nightmare nanny - can you do anything to increase your chances of carrying it longer ie rest?

OP posts:
foxybrown · 03/04/2007 20:46

shit Nannyjo, shit shit shit.

Don't really know what else to say except I'm sending you and bub all my positive vibes and hugs. Come on here anytime you are worried, scared, nervous, panicking ....

I really hope you are ok. It must be pretty frightening xx

derlor · 03/04/2007 20:47

oh yeah, you get chips and cheese in all the take away places in Scotland - we are so cultured up here you know!!

OP posts:
foxybrown · 03/04/2007 20:47

curry sauce AND ketchup. Oh and a pickled egg too.

annobal · 03/04/2007 20:49

Nanny - that's awful - am keeping fingers crossed for you to hold on to 34 weeks.

Must admit when it comes to chips I am a purist - salt and a splash of vinegar - beans, eeww!

Don't be too impressed - the knitting needles only come out when I'm pg and I never use what I make!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 20:49

pickled eggs...barf..barf..barf!! Pineapple fritters=happy holly!!

nannyjo · 03/04/2007 20:51

rest...?? With a 2.5 year old

(and a husband who i wouldn't call lazy but just doesn't use much initiative to get things done till he sees that i've done it then realises!!! Men!!)

I'm ok tho, scared but staying positive. You have to just trust the pros i s'pose.

i'm so touchy at the moment. I feel like killing anything that gets in my way and my patience is non-exixtent. Is that worry or just necause this stage in the pregnancy is the most hormonal??

I feel sorry for DS and poor DS who feel like their walking on egg shells

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 20:54

Nannyjo it is normal to be stressed out and want to kill everyone at this stage (I certainly do), but it must be doubley hard for you with all the worrying. Are you itchy too? That must make you feel worse.

nannyjo · 03/04/2007 20:57

no not too bad with itching funnily enough but been told to watch my diet...How do you tell a 30 week prgnant lady not to eat sgars, fats, spicey foods??? All the things i want.

This talk of chips is making me want veggie burger and chips from our local chippy (the only place i've ever found that does a nice veggie burger!!)

foxybrown · 03/04/2007 20:57

Totally normal NannyJo. Nobody should get too close to me in the Waitrose queue, or I'll tear their farking head off.

Seriously.

nannyjo · 03/04/2007 20:59

foxy, I'm ok with strangers it's just my poor family that seem to do it to me.

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 21:04

Mmmm..veggie burger! I love Burger King spicy bean burgers! They are the best! I am really hungry now with all this talk of food and I haven't got any, not even bread! Need to go shopping, I feel like Old Mother Hubbard!

IKWYM about family nannyjo, they are all driving me loopy atm! Then one of them does something really nice for me and I feel really guilty about being horrid to them!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 21:06

Does junk food make the itching worse or is it soemthing to do with your liver processing the fats and refined sugars? Sorry for being nosy, I am just interested!

foxybrown · 03/04/2007 21:15

shock! Holly! Am deeply shocked! Go and bake immediately!!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 21:19

Oh dp is moaning at me now, he is hungry! Best go and make him something before he gets cranky! He is like a child!

foxybrown · 03/04/2007 21:29

send him to the chippy

riabutterflew · 03/04/2007 21:33

Got to be brown sauce on home-made chips (yes, I can actually make them ok, but the bloody kids don't like chips much - what's wrong with them?), and just salt on chip-shop ones. Don't think I could do chips n cheese, but then I only eat cheese on pizza ...
Must start fantasising about slimming world chips in readiness for July - or thereabouts.
Nannyjo, take care, hope it all goes well. Don't know what else to say, but we're all v supportive if you need to rant or have a virtual cry or whatever.
Am off for a nice bath in my Sanctuary bath oil (probably not as cultured as I imagine it to be, but not bad for me - honest) with my Joanna Trollope book. (I tidied up the crap on the kitchen table before I fed the kids, so feel I am justified in having a treat. Just have to pick my way carefully through the stuff on the floor!!!)
Laterx

foxybrown · 03/04/2007 21:49

Proper chips, Ria? Or Oven? Bet you make proper ones. What are Slimming World chips then? I'm a weightwatchers slimmer myself. Took me 6 months to shed 2 stone and 2 weeks to pile half of it back on!!

hollyandtheeasterbunny · 03/04/2007 21:57

Ok crisis averted! Dp was placated with a packet of Pasta'n'Sauce (!!!) I found in the cupboard! I am currently snacking on a raw carrot dipped in Philadelphia! The food issue in my house is getting dire!

I love proper chips, but hate making them, too hot and oily! I am going to have to look into some sort of slimming regime once this baby is born. I need to fit into my size 12 jeans again, being fat is really getting me down! I want to be the same size as I was befoer I got pg with dd...hmmm, may take me a while!!

Seansgirl · 03/04/2007 22:03

Foxy, glad you've come out of hiding was getting worried there!

Derlor, sending

Nannyjo, you don't sound hormonal to me, just perfectly pregnant and thats coming from a pregnant hormonal old boot . And given in you're circumstances I think you're sounding very ++++, am sending lots of hugs and wafting (a la Holly style) lots of stay in there longer vibes to your LO

BTW Its mayo and tomato sauce for me too!! Although I did like the satay sauce on the chips in Holland yum!

Sleep well girls xxx

Awww bless him derlor! I shall be thinking of you scoffing yummy cheesy chips whilst I sit here munching on my carrot! Don't feel guilty, you deserve them, glad you are feeling better x

derlor · 03/04/2007 22:12

oops got a bit excited there sorry for double post.

OP posts:
riabutterflew · 03/04/2007 22:39

Don't think I could munch a raw carrot - ever.
I make both homemade oven chips and proper fried ones (sometimes but the smell is disgusting). Slimming world chips are where you par-boil the raw chips for a bit and then bake them in the oven with that smelly fry-lite stuff. If you cook the living f**k out of them (like I do everything) and have lots of salt and brown sauce they are almost ok. They are a s/w "free food".
I would like to be as thin as I was (which wasn't very in the Posh spice world of thinness) before I had DS1, but my argument is I was only 19 then so hadn't quite stopped growing. I want to be thinner than my sister, or just wear the clothes I have in a trunk because I can't bear to get rid of them. In reality they are not that small.
Must go before I pass out - bath water too hot.
Hope you all enjoy your chips/chip substitutes. (am hoping DH will fancy takeaway when he gets in. burger and cheesy garlic bread - yum. Typically, last night was not speaking to him so he was very early -BEFORE 9.30. Tonight am almost speaking to him so he's not back yet. I AM NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT HIS JOB...-ish.
