We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

My first stuck nicely too! Do try not to worry too much @moochops89 remember, the most likely outcome statistically is that all will be well 👍

Just went to the loo as couldn't put it off any longer and all fine 👌👌 @catndogmummy This 'bedding in' theory sounds quite a good one so I'll take that thanks!!

I did another test yesterday and it was stronger than before but not as strong as l would have liked but I think it's a bad idea to compare tests as depends on time of day/how much you've had to drink etc etc.... it does play on your mind though!!

midgetjen · 05/09/2017 11:59

Did a clearblue digital test this morning which clearly said pregnant so my husband finally believes me! Think he was a bit sceptical when I told him a faint line still counts Grin

MotherofBoy · 05/09/2017 12:22

My first stuck firmly! Also in my first pregnancy I had bright red bleeding at 13 weeks and all was well. Cramping v common in early pregnancy as uterus stretches so try not to worry. Do understand your fears tho I am so wet down there (tmi!) with loads of discharge so constantly checking knickers just in case! But had v strong test this morning so all well here I think.

Baby dust and let's hope next 8 weeks or so go quickly!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 12:34

I keep remembering that my mum had 6 pregnancies, 2 of which resulted in MC. Sometimes this feels reassuring, sometimes it's the opposite!

midgetjen · 05/09/2017 12:38

My first stuck firmly too and I had a small early bleed. It can be really scary but try and keep positive.

midgetjen · 05/09/2017 12:54

And just after typing that I've got spotting. Fingers crossed it's just an implantation bleed like with ds1...

MarshmallowMeadow · 05/09/2017 12:59

Another one on knicker watch here too. Still worried about lack of symptoms, especially no nausea. Don't know how I'm going to wait so long for the first scan, it's such a nerve wracking time isn't it. Hoping for the best for you all!

Hairgician · 05/09/2017 13:05

@MotherofBoy that's exactly how mine looked at roughly same stageGrin (They were also 3 frer)

MammaBear18 · 05/09/2017 13:45

Another knicker watcher here too. Every time I get stressed, or annoyed or weepy (not hard to come by these days 🙄) and feel 'wet' I panick like a crazy woman.

Symptoms easing off too...

NannyGR · 05/09/2017 14:53

nothing since this morning thankfully!! rang and spoke to my lovely nurse whos been my support the last 6 years and she said if i get any more bleeding or cramps book in with gp and hopefully they can do my bloods to see if my levels are rising! fingers crossed this morning was just a one off! cant help being on constant knicker watch though. how is everyone else doing this afternoon??

Doublechocolatetiffin · 05/09/2017 14:56

midgetjen I hope it's ok for you, it's horrible when you bleed isn't it. Fingers crossed it's implantation like before.

Mamma I know how that feels - I've got lots more discharge and that feeling makes me want to check my knickers every 5 mins.

I'm trying to feel positive and failing, after several very busy days where I haven't had much of a chance to think about it. Today is quiet and all I'm doing is worrying. I clearly need another project to immerse myself in.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 15:04

Lots more discharge here too - is that the plug forming or something?

Fillybee · 05/09/2017 15:07

All ok here, hope the spotting has stopped for the rest of you xx

AlexsMum89 · 05/09/2017 15:35

Just spent half an hour listening to a friend who thinks its unfair women get maternity leave and is against free childcare. Every time her argument being that children are a choice and we shouldn't do it if we can't afford it... Oh the joys.
(Not actually directed at me, I work full time, only took 9 months off with my son as I needed to earn my wage again to pay the bills, and I've done a lot of things like work full time and study in the evenings to qualify as an accountant to provide better for my son, but all the same) Not feeling very happy right now!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 16:24

I hate that so much - it's as though having children is some silly little hobby that (predominantly) women insist on doing, and therefore they shouldn't expect any support. It only serves to isolate mothers and is basic misogyny (and also classism if you only believe certain groups are entitled to reproduce). children are a vital part of society!

I have said this for years, long before I started thinking about having children myself

Dorotha · 05/09/2017 16:27

That would really put my back up! Compared to the rest of Europe, UK has very poor maternity pay and extremely expensive childcare.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 16:32

Texted H to ask whether he thought it was too soon to buy wool (I am a knitter). He said it was too soon :(

AlexsMum89 · 05/09/2017 16:38

I said a lot of things in response, but I did manage to keep my cool and say all of them in a rational and logical manner. It's left me feeling not so great about our otherwise brilliant friendship though which is really sad. I hope we can get past it.
On the plus side, I've cheered myself up by booking a builder to give me a quote for a small job that's really bothering me because I don't have the tools to do it myself.

@hersymphony ah that's a shame. I don't know if I'll knit for my own baby to be honest, I've not had much time for knitting the past few years. I did make my niece a beautiful blanket when she was born with a castle on it make out of knit and purl stitch.

MooChops89 · 05/09/2017 16:39

Just made my booking appt - 3rd October Grin was thinking it would be far too early but there were only a few left that week!

AlexsMum89 · 05/09/2017 16:46

ooh @moochops mines on 28th September. I was very comforted that it's 8 weeks to the day. Gives me a small hope that they're not horribly overstretched and I will be looked after well.
I had good prenatal care with my DS but a bad birth and bad postnatal care that had a lot of negative impacts and I suffered from PND so I'm nervous about being badly looked after again.

MammaBear18 · 05/09/2017 16:53

@hersymphony it's never to early to buy would (says the Woman who has boxes kf it neatly stacked on the balcony) 😁 I have been knitting for the future child in the past, but put it away because I was frustrated that the said child wasn't being produced! Looking forward to getting back to it now.

I think there are some women who really do give maternity leave a wrong name. I have one in my department who in about 4 years had 3 chikdren, but announced each one so late that lots of classes (including Year 11) we're left with cover teacher for more than 6 months. Now I know you don't choose when the baby is conceived/arrives, but some clarity would've helped us plan and prepare. But she always waits until timetables are done for next year (even when she's 5 months) so that she doesn't get given responsibilities she doesn't want (like coaching or TAing).

HerSymphonyAndSong · 05/09/2017 17:50

:D mamabear18 I have plenty insulating the loft already but I want NEW and SPECIAL wool!

You always get people who take the piss with entitlements sadly

JuniUmiZoomi · 05/09/2017 18:01

Please remind me to book in tomorrow!
Similar story here alexsmum. We will probably employ a doula this time to try to avoid those issues happening again. I'd also like to think as I know what to expect I'll be a bit more assertive this time.

Flumplet · 05/09/2017 18:01

I can't get a booking appointment til end September - I'm 5+3 already. Problem is I'm very very overweight as I've said already and think I need super strength folic acid - won't it be a bit of an afterthought by then? I'm taking normal tablet plus vit D and there is folic acid in my pregnancy multi-vit also. I been taking these for a few months now. Do you think that ought to be alright?!

Doublechocolatetiffin · 05/09/2017 18:11

Flumplet I'd book an appointment to see your gp if you are concerned about folic acids levels. Better to see them sooner rather than wait for booking in (which tends to be a form filling excercise).
