Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dundeemarmalade · 20/04/2007 16:44

lucy - sounds like i'm going to have to wait as long - it feels like months and months and months away.
just phone gp to get results of pg test they insist i do, only to be told that nurse didn't send it off to the lab . this is the second one i've handed over - they threw the 1st one away cos it was in a bottle with a red top not a white top (makes all the difference apparently). feel to sick to go in this pm, so won't be able to get another bottle til monday, and then will have to wait until tuesday to hand it in, cos they also demand 1st sample of day. i feel like marching in brandishing a trusty clearblue digital and doing the test for them.
just found out from antenatal unit that my booking in appt won't be until after 1st scan, which will be end of may, so i'm basically on my own for the whole of the 1st trimester. does this happen in other parts of the country?

Nbg · 20/04/2007 17:59

Dundee, the norm is usually you see the MW around 8 weeks, 12 week scan and that is sometimes accompanied with an appt with a MW or consultant, then an antenatal appt at 15/16 weeks, then 24 weeks.
When you get to 30 weeks, the appts are usually every fortnight providing all is well.

FurryFox · 20/04/2007 19:00

Evening girls.

Ambi - Thanks for that. Can't wait to go to the docs just to see what date they give me although I'm sure the scan will give a differen't date too.

Dundee - Hope you are feeling better today When I was pg with DD I didn't see my MW until after my 12 week scan so am expecting the same again.

Welcome nbg - Glad you've been able to have a scan already, must be reassuring

Hope everyone else is well

Lizzer · 20/04/2007 20:11

Evening All, and welcome Nbg!
I missed out on a lot yesterday, just read through it all, hope everyone who's feeling down and stressed (Dundeem and the lady) I'm glad I wasn't the only one this week to lose the plot....!!

I'm trying not to think about this weekend cos working in 2 places tomorrow, then sunday off, then 5 days of hell at work in 3 places (I am that mad/stupid) before the weekend again. 1 job is a placement I finish in July so that's ok, the other is my 'main' part time job and the other 1 I'm going to ditch cos I need a life and I'm sooooo tired (I was going to use the money to buy myself teeth bleach and beautiful shoes - but sod it they'll have to wait!!)

DundeeM I am so on your behalf for docs making you do a pg test - ffs, maybe if you were like, 15, but puur-lease, haven't they got other things to spend their precious money on?

Lucy, I get my date on tues when I have first mw apt - if she says the 1st of June I'll just crumple, it really sounds like an age away, poor you

Ambi - thanks for that link, helped me out loads

Fleacircus - I think you will have a lovely first few xmas' but dd arrived 23rd dec 7 yrs ago, last year I spent it getting 10 kids to a swim party, organising a b'day cake, party bags, party favours AND buying present on top of xmas stuff. Its great if you're the sort of person who thrives on stress AND I'm doing it again AAARRGGHH!! (But, actually, you love them so much you'd bag the moon for them if they really, really wanted [warm fuzzy emoticon] )

Lizzer · 20/04/2007 20:12

'feels better soon' missing out of first sentence - blaming hormones obviously

cazzybabs · 20/04/2007 20:29

bambino1 - any news yet???

We have our school inspection next week - panic me noooooo! AHhhH. Luckly the little darlings are keeping me awake I am just shattered in the afternoons and evenings. So this weeekend I have to do all my lesson plans (can I remember how to do them?).

I have stopped feeling sick in the mornings (I hope its not a bad sign) as I am still shattered and still not really sure what to eat in the evenings. I am craving ham and white bread sandwhiches - whihc is (a) bad as a veggie and (b) have no ham or white bread and (c) dh is away no chance of a trip to the shops which is lucky because I need ham - ohhh ham, lettice, mayonise and white bread.......

nothing else cuts it!

Lucy1977 · 20/04/2007 21:00

Dundee - are you in Dundee? Sorry if that is a really stupid question. If you are in Scotland I just wanted to say that I have found ante natal care quite different from south of the border. With DD my booking in appt was 12wks and scan at 13wks. I then had an appt at 18wks then 24wks, 28wks, 32wks then fortnightly til 36wks then weekly til 40wks. We don't get a 22wk scan in our area so we chose to go private for it.

