In which we swat away unwanted hands, perform military operations every night to roll over in our sleep, clean the kitchen cupboards for the eleventy billionth time and count down the days to our maternity leave!

Thanks everyone :)

Miraculously, Freddie slept in the hospital crib thing pretty much all night - I actually had to wake him at 3am for a feed! He must have been really tired out. Just waiting for DH to arrive so I can have a much needed shower. I didn't sleep brilliantly as they were in and out doing obs on me and Freddie, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting home.

izzibee29 · 08/11/2017 13:58

Congrats @butterybollocks - hope you three get to go home soon xx

I’m having a rubbish couple of days, my tumble dryer decided to set itself on fire last night. Luckily I caught it before it burst into flames. As a result of moving much faster than I should, I’ve pulled my section scar and it’s slightly open, only about 1cm long. It’s started to hurt now :( I’m calling the community midwife team first thing tomorrow morning.

Please talk to me about happy things to cheer me up!

DuRezidal · 09/11/2017 05:55

My baby has decided he is an owl... sleeps all day and awake through the night.

Hazandduck · 09/11/2017 06:50

Massive congratulations @buttery, ah Freddie is gorgeous! I have a little nephew Fred, it’s one of my favourite names! :) Glad he had a good first night too xx

Oh god @sock how scary! Is there anyone that can come and wait on you a bit today? Your mum or DH etc? Hope you’re not in too much pain, that sounds excruciating 😖 xx

izzibee29 · 09/11/2017 06:53

@theotherendofthesockportal Ouch! Go steady today.

My parents old peugeot set itself on fire when we were on holiday in the midlands once. We were in a Safeway’s car park at the time and the family joke now is that Safeway’s isn’t very safe.

butterybollocks · 09/11/2017 07:19

Oh no sock! Look after yourself today, plenty of tea, biscuits, cake and baby snuggles.

I was with you in the night owl club last night DuRez! Freddie was up fussing until 3am, so DH and I have had 3 hours sleep. Think he suddenly realised he'd actually been born and was unsettled. Ended up giving him a little bit of formula as my milk isn't in yet and he was frantically sucking which was getting painful - these few days before milk comes in are tough!

lydiangel83 · 09/11/2017 07:36

@theotherendofthesockportal sorry to hear that sounds painful :( we have a newborn photo shoot today at home which seemed like a good idea but house is a state, I look at feel awful, we haven’t had time to bathe baby, and I have no clothes to wear!

@DuRezidal we have an owl too, angelic peaceful sleeper all day and then grizzlies all night! Laying her on us is only way to calm her.

My boobs are on fire each time I feed so have been expressing and bottle feeding but noticed some hesitation when I tried to breast feed last night :( got 10 day check tomorrow will ask Midwife. My friend got mastitis and it sounds like the most miserable thing ever :-/

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/11/2017 07:46

Thanks for the kind words. I’ve got a friend coming over with a costa coffee today and my dad is collecting the mountain of baby clothes and drying them for me.

I have a part time owl baby, she sleeps through the night when it’s my husband’s turn to look after her. On my duty she likes to awaken at 3am and then wants cuddles.

We have noticed really starting to look at things, my mom has bought her some black and white pictures and she spends ages to staring at them.

@butterybollocks my milk came in on day 3. I was asleep less than an hour and awoke to two leaking bowling balls strapped to my front.

@lydiangel83 we have booked a photo shoot for the beginning of December, the brief says bring 3 outfits to change into. I won’t do that, one outfit will be fine, Bea gets really angry when we take her clothes off. I want photos of a nice content baby, not an angry looking goblin!!!

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/11/2017 07:48

@izzibee29 your family joke about Safeway’s not being safe bought a smile to by face this morning. The car fire sounds terrifying!

AGnu · 09/11/2017 11:48

Urgh. I am in such a bad mood! Saw the midwife earlier - all fine, baby now 2-3/5 engaged. I'm just really tired but also rather restless. I was supposed to be taking the DC out this morning & told them I just needed 20 mins to shut my eyes but every little noise they made annoyed me & they kept choosing noisy things to do so in the end I said we weren't going out. I'm so tired & restless & grumpy, I just don't know what to do with myself! Pretty sure if I was a chimp in the zoo I'd be pushing my bedding around & making the keepers twitchy!

Also, the neighbours are doing some DIY or something... It's taking all my self-control not to bang on the wall! Blush Blooming hormones!

Have you spoken to the MW yet sock? Hope it doesn't set your healing back too much!

Zampa · 09/11/2017 12:30

Shall I set up a new thread? This post is the 988th ...

I can put it in ante or post natal ... Thoughts?

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/11/2017 12:40

@AGnu I’ve left a message with the community midwife. I’m sure I will be ok, I just need to remember that I’m not super woman!

@Zampa I’ve joined you on the new thread.
