Well..... no 4th sweep for me today! I'm kind of relived and disappointed in equal measure. Midwife has said to go back Friday if I really want one but they don't want to keep giving me intervals when they don't need to as they know I will only go 10 days max over.

I think I just need to be patient I guess!

Also getting lots of stabby pains in cervix and still loosing plug so I'm just going to take them as good signs!

What I really need is some good sleep! Not getting any at all! Urgh!

asilikeit · 18/10/2017 14:29

Ahhh@mummabubs we posted at the same time. Walk walk walk! If I had the energy it's what I would be doing!

mummabubs · 18/10/2017 14:52

Never @asilikeit ... today was clearly not the day for sweeps!! I'm 11 days overdue now so only have 48 hours left to avoid induction so I doubt it would have done much anyway. I've also lost a lot of mucus plug in the last 24 hours- which the midwife tried to say was a really good sign that things are starting but then I pointed out that people lose their plug at 36 weeks and it regrows... and she conceded it might not be as guaranteed a good sign as she'd just led me to believe! Urgh, come on baby... we've all had enough of waiting now!!! Hope your pains become "productive" as it were! 😊 x

TippetyTapWriter · 18/10/2017 14:58

Oh no! Sorry you had all that waiting for nothing! Let's hope it's the story of going into labour the night before/morning of your induction. I hear it so often!

I've been walking miles every day and had shooting pains for weeks but it's clearly been doing sweet fa. Oh well. I feel somewhat calmer now I can see an end in sight. Resigned rather than happy.

mummabubs · 18/10/2017 15:18

I share your sentiments Tippety! We all have to stop being pregnant at some stage I'm sure!!

Bobbiepin · 18/10/2017 15:53

Oh girls I wish I could say something to make your days better, sounds like today has been tough. I'm waiting for the midwife now, was out with NCT friends, I swear we were surrounded by little babies and we all still have bumps!

boxesoffrogs · 18/10/2017 16:52

Oh dear, as bobbie says, it doesn't sound like it's been a great day all round... fingers crossed for you all that things get moving really really soon!

Just found out the last friend expecting who was due the same day as me had her baby on Friday. Feeling left behind, but then again, I am not as far as you guys, still 4 days til due date, so really I shouldn't grumble.

mummabubs I hope your walk with the dog is calming, I've just got home with a very muddy doglet who had a great time dragging me about and giving me the slip chasing squirrels. I am in no fit state to be running after her! But it's lovely to get out in the fresh air, even if it is eerily misty. Properly autumn now!

Done lots of baby washing and realised I only have five newborn short sleeved vests, and for some reason I have now become fixated with the fact that I need some more right now this instance. Then I realise I have no idea how to dress a tiny baby, do the vests go under the sleep suits? Do they even wear sleep suits in the day? Which way round do the nappies go on? And so on and so forth. Panicking a bit now that I really am still as clueless as I was nearly nine months ago! I shall be the laughing stock of the maternity ward when my poor child has a nappy on her head, back to front vests under three sleep suits and odd socks on (do babies even wear socks - argggghhh!) see? Totally clueless.

xflipflopx · 18/10/2017 16:52

Oh ladies that’s awful for you.
Hang on in there won’t be long now...eat some really crap food put on a soppy film and just chill.
This will be a distant memory soon. Flowers

asilikeit · 18/10/2017 17:32

@mummabubs with my little
Boy I lost my plug over 24 hours the day before my induction.... I started contracting but didn't progress at all so had to go on the drip which wasn't great I won't lie! But hopefully if your loosing plug your contractions might start! Fingers crossed for you!

Bobbiepin · 18/10/2017 17:33

do the vests go under the sleep suits? Do they even wear sleep suits in the day? Which way round do the nappies go on?

Chill out @boxes! Vests go under everything, including sleepsuits, especially for winter babies. They should generally have one more layer than you but for sleeping if you're using a gro bag or baby is warm they can go without the vest.

Babies will wear whatever you want them too. Sleepsuits all day everyday if you want! I've barely got anything that's not a baby grow at the moment, they are quick and easy and comfy (most important). You try getting leggins (or worse, jeans) on a baby after a nappy change!!

Nappies usually have a design or cute cartoons on the front. If not, the sticky tabs go from the back to the front. Tbh I'm not sure if it really makes a difference though. Most also have a really useful little coloured strip that changes colour when they are wet.

Anything else? Grin

xflipflopx · 18/10/2017 18:07

you do make me laugh @boxesoffrogs
You’ll be fine...it’s all a learning curve...motherhood all together... your a day ahead of me wonder who’ll go first?
@mummabubs and @asilikeit you are definitely next in the queue and can’t wait to see your updates.

boxesoffrogs · 18/10/2017 18:42

Haha! I was sort of joking! I am sure I'll figure it out... great news about the nappies though, clearly designed for idiots like me 😂

xflipflopx race ya? If you beat me I'll be annoyed!

If anyone is interested, they have a sale on in Tesco on baby clothes (got some short sleeved vests - pack of five for a fiver, and many other bargains to be had). Also doing their baby event so lots of wipes and nappies etc. Excellent.

