Have a lovely sleep! I'm off now too, I might just sleep on dd's floor, then I won't have to get up in the night and transfer myself there!

foxybrown · 06/04/2007 22:18

have already put DD to sleep in my bed to save her coming in later and waking me up.

(also saves TP coming in and snoring and waking me up)

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 06/04/2007 22:19

Very cunning!! I may do that too, it is dp's birthday tomorrow and I think he is expecting to get lucky tonight! Yeah right!

riabutterflew · 06/04/2007 22:19

Am having glass of wine - we're taking a few risks tonight ladies?
Is Andrew Ridgley the one out of Wham that isn't George Michael? (I live in a '70s throwback bubble... ). Chesney Hawks, haven't thought about him for ages (not that he ever did feature in my thoughts really. Didn't mind the song tho', we did that film he was in with Roger Daltrey (now there's a man) in English at school.

Male member rhymes with September. Not that it's relevant.

how about - kids tv is really erotica for very pregnant women?

riabutterflew · 06/04/2007 22:27

I have 2 photos from when DS1 was born - one still in the pool just after he was born and we are still connected by cord - I'm sure you can see it, I can certainly still feel it! The one from stitching up that has my blood-stained foot in it - it is a picture of DH & DS1 by the clock, so I know exactly what time they put my stitches in.
Isn't it all wonderful

'Nite all.

catkin555 · 07/04/2007 09:20

Good morning everyone!!
Have spent a few days logging on, catching up and then having no time to actually write anything!

Hope everyone is feeling OK. It sounds like some of you have had a pretty rough week. Big hugs.....

After a fairly quiet period on the internet shopping front, the old urges are returning with a vengeance (I am firmly placing the blame with Holly!! ) I have limited myself to books and nappies though becuase if I allow myself free rein, God only knows what i'll end up with and the finances simply will not stretch!

I did get the most fabulous nappy yesterday from weenotions. I wanted to link to it but the picture is gone from the site as I bought the last one. It's a black veloury kind of fabric with yellow, orange and red flames creeping up. Actually, that sounds minging but it really does look fab I promise!!

I've also invested in some birth books from ebay. I wanted to buy some in WHsmith on monday but as I was about to look at the display, my phone rang and it was my Dad, telling me that my Gran had just died. Of course, I was by myself and just burst into tears and had to sit on the stairs wiping my nose on my sleeve and sobbing!!
Not one person came to ask if I was OK although everyone had a good look at the mad, hysterical pregnant woman sitting on the stairs!

Sorry for the mammoth post but I felt the need as I've not said much this week! Off to make DH a lovely breakfast before he heads off to golf and I can go out shopping. ( I have Christening presents to buy which means spending the morning in lovely little gift shops, probably with little tea shops attached that do CAKE. I will think of you all when scoffing

Lots of love and happiness.....

bumperlicious · 07/04/2007 09:48

Morning all, hi catkin, was wondering if I was the only prson in the world who is up!

Sorry to hear about your Gran as for those badgers in whsmiths, well, my DH works there and I temped there for a while one Christmas so I don't have v nice things to say about them. Sorry no-one came to your rescue!

One a more ahppy note, what books did you buy? I've just bought Active birth, and The New Birth Experience. Had a bit of an argument with DH yesterday though as I was trying to explain to him that I wanted a few interventions and as natural a birth as possible, and he was saying but the doctors and midwives know better and I have to listen to what they say. I and got all "it's my body, don't you think I know what's best for it? It's my birth I'll do it how I want!" I think I should put the books down for a bit Still, we obviously need to have a serious chat about it though, I need to know we are on the same page or else he's not invited!

marylou23 · 07/04/2007 09:53

Morning all! Am super impressed at level of activity last night - personally by 9.30pm I was falling asleep in front of sofa and (the shame) actually cried with laughter in front of Starsky and Hutch (the new one. Usually not my sort of thing at all but DH was back from week away so we thought something light would be good idea... It wsn't even that good, but at one point I honestly thought I would never stop laughing. It was like being 12 again. I blame the hormones...)

My sleeping pattern is really changing at the moment - I'm just about managing a whole night's sleep (with several trips to loo, of course), but am getting tired much earlier and then waking up at 6.30am full of the joys of spring. Very disconcerting.

Glad to hear we're back to 80s music. Can't improve on it, really, can you? How about Go West? Or Tears for Fears? Oh, yeah, I'm dancing now...

Re. looky-likies, am struggling actually. I'm quite pixie-faced. Just had my hair cropped and dyed dark brown - am usually mid brown and sometimes have highlights. Blue eyes. Ah, okay, according to DH, if you think of Kirten Dunst and dye her hair dark and cut it off that's probably close-ish (I knew I married him for a reason .)

