Please note that I have now changed my name as the bag is packed (kind of) and the baby clothes are folded up and put into the drawers. Can't believe all his newborn clothes are so small they only take up half a drawer!!

From an April 2006 mummy - very best of luck to you all!

Katy44 · 06/04/2007 17:20

I have been folding baby clothes all afternoon - I genuinely couldn't get another thought out of my brain!

Birdiebump · 06/04/2007 17:23

Who is MMK's buddy? Wasn't she supposed to have a c-section on 5th??

Lovely and sunny here in Devon all day but feeling cross cos' I'm too huge to make the most of it!

Well done for finally packing your bag Katy! I still have to get some dextrose sweets and stuff - maybe will take mini eggs if it all kicks off in the next couple of days (deeply unlikely...).

What was the thread title complaint this time???

octo · 06/04/2007 17:23

Thanks Katy

The ocntractions have stopped again! Might go and refold all my baby clothes again! and think about dinner dh not impressed by my suggestion of jacket potato - may go get curry or chinese

EllieKthePA · 06/04/2007 17:27

one bloody hour away and they start.
i can see their point but whhhhhhhhhhy can't they just leave us be?

claricebean · 06/04/2007 17:27

Hi everyone. Well bump and I are still here. It's a new experience for me as I've never been overdue before. The haemmorrhoids, Jim and Gemma, have finally settled down now, so am beginning to think that baby should really get a move on now. I have had very intense bh's all day, but no real contractions yet. The rest of my household have gone to watch the Easter processions here (v big spectacle in Spain), but I am chilling here as I don't want to antagonise aforementioned Jim and G!! Shame because a brisk walk is probably just what I need.

Congrats to Yvie. I think I've said well done to the other recent mums. Hope life with your newborns is going well.

octo · 06/04/2007 17:28

??? Is that inlaws or mners?!

Katy44 · 06/04/2007 17:28

Birdiebump - you mean you haven't got your dextrose sweets yet? You are SO disorganised!!
mammyjo - as far as I know, we're still waiting to hear the name of Yvie's LO. Glad everything is going well for you.
octo - fold them again?? Once was enough for me, I used to hate ironing so I stopped, now I just hate folding clothes. Soon I'll hate washing them, then wearing them...

Katy44 · 06/04/2007 17:29

cb - glad Jim and Gemma are losing weight

octo · 06/04/2007 17:30

Well - you do need to decide which order you want them to wear them in

claricebean · 06/04/2007 17:32

Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't iron, Katy. Life's too short.

EllieKthePA · 06/04/2007 17:32

have sent an email but will tell you here too, i may not be on for a while, i am sick of them getting at us. there are lots of titles that could cause offence to some people. but it's always antenatal they get at.

can't be here anymore but will keep up email updates.

sorry

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/04/2007 17:32

Hiya ladies - new mummies and those waiting patiently - or not so patiently!
Hope you are all having a lovely day. It is beautiful here darn sarf!!

So, no Good Friday babes yet??

We spent the day at a fantastic park where they have a steam train, play park etc. and met up with a school friend who was down from London. We have known each other for 25 years!! Makes me feel ancient - I suppose I am really.

It was a great day, but did too much standing up, and as there were no picnic tables had to sit on the ground which was v uncomfortable.

Now back home and Becky, Andrej and I are going to go and have an early tea somewhere.

Also, could do with some advice - totally non pregnant related. I may post this somewhere else as well.

B often plays with a group of 9/10 year olds, 2 of whom are Indian. One of the girls came up to me, and said that when they had asked Becky whether she liked Jade and Jess, she said yes, but when asked if she liked Nikita and Ajay, she said no. Apparently Nikita was upset, which is fair enough, but my thoughts are that B is not even 4 fgs, and wouldn't have a clue about race discrimination. She has always mucked in with everyone and has an Indian friend at preschool. I was/am a bit taken aback, as Jade was insinuating (sp?) that B was being racist. I explained that B wouldn't have meant anything by it, that I was sorry if it had upset Nikita and that B often tells me she doesn't like me!

I am still however a bit wound up by it.

Thoughts??

Katy44 · 06/04/2007 17:32

We had great fun picking the clothes we would take into hospital! I thought DH would be bored stupid and leave it all to me, but he was really into it.
I have no fashion sense whatever - does it matter if his vest clashes with his sleepsuit that also clashes with his coat-thing? Will the hospital call SS?

octo · 06/04/2007 17:35

I felt like that last week EllieK - took a few days away to get it out of my head! Will email you xoxoxo

SOSPL - hope you are okay - I would be a bit cross - B is so tiny fgs - have a good rant, get it off your chest and forget about them - not worth it.

Birdiebump · 06/04/2007 17:36

Well DH and I are going to a little dinner party tonight so I am off to have a bath and try to smarten up. No summery outfits that don't make me resemble an enormous Easter Egg so not holding out much hope....

Clarice... you poor thing - mine have sort of gone away I think - haven't checked too closely. But at least your big day can't be too far away?

Octo - nice hot curry - I may go for one of those tomorrow....

Katy44 · 06/04/2007 17:37

SOSPL- that souds very odd to me! Is that how they phrased the question (with those groupings)? If so, why? I find it very hard to believe that a 4 yo can be genuinely racist unless their parents are (and I assume you're not otherwise you wouldn't be bothered ) it sounds as though the 9/10 yos are stirring up trouble - in a really horrible way. Can understand why you're upset though, can you talk to B about it, or do you think that will make a mountain out of a molehill?

octo · 06/04/2007 17:37

Ahhh yes Katy - the vest has to go with the sleepsuit, hat, socks and coat! Although not planning on taking a coat for Ernie as he has a car seat snuggle thing which will keep him warm.

I often wonder what the babies think when they come out - must be completely freaked out - then this person dresses you up in clothes - no wonder newborns cry alot!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/04/2007 17:40

Katy, I agree, talk about setting her up. We are not racist in the slightest.
I will talk to B about it - just explain that we should be friends with everyone irrespective of what colour they are, as we don't want to upset people.

I feel really quite upset about it. Dh is out for a run. I'll have a chat with him and see what he thinks too.

claricebean · 06/04/2007 17:41

SOSPL - I agree with octo. DD2, who's 4, can change her mind daily (at least) about who she likes and dislikes. At that age they just accept others' differences. Easiest just to let it pass you by, I think.

Ellie - sorry about the thread title thing. I didn't see any comments but can imagine how annoying it must be. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 06/04/2007 17:43

Octo, you are right - they must wonder what the hell is going on being put in to nappies, etc etc after being so free!

I really struggled with packing for the baby. We are pretty sure it is a girl from the scan/sonographer lady, but I keep wobbling and have ended up just packing white things just in case she turns out to be a he!! We didn't know what sex B was which almost made it easier!

AitchTwoOh · 06/04/2007 17:45

good luck all you lovely pregnant ladies. all the eggs on legs getting ready to hatch in time for easter...

octo · 06/04/2007 17:45

We are having a boy but I do harbour secret fantasies of it being a girl!!! so all our stuff is blue or white!