Bobbiepin · 18/10/2017 18:46

@boxes I wasn't sure but I didn't want to laugh just in case! I actually got out the house today, been taking it super easy since contractions started on the weekend and now I'm knackered. No idea how I'm gonna get out of bed for my scan in the morning.

PingusMistress · 18/10/2017 19:37

@boxesoffrogs that reminds me of when we first brought DD home. It took me and DH 15 minutes to change her nappy between us! I’ve no idea what we were doing all that time (mainly coping with DH freaking out about poo I think)!

pollybythesea · 18/10/2017 21:16

40+3 today here and just had "the show" along with an increase in BH, could things be imminent?? Who knows! I keep thinking of things I meant to do and haven't before baby came and now I'm too tired so just chilling with a roaring fire trying to get the oxytocin flowing... thinking of others not knowing what's happening... I was not prepared for such an unsettling time! It's surreal

xflipflopx · 18/10/2017 22:05

Sounds promising @pollybythesea
Good luck!
Whilst in the shower this evening I had a thought when you call the labour ward and say I think I’m in labour and they say ‘have a nice long bath’ then see how you feel. (Everyone I know has been told to have a bath)
What about if you don’t have a bath? I mean like in your house only a shower.
I have one luckily but just crossed my mind and now thinking what do you do? Go to family I suppose.
Weird pregnancy brain Confused working overtime.

TippetyTapWriter · 19/10/2017 07:36

Good luck polly!

flipflop I do have a bath but very much doubt I'd be able to get in or out of it!

Managed to get my rings off with some washing up liquid and lots of twisting. Phew. Was worried they'd have to cut them off.

Hope everyone has a better day today, though mine has started with super painful stabbing pains and ds smashing the screen of my phone!

boxesoffrogs · 19/10/2017 08:13

Good luck polly, hope things are underway!

xflipflopx you made me laugh with your bath ponderings! Strange what things we obsess over - I was wide awake at 3am because I was trying to figure out the point of a compass showing magnetic north... I mean why??? Surely a) compasses are outdated and b) all maps have North on them at the top anyway, so why would you need to know? Arghhh, kept me awake for a good hour and a half. Pretty sure pregnancy has addled my brain.

What's everyone up to today? Been up for an hour with the dog, and feeling really restless and like I should be do something, but I am not sure what...

boxesoffrogs · 19/10/2017 08:14

And oh no tippety, not a good start! Just think, things can only get better, right?

Bobbiepin · 19/10/2017 10:48

@tippety hopefully those stabby pains are about to turn into something more positive and useful. I have nothing but sympathy for the phone though.

Had another scan this morning after the reduced movements on Sunday. Everything looks good, despite my mind running away with endless horrific possibilities. Baby is estimated at 8lbs 4oz already, with a week left to go and her legs are measuring off the scale! I'm starting to think the first size baby grows we have arent going to get much use!

PingusMistress · 19/10/2017 11:15

Glad your scan went well @Bobbiepin . I think it is quite hard to estimate how much baby weighs from a scan so try not to get too worried about what they said. DD ended up being 1.5 pounds lighter than the scan predicted. And she fitted in first size baby grows up to about 10 pounds (it depends on the brand though).

@TippetyTapWriter your day can only get better, right? Hope you can get your phone screen mended quickly, it is so annoying when that happens, and I’m sure you will want it to take lots of baby pics.

Sounds promising @pollybythesea , any progress today?

No sign of bubba putting in an appearance here. I’m feeling very lazy and can’t be bothered to do anything today, my nesting instinct has definitely tailed off!

mummabubs · 19/10/2017 11:27

Oooo polly and Tippety it sounds like things may be moving along for you both! Fingers crossed :)

Think I've decided to accept induction tomorrow. Definitely feeling a bit emotionally blackmailed into it (choice phrases yesterday made it clear that although I can "technically" choose to decline it wouldn't be wise because of A,B,C etc". I haven't given them a firm decision yet but I've now read a lot of accounts of people declining induction and being made to feel so guilty for doing so that they actually found the interim monitoring upsetting and stressful, which doesn't sound like fun either! I know logically if bean comes within the next 24 hours I can stick to original birth plan but I'm also accepting this seems somewhat unlikely and am spending today putting things in place for tomorrow... the end is hopefully in sight for me at long last!

asilikeit · 19/10/2017 11:58

I think my waters have started leaking - in the middle of Marks and Spencer! Blush

Bobbiepin · 19/10/2017 12:15

Thanks @pingusmistress, I hope you're right. With a week left I don't know if I could push out a 9lb baby!

@asilikeit that's so exciting! Maybe not the best place but could be worse. At least people in M&S (hopefully) won't think you've pissed yourself!

pollybythesea · 19/10/2017 12:19

How far along are you mummabus? Can relate to not wanting to be induced. I guess just stay strong and remember the guilt trips will be temporary.

No news here except more mucus this morning and BH but nothing new except that. Keep reading things that say it can be weeks not just hours or days. Think I'm in for the long haul! 😂

Love the compass/magnetic north anxiety!! Ohhh our poor brains...