HOpe all is well, that twunts are being twatted, illnesses are abating and everyone's enjoying the sunshine. You tan better when you're pregnant apparently. That suggests to me that Nature wants us to lie on our arses in the sunshine and go brown

marylou23 · 07/04/2007 09:59

Sory, Bump, cross-posted. Is tricky re. men and doctors - men like practical solutions whereas women are probably more in tune with their bodies... I'm sure he'll understand when you explain patiently... good luck!!
Oh and Doggus, love that site. I bought one of their 'intelligent pockets' a while back - meant I could justify a new handbag (sorry, CHANGING BAG)

catkin555 · 07/04/2007 10:07

Well, breakfast was popular! I think those George Foreman (or Formby as they're called in our house!) grills are fabulous!! DH has gone off to golf singing my praises which is always nice!

Bumper, I got a couple of Kitzinger books and
am keeping my eye on a few more which look like they might be along similar lines. My DH also tried to steer me along the medical route as he'd talked to his mate whose wife had 'had pethidine and said it was great'!

I'm pretty adamant that that's definitely something I don't want and told him exactly why. Think he realises now that I may actually have given the whole birth thing a bit of thought and that I'm pretty clued up (therefore not needing advice from his mates!!) Bless him. He's really very good and I think he's doing some secret research of his own as he keeps coming out with facts that he certainly wouldn't have known a few months ago!

Anyway, have a lovely day - Weather is beautiful here - hope it's the same for everyone! Off to the shops now....

riabutterflew · 07/04/2007 10:30

catkin, sorry to hear about your gran . I miss mine lots.
I am not reading books - am still in slight denial!
It's a lovely day, should be washing my hair and getting ready to visit friend then go to family for meal, but am irritatedly waiting about for the post as might get an ebay parcel... I hate not knowing whether it will come at 9am or 1.30pm. Moan moan moan
Must get enthusiatic about later, but I DON'T WANT TO GO

marylou23 · 07/04/2007 10:34

Ria, our postman is dreadful. Never before 2pm usually...

Have searched down through postings but can't find where you're going? And why you don't want to?

x

marylou23 · 07/04/2007 10:37

Oh duh duh duh. THat'll be the family meal then. What can I say? My brain is mashed potato. Is it your family or DHs? And if you really don't want to go can you blame assorted pregnancy woes? Feel a bit bad actually, we just turned down an invitation to a 'wedding vows renewal' of some very remote relations of DH - is ages away and in May. Basically said 'sorry, I'm pregnant, can't come'. Which is a bit of a crap excuse really but I'm thinking three hours in the car at 37 weeks is really not the best idea...

foxybrown · 07/04/2007 11:02

O, FGS you're only pregnant! Women used to give birth in the fields and get back to work with the baby strapped to them ...

morning all! Am with you 100% on bailing on family do's - especially with the out-laws!

lovely day, isn't it? am off to lose DPs money at the races. Right, bread to butter ....

catch up with you all later xx

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 07/04/2007 11:19

Good morning everyone!! Another fine day today! It's dp's birthday, so I've spent the morning cooking fried breakfasts, inc. black pudding [puke with almighty force emoticon]!!

Sorry about your grandma catkin . I can't believe no-one came to see if you were ok. People are so self absorbed! I was sobbing on the wall outside Mamas & Papas the other day and people were just walking past me looking the other way!

Hope you have a lovely time at the races foxy! Sounds like fun, hope you have a good time spanking tp's money!!

PS I love my George Foreman too. It's great because I am veggie and I put all dp's meat in it. It keeps it contained and stops it contaminating my food!!

I am going to the shop now to buy dp a birthday cake! Am I a bad housewife? I really can't be arsed to make one esp as he doesn't really like cake.

K1K2 · 07/04/2007 13:04

PPhowww, just spent all morning catching up on these megga last 3 threads, including the "offensive", one - I thought I was going to be posting on the "roses are red" one!! So replying to old messgaes from those threads before starting my own. LOL to HollyEB "forgetting " her DD was still up after the end of the day tidy ( 2 June threads ago?) Foxy's leakage at both ends ( I truly sympathise) also her new thread title suggestion "minge /hinge".

On a sadder note, I sympathise with Catkin whose Nan died ( mine did in Jan, I miss her and think of her everyday with a pang in heart when I do ) On a slightly lighter note, sympathise with Doggus and Derlor with their various viruses and ear problems. Hence the reason for staying away so long.. I've been plagued with virus after virus for the last 10/12 weeks, not being able to shift them naturally. Finally went to the GP at the end of March and was given over a week off work ( yippee) till after Easter to basically rest , and have some anti-bioics as I also had an infection. Then just discovered this week after having a blood test following my anti D injection , I have anaemia, which could have explained why I was finding it hard to fight off any bug coming my way. So all in all I have been a very crotchety prg Mum in the last few weeks ( you toucha my bump?..) , but hopefully with a prescription of iron tablets, a good time off work and the good weather finally here I am in much better spirits. Especially after reading your threads girls. All that talk of chocolate and sex toys - what a great thread this is!!.

