In which we swat away unwanted hands, perform military operations every night to roll over in our sleep, clean the kitchen cupboards for the eleventy billionth time and count down the days to our maternity leave!

@butterybollocks I chickened out of doing it myself. My husband did it, I think he enjoyed it a bit too much. The stupid thing is that the build up is worse than the actual injection.

DuRezidal · 19/10/2017 19:49

I had to inject myself for 6 weeks when I broke my leg at 17 weeks... you get used to it and it's far better doing it to yourself

lydiangel83 · 19/10/2017 22:18

What’s the injection for guys? 13 days left here!

theotherendofthesockportal · 19/10/2017 22:26

@lydiangel83 it’s a blood thinning injection to prevent blood clots. I’ve had to have it because the c-section. 13 days - eeek! Do you have any gut feelings about whether you will be early/ late?

Zampa · 19/10/2017 22:31

OH did my injections last time and will be doing so again!

Last day at work tomorrow! SO much to do and coming down with a cold. Looking forward to sleeping most of next week!

AGnu · 20/10/2017 00:16

I've not heard of the injections before. Is that a standard post-CS thing?

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 06:51

@theotherendofthesockportal I can’t tell! I walked ten mins in to town yesterday and really struggled as so much pressure on bladder (I think!) so feel like things are moving downwards, but equally still can’t quite imagine it happening!! Is that weird at this stage?! To not be able to imagine having your own baby?!

How are you getting on anyway?

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 06:52

@theotherendofthesockportal ps good luck with injections!

Topsyloulou · 20/10/2017 07:16

@theotherendofthesockportal glad you're home. Hope the first night went well. It's very scary when you get home & think now what do I do but before you know it it's second nature. I got DP to do my injections, he'd distract me & before I knew it he'd done it.

@GingerHanna sounds like you're having a worrying time of it. These babies like to keep us on our toes! Hope the checks next week go well. Hope the last day at work goes well. I've still got another week to go, really wishing I was going today which was my original plan, I'm so not motivated to do anything but have lots still to do.

theotherendofthesockportal · 20/10/2017 07:21

@AGnu I was told that the injections are standard procedure after a section as you aren’t as mobile and therefore more at risk of developing a clot.

@lydiangel83 we are doing well, thank you! I’m over joyed to be at home and I love being a mummy! My mum noticed that baby responds to my voice, which makes me happy as the baby recognises me.

Looking back to last week I think I had signs that something was happening for a few days - I had been having a dodgy tummy, which had stopped the day before and I became constipate instead. I had the urge to scrub the bathroom floor and I had also complained to my husband that I felt weird.

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 07:39

@theotherendofthesockportal glad to hear it you sound like a natural :) amazing baby recognises your voice - how lovely!

Good to hear your pre labour signs too I will keep an eye out!

butterybollocks · 20/10/2017 08:27

My husband is a bit too keen on the idea of doing the injections! He also wants to do my finger pricks for GD but I won't let him.

Ahhh sock lovely to hear how you're getting on.

@durezidal how is your leg now? Is it fully healed?

I am a bit nesting crazy at the moment - keep frantically cleaning and sorting things even when I'm exhausted and should just sit down.

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 09:00

@butterybollocks I am still waiting for nesting vibe to kick in have got lots to do around house as DH likes to remind me!

Topsyloulou · 20/10/2017 10:41

@butterybollocks I'm the same, doing far too much round the house when I should be resting. I have to force myself to sit down & take it easy.

I had my consultant appointment this morning. It went fine & elcs is booked in for 6th November. Feels strange knowing her birthday already!

Zampa · 20/10/2017 17:17

Woohoo! School's out! Although I know I'll be online next week as there are a few things I'd like to finish off.

Going to London for a few days to see family, friends and my football team. Taking DD on her first trip to the hallowed turf. Big deal!

Zampa · 20/10/2017 17:41

There are some awesome name ideas on this thread ... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/baby_names/3061793-naming-dc-after-animal?pg=1&order=

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 18:13

Blimey @Zampa :) sounds like we may need to look further afield for boys names - we are still struggling!

Enjoy your time away it sounds lovely!

lydiangel83 · 20/10/2017 21:32

Quite suddenly come over very nauseous, wondering if a sign of early labour?! 12 days to d date! Any thoughts / stories?!

Hazandduck · 21/10/2017 04:53

Hi ladies sorry I’ve been away from the thread!

Welcome home @sock and Beatrice!

Hope everything is ok @Ginger at your next scan.

I know soooo many people that have had their November babies early, it is freaking me out because we are not ready! House is upside down, I just want to go through every drawer, cupboard, room, and declutter, which will take absolutely days and days. Have been painting skirting boards and scrubbing walls and reorganising our airing cupboard today 😂 I need to nest!

@Lydia it could just be everything getting extra squished in there, I felt quite sick last night because now I’m on maternity leave and pottering at home I forget to eat until far too late and then get the dizzy whirlies. Need to remind myself to eat more regularly! Or maybe it is labour...any other symptoms?? Exciting!

I had to finish work a bit earlier on midwife’s instructions due to work being stressful and my blood pressure being high, so have been off since Monday which ended up being my last day. I popped back on Thursday to pack up my desk and say goodbye, we had pizzas and cakes and sat around chatting all afternoon and my team got lots of lovely things for baby, I actually felt emotional leaving! They got a book of fairytales and everyone wrote a message inside the cover to ‘Baby D’ which I didn’t discover til I got home and did make me tear up.

Hope everyone is doing ok! I’ve started to get a little breathless at time, the monitor I was strapped to on Tuesday when I’m hospital showed it was whenever I was having mini contractions, I didn’t even realise that’s what it was but now I know the feeling I realise I’ve been having them for weeks.

Ah this is so exciting, we are all so near the end now. Who will be next!! Xx

Hazandduck · 21/10/2017 04:55

Ps is anyone else scared whenever they go to the loo that they will get their show?! 😬

lydiangel83 · 21/10/2017 05:18

@Hazandduck yes every time I go to the loo now I check for a show!! You’re right re nausea I think, probably just all squashed up, and now can’t sleep!

It is exciting - 11 days to my due date!!

How lovely of your colleagues. I’m not nesting but want to read my hypnobirthing book and rest, and have been baking rather than tidying up. DH does love my cakes but think he’d rather the house was a bit tidier lol!

lydiangel83 · 21/10/2017 05:18

@Hazandduck also have phases of being very breathless but seem to come and go

Hazandduck · 21/10/2017 05:24

Haha your DH should be grateful, I am currently fantasising about Nutella banana loaf! I have been cooking a bit but can’t wait to get my bake on, my first day of maternity I actually had dinner hot on the table when DH walked through the door, I can’t see it lasting tbf! I have become that naggy person though that makes him put his slippers on as soon as he comes in, and doesn’t let him eat a biscuit in the lounge without grabbing a plate because..crumbs! 😂 I’ve always been so relaxed think he’s a bit shocked he now has a Monica wife.

Oh my god 11 days is nothing! How has it gone so fast.

Our nursery furniture isn’t being delivered until the 27th of October when I’ll be just shy of 38 weeks...All baby’s clothes are washed and folded in boxes but I really want to put everything away and have it all perfect before.

Are you anaemic? I think mine is caused by that, I’ve been crap at taking my iron tabs x

lydiangel83 · 21/10/2017 09:13

@Hazandduck yes i am and Midwife missed it in my blood results :-/ yeah he does like it but also wishes I was tidier lol!

Hazandduck · 21/10/2017 09:30

That’s not good the Midwife missed it! Have they managed to get your levels back up? Mine went up a bit between appointments but still too low!
