In which we swat away unwanted hands, perform military operations every night to roll over in our sleep, clean the kitchen cupboards for the eleventy billionth time and count down the days to our maternity leave!

Honestly - the newborn bit is fine. They do wake up, but they need feeding and changing and then they go back to sleep for a bit. And I think you function on adrenaline in those early weeks and you really just hunker down and get your head around having a tiny baby.

It's when they're older and bouncing round their cots for 2 hours at a time at 2am that they really drive you bonkers! ;)

This is what maternity leave looks like here today Smile

I totally agree @butterybollocks. Waking for feeds during mat leave is nothing when compared to a 2 year old wanting to play at 3am when you have work in the morning.

GingerHanna · 23/10/2017 16:30

So hospital appointment good and bad. Fluid a little up but still low. Back Friday to check again and will be back twice a week thereafter.

They are really not happy as there are a number of factors all on the edge - fluid levels, blood pressure, growth appears to be dropping but they are not too sure as it has higher margin or error at this stage.

If any one factor drops any more then they want to induce. Too risky to leave much more. If all good then still want to induce between 38-39 weeks as too high risk to wait much more. Doc said no way was I going to 40 weeks!

@Hazandduck how lovely about your baby shower! I had one a couple of weeks ago, so nice to have all your friends together!
Also agree with Buttery, the newborn part is the easy part!
@Ginger I really hope nothing else changes and everything is plain sailing from here, must be such a worry :(

Has there been a Facebook page set up yet does anyone know? My June 16 bus has one and I find it much easier to keep up with on there!

Anyone else still suffering with bad sickness?

DuRezidal · 23/10/2017 20:22

Grrr I ended up in triage with high blood pressure and signs of a lingering water infection still... bp came down with just lying there and I was sent home with instructions to take it a bit easier. That is easier said than done though when you’re self employed and have an exam 3 hours away tomorrow!

Amd724 · 23/10/2017 20:57

The indigestion is back with a vengeance! It’s making me feel so sick. I have bursts of nesting, and then I need a nap after. Hahah. I’m 38 weeks today. I’m actually hoping they schedule an induction for me on Thursday, at least I’ll have a day to plan for. If the baby’s growth is still slowing down, I assume my induction will be earlier rather than later. Not sure how much longer I can wait.....

So my pre labour symptoms are now:
Indigestion/slight nausea
Looser stools (like once a day/every other day)
More pelvic pain
Groin pain
Exhaustion
Slight menstural cramping
And my bump has definitely dropped

It’s almost worse than the two week wait symptom checking!

theotherendofthesockportal · 23/10/2017 21:54

@GingerHanna @DuRezidal @Amd724 sorry to hear you ladies aren’t feeling too well. Do try and take it easy!

Pregnancy hasn’t finished kicking my ass yet, I had to go to a&e this evening with another suspected blood clot. I had more blood thinning injections and have to go back tomorrow to have my legs scanned. It was the first time in 10 days that I have been separated from the baby, and I really really missed her!

Zampa · 23/10/2017 22:37

@MrsAlexKarev There is a November Facebook group but I don't have the details. A number of us preferred to stay on Mumsnet.

Can anyone help Mrs?

AccrualIntentions · 24/10/2017 07:46

4 days left at work...I can do this! Bizarrely I slept through the whole night last night and didn't wake up till 6:45. That hasn't happened for months.

strawberrysodasmiles · 24/10/2017 07:52

Morning ladies,
Really really slow to joining this one 🙈
Hope you don't mind me crashing the party this late.
Currently pregnant with my first DS and due on 17th!
Hope you're all feeling okay and not banging your head on the wall from the unbareable insomnia!
xx

lydiangel83 · 24/10/2017 08:00

After weeks/ months of insomnia I went to bed at 8:45pm last night and slept almost all night until 6am. No reason to be up that early but couldn’t sleep anymore! Also got bad lower back pain today, different to usual back pain, wondering if it could be the start!? I’m 39 wks tomorrow!!

Hazandduck · 24/10/2017 08:22

Ooh it may be @Lydia!! How exciting :)

Haha @Zampa and @Buttery that has reassured me thank you! Your rocking horse is absolutely gorgeous, I love it! My maternity leave currently looks like the under sink kitchen cupboards emptied on to the floor so I can reorganise everything 🙈😂

Also started my favourite baby related job this morning...sorting through my many, many books to pick out ones to put in the nursery 😃 I’m a bit obsessive about old, illustrated, classic kids’ books and have loads of animation books too because I love to draw and it’s something I have always dreamed about sharing with my little one. Why can’t I just lay in?! I couldn’t get out of bed for work last week!

Welcome @strawberry! Congratulations 😃

Sorry you are still suffering @sock and away from your little lady!

@Ginger that is worrying but sounds like they are really keeping an eye on you which I guess is all you can ask for. It’s crazy to think your little one will definitely be here in the next couple of weeks. Hope you are ok about it all. X

@Accrual, you’ve got this! 4 more days!

@durez that sounds tough. Hope you feel better soon.

@Amd I have all those symptoms too! And also sciatica has majorly ramped up. I’ve not felt sick this whole pregnancy but the last week I have started to inexplicably (I’m not eating anything different!) x

butterybollocks · 24/10/2017 14:17

Sounds like there's lots going on for a lot of us at the moment - look after yourselves everyone and take it easy.