I wonder if anyone on this thread will have twins? I was just getting all warm and fuzzy from reading the April thread and a lady on there had twins.

Bambino - thinking of you, hope you got good news.

Been having some pains in my lower abdomen when I stand up quickly, anyone else been having anything like that?

Lucy

Lucy1977 · 20/04/2007 21:05

cazzybabs - having the same problems as you in the evenings - no inspiration what so ever what to make for dinner every night.

cazzybabs · 20/04/2007 21:09

I NEEEDDDDD HAM

oh god have had almost no meat for about 15 years....I need meat

Caz10 · 21/04/2007 13:04

Well I was going to say good morning all, but realised it is the afternoon - after sleeping for an hour after work last night, then went to bed early and slept like a log again, I ended up going back to bed this morning and slept for another 2 hours! eek! I know I should be grateful for the chance to do it, no other DC and DH at work, just the dog to look p1ssed off at me! But for goodness sake how much sleep does one person need?!

Re scans etc I was told mine would be around 12 weeks then around 20 weeks. I am in Scotland too, and I know other areas in Scotland have scrapped the 20 week one, I'm glad my area still does it.

I have my 1st midwife apt in 2 weeks so hoping to get lots of information then.

Still feeling like I'm going to chuck up every second of the day, have found munching on ice cubes helps. Anyone got any other tips?!

Hope everyone is well! Although I feel terrible I am just so happy to have made it this far!

Caz10 · 21/04/2007 13:09

Lucy1977 thank you so much for the link to the place in Glasgow - don't know if we could afford it but I would LOVE to get a 4d scan, how cool!

Nbg · 21/04/2007 15:41

Caz, I think your doing the right thing munching on ice cubes. I've bought an ice lolly tray and made them all up with water. I had a huge craving for ice cubes in the later stages of pregnancy with ds. So much so that I insisted I had a jug of them when I went into labour. I ended up crunching them through a flannel. Its a good method of pain relief!

Cazzybabs, lol at you wanting Ham. I've got a thing for sausages and crisps. Thats also been helping my sickness.

Lucy, if you have your scan on the 1st June will that make you around 13 weeks?

JARM · 21/04/2007 17:28

Hi all again!

Not much happening here, just extream tiredness and lack of eating!

Cant seem to "fancy" anything (bar kebabs!) so end up not eating, and then by 9pm feel seriously sick because I havent eaten so have a bowl of cereal!

MW appointment on Thursday, going to see if I can have all my scans etc done at the hospital in Ipswich as we should be moving there in the summer. (providing the army pull their socks up!)

Do have a slight concern i may be further on due to sickness just stopping so suddenly, either that or its not good news.

Im trying to be positive, but after a shakey start to the pregnancy of not being sure I wanted it, I cant help but feel I will get my just deserts for feeling that way.

Hope all you lovely ladies are ok, and NBG hope you are bearing up sweetie xxx

Hi all.
No didn't hear anything yest. Will now have to wait till monday pm!
I have gone into panic mode at the mo. I am not sure whether or not i'm having an ectopic. I have this on and off pain on the right side of my abdomen (where I think my tubes are located). It feels like someone is poking me. What do I do? Woorying like mad and get all panicy!

peanutbutter · 21/04/2007 18:56

hello everyone, could I join your thread? I've been on the ttc boards for a few months and had a brief stay on the due in November ante-natal, followed by a mc at 6 weeks.

I tested positive yesterday and am still in shock (in a good way ). I'm 34, married to dh who works away an awful lot, and we've got ds who is 19months.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all better over the coming months - hello to those I recognise from the ttc threads

Caz10 · 21/04/2007 19:09

Congratulations peanut butter!

Bambino how are you doing? I'm not sure about eptopic pregnancies, but from what I have read the pain seems to be quite severe? I'm still having quite bad AF type pains, and ended up going to see doc on call cos I was so worried, but he assured me it was normal, uterus stretching etc. I hope you are ok, call into your docs if it is really worrying you.

