In which we swat away unwanted hands, perform military operations every night to roll over in our sleep, clean the kitchen cupboards for the eleventy billionth time and count down the days to our maternity leave!

I don't have any hints of labour - but then I didn't last time until my waters broke when I got into bed. Have an appointment on weds to set a date for a section.

DH is definitely nesting. He's cleared out all of the kitchen cupboards this morning. I have a final list of jobs to do before baby arrives so there is some stuff I can get on with once DD is back at school on Monday.

AccrualIntentions · 21/10/2017 12:07

Ps is anyone else scared whenever they go to the loo that they will get their show?!

Yes, checking every time! No sign of anything yet though, phew.

5 days left at work, baby is apparently up at the 95th percentile and my induction is booked in for 11 November. It's all getting a bit real now, I feel like I could happily stay pregnant for another couple of months Shock

lydiangel83 · 21/10/2017 13:58

@Hazandduck not been tested again so not sure but taking Floradix as iron tablets from
Docs made me feel really sick - not as strong but easier on the stomach!

Hazandduck · 21/10/2017 14:52

@accrual glad it’s not just me back on frantic knicker watch! Feels like the early days again.

I kind of lost my shit with DH this morning. He is one of those wonderful, laidback people that will do anything to help anyone and my family often take advantage of his kind nature. I’m from a big family and my sisters are throwing a joint birthday party tonight at my parents’. DH, DF and DB are all going to footy this afternoon which is fine, but DF asked DH to come and help put up a marquee this morning. Our house is upside down. The nursery is chock full of crap from all other rooms, and he is working up until I go in to labour. I am doing all I can but we are kind of restricted with what we can do ie lifting etc! DH was actually going to go. I could go in to labour any time!! I’m 37 weeks now. Think I scared him a bit lol, he has been frantically moving things to the loft ever since because nobody seems to get that we need to prioritise sorting out our house! I know it’s my hormones but sheesh my family can be so thoughtless at times and DH struggles to say no to them x

DuRezidal · 21/10/2017 16:00

I am praying that I start sooner rather than later, I absolutely hate being pregnant and I’ve had enough now. I am 37 weeks today, and had my daughter at this point so anytime now is good for me.

I feel really grumpy and down because just want it over with and to feel normal again

Zampa · 22/10/2017 06:22

I threw up again last night and was worried that I was about to go into labour (symptom from last time). In retrospect, I think it was just indigestion! Glad that everyone else is looking out for signs!

Getting my ELCS date on Thursday. OH has an important work deadline when I'm 39+1 so hoping to get a date after this!

How is everyone sleeping? I'm awake 3-4 times a night now and can't sleep after about 0530. Pubic bone and hips also in a lot of pain. Wanting to stay pregnant for as long as possible but also looking forward to not being pregnant!

lydiangel83 · 22/10/2017 07:03

@Zampa my sleep patterns (or lack of) sound like yours and it’s getting to me. I feel like I’m losing the plot a little bit even when I talk! Also have achey hips and back. Am 38+5 today x

theotherendofthesockportal · 22/10/2017 07:31

@Zampa and @lydiangel83 it certainly sounds like you are both nearly ready. My insomnia went into over drive just before I went into labour. Fingers crossed for you both that if this is the case for you that it goes the way you want.

My little Bea is doing well, she is feeding between 2-3 ounces around every 3 and a half hours. My husband and I are tired but delighted :)

lydiangel83 · 22/10/2017 08:05

Thanks @theotherendofthesockportal I still don’t quite feel ready but not sure I ever will now! I’ve slept badly throughout to be fair but maybe this is it now! No other signs yet but will keep you posted. Enjoy your beautiful baby :) xx

butterybollocks · 22/10/2017 10:11

I really just want this baby safely here now. It's been such an anxious pregnancy. 36+5 so I should still have a few weeks to go.

