I feel I have to explain my ignorance the other night for not knowing who Steve McLaren was.
i am in Scotish and when we were talking about football watching men i didn't realise that England were playing too that night - my DH was in the pub watching Scotalnd - also i thought that the Ulrika man was the England manager - my DH just laughed at me and put me straight, so now I know and my football knowledge has increased 10 fold!!!

derlor · 30/03/2007 09:41

oops i meant Scottish and Scotland - I am such a moron.

OP posts:
hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 09:58

I wouldn't have known that a few years ago either. My football knowledge has only come from my dp and his unhealthy obsession with it.

Getting dressed really makes me oof! Yes I am a lazy slattern who has only just got dressed!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:00

Delor are you having a new ds or dd? Or don't you know? We are having a ds and are having serious name dilemmas!

derlor · 30/03/2007 10:08

i have no idea what i'm having - in the area where i live you get 1 scan at 14 weeks, and thats it if you want another one at 20 weeks you have to pay for it and it is policy NOT to tell you the sex except for medical reasons.
we have regular name discussions in our house - we can't agree on any!!!
i like Edie, Heidi, Max and Jack
DH likes Emma, Hannah, Tom and Joe
neither of us willing to compromise.
DH claimes i picked names for our 1st two (Ben and Millie) but i beg to differ we both liked both those names. (anyway i am pg for 9 months then give birth so surely i get MORE of a say????)
what names do you have so far?

OP posts:
derlor · 30/03/2007 10:11

ps i'm still in my pj's
not workning till 12.45 so refusr to get dressed before 11.30 today. DD is dressed though and DS off to school so it's just me that is a lazy slob.

sputnik · 30/03/2007 10:15

Not noticing you're pregnant????
Does that beat my client not noticing she'd given birth? What if you did both

I can just picture it, OMG, what's this in my knickers, thought I felt something strange.

Trace2, just wanted to second H&A, we're here for the good and the bad, I've been cheered up many a time by this thread when I felt low, and I don't think I'm the only one. Don't be a stranger.

I have no idea who most of these men you're all on about are, when I'm in the UK for easter I'm going to have to spend the entire time in front of the tv if I want to catch up.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:20

I love Heidi, that was one of my girlie names. I have loads of girlie names, but not many boys names. My dp is very fussy as he has a stupid name and wants our children to have plain English names. So far we have Alfie, which I think is too common and too close to dd's name (Alice), William and Harry (how royal!!). I had a dream last night that he was called Edward, but dp is not keen! The last thing I want to do is have the baby and not have a name and just have to choose one through neccesity.

derlor · 30/03/2007 10:24

yeah imagine this, you are in Tesco merrilly doing your weekly shopping when you feel what you think is a big fart brewing, check the aisle no one near by so you decide to let it just slip out then walk away quickly - only its NOT a fart is it??? it's a baby in your pants and all of a sudden it's not so easy just to slink off unnoticed, nightmare. need to go to nappy aisle before you leave now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:26

How that you only get one scan! That's rubbish! I only had one with dd, but that was at 20 weeks, so at least I was able to find out the sex. This one I've had two, 12 weeks and 20 weeks, I am very lucky.

Hi sputnik! Are you looking forward to coming back to UK? It's not a very nice day, I hope it's better next week for you!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:27

Yes, but imagine all the free shopping you'd get! I hung around M&S a lot through my maternity leave in case my waters broke so I could get free stuff! Alas it didn't work !

derlor · 30/03/2007 10:27

oh i liked Eddie for a boy - but was shot down in flames with that too. it's a nightmare isn't it?

OP posts:
derlor · 30/03/2007 10:30

holy just go back to M&S in a few weeks with a bottle of water strapped to your leg then when no one looking open it start screaming and voila free stuff!!!!!
you could go to mothercare the next day and try it there too.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:31

Bloody men! I am a big fan of Kit and Finn, they went down like a pint of cold sick. If only we were married! Then I could go and register the name without dp. I can't do that now as he will then not be on the birth certificate and the baby will not have his surname!

derlor · 30/03/2007 10:32

oops i just made you holy instead of holly - sorry for your promotion but i have to retract it - especially with your near miss porn past!!!!

OP posts:
hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:32

Yes, but they'd call an ambulance or something and then I'd be in deep shit!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:33

Oh, but I am holy, church every week doncha know! Pah, yeah right!

kiwinat · 30/03/2007 10:37

We had trouble with boys names as well, the shortlist was:

Timothy
Benjamin
Ethan
Joshua

Really love Noah but doesn't go with our last name, he'd get called Knowalot at school for sure.

We wanted a girl, so were concentrating on girls names, and none of the boys names really tickled our fancy, but we have finally decided on one, none of the above, told all our family/friends, so will keep it until June to let you know.

sputnik · 30/03/2007 10:37

So what, if you're born in M&S do you become like an honorary citizen and get free stuff for the rest of your life or something? Someone was telling me if you're born on a Lufthansa flight you get free lifetime travel. If that applies to Easyjet and I give birth on the plane next week then I'll let you all know

I'm really looking forward to coming over, especially the hot cross buns. Not looking forward too much to the flight over though as I'll be on my own with DD (DH will follow at the weekend). Hoping she won't throw a wobbly and am assembling an entertainment/bribery kit to try an avoid that.

sputnik · 30/03/2007 10:40

We are still completely stuck for a name too.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:42

Well...if your waters break in M&S or Mothercare you get free stuff. I was told many times that this is an urban myth, but apparently it is true! I don't know what the free stuff is, but I'm after a new sofa in M&S or a buggy in Mothercare! Don't want much do I?

Kiwinat, I love all those names, but we know people who have them or have children with them, it's really hard to find something original, but not too unusual. I love Noah, but dp thinks it's too " Bibley"!

kiwinat · 30/03/2007 10:44

On a completely different topic. I've just been told by manager to STOP charging to overhead immediately. Said OK, give me a number to charge to. What have you been doing says he, Bugger all (do we have a code for Mumsnet?). Then storms off to find me some work.

They didn't think this through when they transfered me away from bullying manager, I now have 10% of week filled with work, instead of the normal 40% . Breathe in, breathe out, only 27 work days remaining.

kiwinat · 30/03/2007 10:45

Holly, we've gone for a bible name in the end. they're classic, strong names and don't seem to date.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 30/03/2007 10:46

Look at this !! I'm going to live in Harvey Nicks from 39 weeks onward!

derlor · 30/03/2007 10:53

Holly that is hillarious - the funniest thing is all the sensible 'professionals' advising against this. PMSL. wonder if you get £1000 for twins?!
