We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

Flumplet I'm overweight also, when I contacted GP surgery this morning I mentioned needing higher dose folic acid and she said MW will go through all that but it needs to be prescribed by GP Confused and like you say, by the booking appt we will almost be at the point of not needing it any more! Might make an appt with GP tomorrow

Dorotha · 05/09/2017 18:31

Get a telephone appointment with GP and ask for it. Midwives definitely don't do prescriptions so she'll go via your GP anyway. Alternatively, worth talking to a pharmacist?

MammaBear18 · 05/09/2017 18:56

@HerSymphony what are you planning on making? I'm a bit stuck with ideas for a spring baby as our original plan (haha!) was to have an autumn baby

MotherofBoy · 05/09/2017 19:13

hersymphony in a cross stitcher... have browsed but not bought yet! Wondering when I will find the time as still have another 1.5 to do for other family babies!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 19:19

Yes i guess the really woolly stuff will have to wait (or made 6-12mo size)!

I think I'll make cotton or bamboo hats, a nice blanket, maybe just one jacket and a few shorter sleeved lighter cardigans for summer

midgetjen · 05/09/2017 19:32

Doublechocolatetiffin · 05/09/2017 20:34

Oh no midgetjet I'm so sorry. I've been there and I know how horrible it is. I really hope they manage to give you some answers, the uncertainty is awful.

Hummingbird15 · 05/09/2017 20:35

So sorry midgetgen - really keeping everything crossed for you x

Hummingbird15 · 05/09/2017 20:40

Flumplet at the start of my last pregnancy the midwife told me that they'd just announced in their trust that people with bmi over 35 should take double dose folic. But by the time I had my baby, my sister who is a midwife in a different area said that in her trust they'd been told the latest research showed it wasn't necessary so they were stopping it. Lots of mixed messaging out there, so I wouldn't worry too much. The advice would likely differ depending on where you live.

Hairgician · 05/09/2017 20:52

midgetgen hope all goes ok x

midgetjen · 05/09/2017 20:52

I'm afraid I'll be leaving you all...despite having a positive test yesterday my test at a and e has come back negative...so the dr said it is classed as a chemical pregnancy.
Wishing you all happy and healthy pregnancies and beautiful may babies xxx
