell though the hospital was horrendously hot! Dread to think what the post natal ward is like.

mummabubs really hope things go well for you tomorrow. Someone I know is the most earth mother type (trained hypnobirthing consultant) and had to have an induction. She found it a positive experience and doesn't seem to have any regrets. Will be thinking of you x

TippetyTapWriter · 19/10/2017 13:43

X-post pingu! I live near a mothercare, maybe I could just dash over the road at the first sign!

mummabubs · 19/10/2017 14:08

Thank you @TippetyTapWriter , I needed to hear that! I'm trying to stay calm and collected 😊

@pollybythesea Believe it or not I was due on the 7th- so am now term+12 (or 41+5). Honestly didn't think I'd be one of the last left here even though my mum's history of long gestations should have given me a heads up!! 🙈

Oh wow; that definitely sounds like it's all starting for you @asilikeit! Will be thinking of you over the next 24 hours and awaiting news! 😁😬

PingusMistress · 19/10/2017 15:44

Great minds think alike @TippetyTapWriter ! Wink

Hi!

Anyone else STILL pregnant? I’m now three days over! Not actually that bothered or uncomfortable just wish people would stop trying to get this baby out of me! One more person gives me a ‘top tip’ I’m going to 🌋 Grin

asilikeit · 19/10/2017 19:39

Well waters have gone and are continuing to leak- contracting fairly regularly but not for a minute each time. Heading home from hospital now but need to go back at 11am tomorrow and if not dilated then off for a section! Slightly anxious now!

xflipflopx · 19/10/2017 20:28

Great news asilikeit I would be bricking it too but one more day and your babes is here Smile
tame i know what you mean every time my phone goes off I don’t want to read it as I’m gona have to say the same thing again.
The question ‘how you feeling?’ arrgghhhh Angry

butterybean · 19/10/2017 20:44

Hey! I'm still pg Smile

Was due on Tuesday but feels like it could be another week. Not bothered as feeling fine and DP and I have shit loads of work on and I'm in temp accom while our house is being finished.

How many are still to go?

PingusMistress · 19/10/2017 21:01

I reckon there are maybe 8-10 of us left. I’m not due until 28th but they don’t want me to go overdue, so expecting induction end of next week if I haven’t popped yet.

(Damned autocorrect just changed popped to pooped - glad I spotted that one!)

You will do great whatever happens @asilikeit , contractions are good, trust your body and good luck!

Very much still pregnant here @tamepanda, and I'm 12 days 'overdue'! I feel I've perfected the mildly squinty erratic eyeball look when people offer me yet more 'helpful' advice as to how to get labour started... because clearly it's all my fault that baby is wanting to stay in and grow a little more!! 😂

gracey1 · 19/10/2017 23:07

Still pregnant over here too!!

Went for a sweep today and was then referred to hospital as blood pressure was high and I’m very swollen on hands and feet. All is well and it reduced overtime but no progress since sweep and Midwife wasn’t hopeful anything would happen due to position of cervix.

Looks like I’m heading for induction on Monday which I’m gutted about but a means to an end if

pollybythesea · 20/10/2017 05:33

Still here too, no more symptoms after losing plug the other day Confused i don't mind waiting but everyone in my phone does ! X

xflipflopx · 20/10/2017 07:41

Good luck today @mummabubs!
Will be thinking of you

tamepanda · 20/10/2017 08:04

@mummabubs that’s the worst! I was 12 days over with DD1, and was bullied into being induced. It wasn’t a pleasant experience! She turned up eventually towards the end of the next day.

I’ve made it really clear that I will not be agreeing to be induced this time unless it is medically necessary (I’m ill or baby is ill).

boxesoffrogs · 20/10/2017 08:24

mummabubs, obviously it's your fault, you have made baby too cosy in there! Thinking of you.

Got 40 week check up with midwife today. Hopefully she will give me some options for what will happen next, seeing as this child is showing no signs of wanting to shift any time soon.

Come on babies!!!!

TippetyTapWriter · 20/10/2017 08:47

Good luck today asilikeit and mummabubs!

Just realised today is the last day where it'll just be me and ds. Feel I should take him out somewhere for a special treat, last bit of quality one on one time.

mummabubs · 20/10/2017 10:54

Thanks ladies, still waiting to hear from the hospital about when to go in but will give them a call as instructed if I haven't heard by 11:30. Enjoy your last solo day with DS Tippety, funnily enough was the same with my 'first born furry son' (FBFS) aka the dog last night! He's currently lying next to me without a clue that the house isn't going to be same ever again after I pop out today! 😬

Hopefully I have a more positive experience than you did @tamepanda. I'm happy to give the pessary a go and am going to ask if there's any chance of me having the one room with a birthing pool when things get going as apparently the one on the cons unit rarely gets used as most people can't use it... I know my odds of it being free are slim but the possibility that it might is keeping me going right now!

mummabubs · 20/10/2017 10:55

And good luck @asilikeit! Hope things are progressing well 😊

SophieGiroux · 20/10/2017 11:39

Not sure if it'll help but I found sitting on the toilet really sped things up when I was having far apart contractions. Think the position really helps as it brings baby down. My mucus plug came out in one go, it was a huge pile of jelly (tmi!), I felt like my waters were going although this was later confirmed not to be. The pressure was relieved a lot though and contractions suddenly went from every 10 min to 3-5 min. Then she was born less than 90 min later!

GimbleInTheWabe · 20/10/2017 12:21

Thinking of all of you ladies and keeping up to date on this thread during night feeds. You’ll be on the other side so soon!

mummabubs · 20/10/2017 13:09

Hadn't heard anything so called the hospital- they still want me to come in now but have already warned me that as they're so busy all indications are on hold at the moment so I should be prepared to not be induced today...

And so the wait continues! 🙈

xflipflopx · 20/10/2017 13:29

Oh @mummabubs how frustrating maybe all this waiting your contractions might start and no need for induction.
Fingers crossed for you. I wouldn’t want to be started off on a super busy ward anyway so maybe best to wait and then midwives will be around more. Your head must be all over the place .
I started having pains last night that were picking up in intensity I managed to fall asleep eventually and woke up with nothing. Due date not till Monday so would be super lucky to go early but think I was mentally preparing for a baby sooner rather than later and now nothing.

mummabubs · 20/10/2017 15:40

Bless you @xflipflopx, I had a couple of promising starts that didn't come to fruition at all :/

We've been here 2 hours and so far I've pissed in a pot, they've taken my blood and they've literally just hooked me up to a monitor! The poor woman in the bed opposite me has been here waiting for induction since yesterday morning 😱 On the plus the lovely midwife I've been allocated seems fairly optimistic that I might be induced today as I'm high up the priority list, but then she did talk me through how it can take up to 3 days for things to get going! 😩😩 Hopefully Bubbabean won't fall into that category!