I've been struggling this week with how I'll cope with breastfeeding this time around. I did it for 7 months last time but couldn't do it out of the house for the first 3 months - so we basically couldn't go anywhere. Don't think that'll work with 5 y o DD this time and it was not good for my mental health. So I'm going to see how it goes but I have been out and bought formula and bottles this week which has made me feel more in control.

izzibee29 · 22/10/2017 10:14

Hi all, sounds very exciting that some of us have sign of preparation for labour. I have to agree about the crappy sleep patterns, but feel like all the books did try to warn me about it. On top of that I think as baby keeps growing in this last month they are leaning on the stent in my ureter causing my side to ache in certain normal sitting positions. Thank god this is my last week at work!

I’m so ready to meet baby and have been glad to hear I’m not the only one!

lydiangel83 · 22/10/2017 13:52

I’m 38+5 today and feeling a bit down/ anxious about missing my old life. I know it sounds silly but the loss of freedom and spontaneity worries me. I’m sure it’ll all change once I get to meet baby but until then I just feel like a bad mamma to be!

DuRezidal · 22/10/2017 14:55

Has anyone else had strong period like pains?

DuRezidal · 22/10/2017 14:56

I had my daughter at 37 weeks, lost the mucous plug then had my waters broken so never actually had any labour symptoms at all. So I have absolutely no idea what to expect.

theotherendofthesockportal · 22/10/2017 16:44

@lydiangel83 it’s absolutely natural to feel this way, you are embarking on completely new journey and it’s full of unknowns. And you can thank the pesky hormones for making you feel this way, plus I’m guessing you feel pretty tired from all the lack of sleep? I don’t really have any advise, I’m here to give you a hand hold though!

@DuRezidal I had on and off period like pains for about a week before I my waters broke. I believe every labour is different though. Keep us updated!

izzibee29 · 22/10/2017 16:45

@DuRezidal so don’t hate me for saying this but I don’t normally get period pains, just a sort of dull ache so the advice that labour contractions can feel like period pains, doesn’t help me whatsoever

DuRezidal · 22/10/2017 17:00

I don’t really, just every so often but it’s this kind of feeling.

GingerHanna · 22/10/2017 19:05

Ohhhh @DuRezidal... sounds possible. Let us know how you get on!

Hazandduck · 23/10/2017 05:32

I’m with you all on the sleep problems! Wake up at 3.30- 4am every night and can’t get back to sleep! Maybe this is Mother Nature’s way of preparing us for sleepless nights with our babies?

This is so exciting/scary, all the symptom watching 😬

@Durez I’ve heard contractions are like the worst period pains you’ve ever had...so could be the start of something?!

Zampa · 23/10/2017 07:57

I briefly had contractions before my EMCS with DD. I didn't really know that's what they were but can remember thinking, if these are contractions, I understand why pain relief exists!

I have a couple of friends who laboured on gas and air alone. They're super women!

MrsAlexKarev · 23/10/2017 08:21

Hi everyone.
Bit late to the party! I joined a bus early on (possibly the December one) but couldn’t keep up. Hoping I’ll get back and get to know you all better now!
I’m 35+4 with baby #4. I already have a 4yo, 3yo & 1yo.
I have gestational diabetes and I’m being induced on my due date (23rd November).
Hope everyone is okay & enjoying their pregnancies!

butterybollocks · 23/10/2017 09:20

@hazandduck I do think it's nature preparing mums to be for sleepless nights. I've been sleeping ok - not brilliantly but not terribly and I think I'm going to be totally unprepared for newborn sleep deprivation!

Welcome @MrsAlexKarev :)

GingerHanna · 23/10/2017 09:50

Welcome Mrs Smile

First day of maternity leave. Done a hypnobirthing session and packed hospital bag. Got a few small bits to purchase - snacks and a couple of travel toiletries. Wanted it done this morning as back to hospital this afternoon to check on myoma and amniotic fluid levels.

Welcome @Mrs :)

Good luck today @Ginger I hope everything goes ok and you get to enjoy your maternity leave for a bit longer x

Had a surprise baby shower yesterday I was totally not expecting so I’m going to spend today finding places for all the lovely gifts! X

Hazandduck · 23/10/2017 10:08

@buttery the way people bang on about it I am actually quite scared of how tired I’m going to feel 😬