It is all such a worry isn't it? I ended up telling my friend that I was pg last week, she has a baby already so I thought she would be a good person to talk to, and she said the worry is never ending, you go from m/c worries at the start, to stillbirth worries later, then even when baby arrives you spend months thinking they're going to die in the night!

As long as we are all keeping healthy and looking after ourselves I guess that is all we can do.

Lucy1977 · 21/04/2007 20:05

Evening all

NBG - yes exactly, fat lot of good them giving me a dating scan on 1st June as I'd be 13+wks then. I think the MW got confused and forgot to request a dating scan and perhaps now our 12wk scans are done at the hospital (with DD they were at the MW clinic) which would tie in with 1st June. I'm going to phone again on Monday and hopefully either get an earlier date for scan or confirm 1st June will be normal 12 wks scan.

Jarm, {{hugs}} please don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure plenty of people have had to think long and hard at the start of a pregnancy. From being a forum addict with DD and now again this time I keep reading on different sites people who's symptoms do just disappear and it doesn't always mean bad news.

Welcome peanutbutter, congratulations on your pregnancy.

Caz10 - yes I agree with your friend the worry never does end! Best thing to do is try and find your way of managing the worry - for every worry or negative thought I have I try to replace them with two positives.

DH asked me to take over from him and scarify the lawn does anyone else agree that I shouldn't be doing that in my conidition? (for anyone that doesn't know the machine weighs 100kg and rakes out the moss from your lawn, it's so hard to manoevre and really hard work).

Hope you're all ok

Lucy

fifisworld · 21/04/2007 20:15

Hello everyone

How you feeling bambino??
Have you spoke to epu or anyone??

Havent had a chance to have a proper read through and catch up yet but i hope everyone is doing ok.
Will catch up with you all tomorrow.
x

cazzybabs · 21/04/2007 20:25

bambino1 - changes are quite likely its not eptopic. I got quite paniky about this too and so googled it. It is unlikely if you have not have IVF, any damamge to your tubes or taken the morning after pill. You wll also get a pain in your shoulder (this is late on due to internal bleeding).

If you are really worried I would either go to your a and e or phone your out of hours doctor.

If you where me I would wait a day and see if it has gone. Chances are it is just things streching.

Both of my mc have been at 10 weeks with no previous pain, just bleeding so I have 2 more weeks to wait.....

Nbg · 21/04/2007 21:01

Bambino, if you were bleeding, had shoulder tip pain and a fever then I would be worried,
Chances are its just things stretching, moving changing etc.

JARM, thanks
FWIW my sickness isnt as bad now. Dont know whether its because I know when its bad so know how to stop it or what.

Lucy, I think you can have a dating scan up until 14 weeks but dont quote me.

My Take That ticket hangs in the balance of my next scan

JARM · 22/04/2007 08:07

TAKE THAT !!!!!

Ill go if you dont!

Caz10 · 22/04/2007 09:50

cazzybabs poor you, what a worry. How are you finding this pregnancy so far? Did you feel different in the ones that led to your m/c than you did in the ones that led to your dds? Sorry that is maybe something you don't want to talk about, feel free to ignore.

Well my nausea stopped for a while last night after I ate half a massive bag of crisps! Back with a vengeance this morning and I am trying to forget how good the crips made me feel so I don't make them a diet staple!

Nbg · 22/04/2007 09:52

Caz, I've been the same with crisps. So much so that I've bought a huge multipack

Caz10 · 22/04/2007 10:00

hee hee salt and vinegar seem to be the best!

also keep forgetting to ask - is anyone else on here over 30? I am feeling old when I see people are 24, 25 etc. I am envious of you being ready to have babbies at that age, I was a total numpty then and it would have been a disaster! All going well, I will be 32 when dd or ds no1 is born, and it's making me feel ancient! (and worried!)

Nbg · 22/04/2007 11:45

Awww Caz, your far from ancient.
I'll be 25 next month.

I was pg with dd when I turned 21, got married 3 months after she was born and then had ds last year when I was 24.

I'd like some time off soon