I have really bad stabby pains in my cervix/vag today, I think baby must be pretty low down. It really hurts when I walk (have already walked 4 miles today for school run, errands and dog walk). 37 weeks today.

Topsyloulou · 24/10/2017 18:18

Sounds like we're all gearing up towards the end of our pregnancies with increasing pains etc. The symptom spotting for labour is just as bad as symptom spotting for pregnancy!

I thought I'd had a show last week but nothing has happened since. Had some period like cramps last night, sent DP into a panic. He's a real planner so elcs is ideal for him, me going into labour ahead of that would send him into shock!

3 more days at work, Friday can't come soon enough. I've then got a week to rest before my elcs. I've tried to get all of my jobs / baby prep done so I can actually rest next week but I'm not very good at resting so we'll see how that goes!

AGnu · 25/10/2017 00:50

I've had a dodgy belly today & a fair few random abdo pains that I did wonder if they could be the start of something. Nothing materialised though & she's still in there happily prodding my tender belly. I'm only 36+3 though so hoping she'll stay put for a bit longer!

We had a really busy weekend with a family wedding & a birthday. The DC & I just flopped yesterday & haven't done a whole lot today either. I think we're mostly recovered now but we were all utterly exhausted from the excitement! I've come down with a cold which I can only think is linked to how little time I've had to rest the last week or so. The last 2 days of barely getting off the sofa have definitely helped. Fx I can completely recover before DD makes an appearance!

Motherhippy16 · 25/10/2017 09:08

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been on here for a while. Looks like i have missed so Much! Congratulations @theotherendofthesockportal she is gorgeous! And welcome new mum's!
I am 34+6 today and went on maternity last Friday. Has been so busy with the in laws staying which has been wonderful but have so so much to do with regards to nursery and packing and getting everything sorted!
@lydia I have really struggled with what is about to happen and missing my old life especially when seeing friends that don't have children but I know that as soon as I have baby in my arms I won't care about it. I am very much looking forward to some wine at Christmas though!
Baby is fine and kicking away. Have experienced lots of indigestion and now feet are swelling in the eve and have achy legs. Midwife next Tuesday so fingers crossed everything will still be ok. Lots of love to mummies babies and bumps! X

Hazandduck · 25/10/2017 10:14

Yep definitely sounds like everyone is getting similar symptoms at the end!

Has anyone here suffered migraines in pregnancy? I haven’t had any and when I was on the pill that tricked my body in to thinking it was pregnant they stopped, but last night out of nowhere I had one. Mine are debilitating so i am really freaking out now about when Baby is here; I lost vision for an hour and my left side went completely numb last night, and all I can do is try and sleep it off. DH spoke to the midwife about the preeclampsia risk because I couldn’t and she is on standby to come round and see me today if I feel weird again but touch wood I feel alright this morning. Was convinced I would go in to labour though! Nothing yet lol.

My mum never had a migraine until she had me, and I was the only child out of 4 that had migraines all through childhood and up to adulthood, so I am now thinking I’m having a troublesome little girl like me!

Amd724 · 25/10/2017 14:57

AGnu, I had a really dodgy stomach and pains at 36 weeks exactly. It made me very nervous that I was going into labour early! But, here I am at 38+3, hoping they schedule a favourable induction tomorrow.

I had another dodgy stomach Monday and yesterday. I went from sleeping loads to staying awake for hours. I’ve had more fits of nesting. Just waiting....

Motherhippy16 · 25/10/2017 18:47

Has anyone found good exercises for constant pressure from baby engaging? Just walking into town and back is very uncomfortable and every step it feels as though I need a wee! Doesn't help that my foot has inflamed again from an injury over the summer which makes me waddle more! X

butterybollocks · 25/10/2017 18:47

@hazandduck I had migraines in my pregnancy with DD. Particularly memorable was the one I had on Christmas day! I think it would be hard looking after a baby with a proper migraine and I think you'd have to call on family/DH to step in. Hope you're OK today.

I've been to clinic at the hospital this morning - elcs booked for 7th Nov when I'll be 39 weeks although they have warned me that it may get pushed back if there's not enough beds.
Also had a growth scan, all fine apart from the femur length which is tiny (3rd centile). Not a huge surprise tho as DD is tiny at age 5 and was similar so I'm trying not to worry about it. We got a glimpse of baby's face on the scan - he looks like DD! Smile

Hazandduck · 25/10/2017 19:16

@Motherhippy I get that urge to pee from walking but only at odd moments I think when Baby headbutts down there! Takes my breath away!

Thanks @buttery I do feel a lot better, just a bit worried now as like you said, I wouldn’t be able to look after the baby

Hazandduck · 25/10/2017 19:19

Sorry I posted too soon, meant to say my mum and MIL won’t always be reliable but I spoke to a friend today who is on maternity leave and said I was worried and she straightaway said she would be here if I needed her. She only lives down the road so it was really sweet of her.

Think DH was worried about me, he popped home for lunch at half 12 today and didn’t go back bless him.

That is so exciting you have a date! Fingers crossed you don’t get pushed back :) And how lovely you saw your little one’s face 😍

Zampa · 26/10/2017 12:15

Got my section date! Woooooo! Feels very odd, knowing when baby will arrive. However, will be 39+4 so she might come earlier, of her own accord!

theotherendofthesockportal · 26/10/2017 12:32

@Zampa what is the date of your induction?