On another note, sorry Trace the pregnacy is not going as well as it could. If it is any consolation , I was also told after delivery of my DS that I had a placental inefficiency of some sort ( as he was small), but they couldn't tell me the reason why - you have a very good team that is able to detect these things very early, which in one way is a help but then it worries you. Your little girl will catch up very quickly and gain weight after delivery I am sure, with your loving care. No-one would have known that my DS was underweight at birth, seeing him at 4 months , he was like Michelin baby-( I think I over compensated with gold formula on top of BF!)

Nanny Jo - I am sorry to hear that you have OC. I have just starting to develop some very aggressive itching all this week and I am starting to worry . I had my MW appt this week and told her-she has taken my blood , cross fingers I haven't got that to add to my anaemia. Sorry for the gloomy bits...

Now this brings me up to date, with a suggestion for a new thread: "Due in June - forget the Easter Egg Hunt, just hide the stupid twunt(s)"," !!

Well I have spent long enough in front of the screen this morning and need to get out in the sunshine and get my vit D/function for the rest of the day . In a couple of weeks time I finish work for my mat leave , so will have more time to post and not be so out of the loop.

Enjoy your choco filled weekend girls ( I am hoping I'll get a Lindt Bunny too - the best!) xx

derlor · 07/04/2007 13:53

justbeme · 07/04/2007 18:13

evening all!
Sorry to hear you sad news Catkin, I dont know what to add, but you know we are all here to listen to you.

Derlor????? how was the choccie? or have u eaten too many and now feel sick?

Doggus - where did u use to live in the 80's then if you were stalking in Watford? Thats my old stomping ground.

Been for a 3 1/2 mile walk today, so feel that I can pig out on that big tin of Celebrations that ive just opened from Xmas (its now out of date but tastes ok!!)

derlor · 07/04/2007 18:37

Evening, firstly i would like to express my horror at your lack of sympathy or concern from anyone around you Catkin when you were obviously so visibly upset - i can't believe people would just walk past you. i would never do that and would always check to see if somone was OK!! i'm sorry for your loss and appreciate your sadness ((((hugs))))
justbeme - did you wald all 3.5 miles without stopping for a pee??? i know i couldn't in fact i couldn't walk 1 mile right now actually without a catheter inserted or several stops in nearby bushes!!!!
hope everyone else has had a lovely day enjoying the sunshine and building up a lovely healthy pregnancy tan.
i have been SO uncomfortable today feel like the baby is actually trying to push it's way out through my stomach (think alien). Can't believe i've got another 8 weeks to go (there will be at least 4 aliens in here by then i reckon!!)
CHOCOLATES ARE FAB - WELL WORTH THE £9.95 [GRIN]

OP posts:
derlor · 07/04/2007 18:43

oops not "your lack of sympathy" - sorry i meant the lack of sympathy.
also i was impressed by your walk JBM - not wald
i have lost about 1,000,000 brain cells today i think!!

OP posts:
catkin555 · 07/04/2007 20:36

Thanks for all sympathy My Grandma was very old and very poorly and had been housebound for over 5 years so to be honest, although it was still a shock when it happened, it was probably just as well that she passed when she did. (Does saying that make me an awful person?)

On a happier note, glad it's not just me obsessed by chocolates! . We have a Hotel Chocolat 20 mins away and I have to force myself to stay away - It is the most fabulous place and the temptation once inside is just too great!!

foxybrown · 07/04/2007 20:54

((((hugs)))) Catkin. Sorry to hear your sad news. Am sorry to hear about your Gran. Hope you are OK.

Shocking that no-one gives a shit anymore.

riabutterflew · 07/04/2007 21:14

Hi all. It's been a bugger of a day. Survived the dinner at my sisters without too much to bitch about (will save it for DH later - you have done nothing to deserve it.) Had a nice time with my friend.

Am currently being a nasty witch on a broomstick feeling resentful that my stepdaughter is coming to stay tomorrow. I wouldn't mind if she was coming to see her dad or the boys but it's only so she and a friend can go out in town to the clubs and basically I'm providing free B&B for one night AND will have to keep the boys locked in the shed (not really ) on Monday morning 'cos the girls won't want to get up before lunch. And it is DS1s b'day. AND, I have to do all the sorting of beds etc myself because DH will be working.
I am being very unfair I know but I can do without the extra hassle.

I HAVE NO CHOCOLATE

foxybrown · 07/04/2007 21:27

ah-ha!The real reason for your unhappiness Ria!

If I were you, I'd give her and her friend a lovely warm welcome, encourage them to stay, enjoy your hospitality. But I'd make a bloody huge deal of DS1's birthday on Monday morning! With blow-outs and party poppers! really, really early! she'll never want to stay again
